emoticon Doc said today that I need an MRI of my knee, then when he can see what damage there is, I'll get arthroscopic surgery. But due to some things in my life, I won't be getting surgery until February. Meanwhile, I'll wear the brace, use the cane, and ice down my knee and if necessary, take Tylenol. sigh. The Lord knows best, and I'm trying to wait patiently on Him. Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers.

I'm happy because my 'baby (she's in her 30's) is now a Graduate Licensed Practical Nurse (still has to take state boards).

I'm down because my knee is still giving me serious pain and problems - I wonder WHEN I'll get back to exercising!!!!!!

Not so 'how' - the shot doesn't seem to be doing the job on my knee. Oh well, God is allowing it to be what it is, and I know HE knows what He's doing, and it's for good.

Going better now that I've seen the ortho dr and gotten a diagnosis (torn meniscus). He gave me a (cortison substitute) shot and it should feel better in a few days.

Sudden drop in temperature, knew it was coming but it was a shock to the system! Wish we had gotten more rain. we are getting desperate, going to a big meeting next Wed to show the leaders, a senator, water authority we aren't happy they are cutting off the water flow to our lake-it is going to kill our fish, the alligators, ruin it totally. They did this in 1999 and it has just started coming out of it and now they want to do it again! Bureaucrats!!!

I had planned to not do a lot today but then got to looking at all that needs to be done before hubby starts everything and decided to work on a few things. We had to go to W-Mart to drop off the script for his antibiotic he has to start taking next week before they put in the markers and I will pick that up tomorrow. I didn't linger but surprisingly the store wasn't very busy, about like a normal Sat! I picked up some stuff at The Dollar Tree for the park's decorations as I went right by it on the way home. Hopefully by this time next week that will be done for this season.
Hubby and Abbie accompanied me this afternoon while I watered the pansies. I have to talk to maint to see if we can't add 2 more sprinklers! I also put out the pretty candy canes in the entrance island and they look really nice there.
I even started on dad's Christmas cards and hopefully will have them done in the next day or so. Then I can start thinking about mine. Have to get Abbie's pic taken and that won't be till after she is groomed on the 9th so I have time-ha ha!
Don't I sound like a typical Type A personality-it is horrible.
Pat

Pat, I'm glad you had a good time with friends, and also that your Dad perked up again. I know it seems that it shouldn't be such a problem for our siblings to contact our parents at least on special days, but a couple of my sisters were like that, too. Now Mom and Dad are both gone, and I'm trying to not be spiteful and hope they feel guilty.

Thank you for your comments on my blog. Yes, it WAS special to have my kids 'wait' on me.

Had another great day-our great friends came about 10:30 (I had gone to the gym early with my friend Betty) and we headed out to a flea market-I got fresh veggies, and then they took us to lunch.
Happy to report dad has perked back up today. I guess it is just going to be up and down from here on out I guess. He got calls from 2 of my brothers today (It might have upset him that they didn't bother to call on Thanksgiving) so I was glad they finally remembered him! I would think they could take 5 min and at least call but that is another story! I should talk, only 1 of our 5 kids managed to call for Thanksgiving and the same one called today to wish us Happy Anniversary. Hmmmm, wonder how they would feel if we didn't remember their special days.
Ah, I am thankful for my wonderful friends-they have become my extended family.

Pat, I'm glad y'all had such a good time yesterday; but I'm sorry your Dad isn't doing well. No, it ISN'T easy when someone we love passes on (which I hope he's not about to do), but God provides the comfort we need. Both my parents are in Heaven waiting for me, and I'm comforted by the fact that I'll see them again one day.

I hope your Dad 'perks' up again real soon, and you can enjoy much more time with him.

I had it all done and under control by 10 am and was showered and waiting on company when they arrived! Dad wasn't feeling well so he didn't eat with us. I can see him going down and I guess when one passes 100 it is to be expected but it still isn't easy to accept.
We had a relaxing afternoon as we ate before 1 and then sat and visited and took a golf cart ride and played some cards. I have been over to check on dad several times and will have to keep tabs on him till he perks up or get him into the dr if he doesn't.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Pat

Thank for the reminder-however, if I don't get it done one day, it just gets moved forward-ha ha! Today was very productive. Got the ironing done before heading out to the gym and then back home to get the pansies fertilized-it got too hot yesterday to do it. We had our home powerwashed today to get the nasty bugs off-we get blind mosquitoes (midges) and they are nasty and this summer they have been awful. Think the season is over now so time to get things spiffed up. While that was being done, DH and I cleaned inside in preparation for Thur. We are having friends over for dinner. We got the front half of the house done so tomorrow will finish up. Shouldn't be too bad of a day - however DH managed to schedule an oil change on the car without consulting me so hoping that doesn't take too long as I have to pick up the turkey dinner at 2!

Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll be able to accomplish all that needs to be done, and that you'll not fret if it isn't everything you want to get done. Sometimes we make massive to-do lists for ourselves and then punish ourselves when we aren't able to finish them. Be kind to yourself.

Enjoying some fantastic weather. Got Abbie bathed and combed out late morning and let her air dry in the sunshine. Went to the pool this afternoon BUT the heater wasn't working and air temp of 76 and water of 74, sorry I am not that tough! Soaked up a few rays before coming home!
Stayed up late watching the game-Go Cards-sorry folks I am transplanted down south from STL so still a die hard Cards fan, hehehehe!

Had a fantastic day-up early to attend some community yard sales and found a few bargains. Then home to check on dad, took Abbie to stay with him, then off to the opening of a new park where we did a lot of walking and checked out the new dog park (Abbie will love it). We attended the final football game of the season of our friend's granddaughter (she is a cheerleader) and they won big time. We ended up going out to dinner with all of them and finally home about 5. DH was able to keep going the whole day-back hurts a little tonite but he did great.

It's late afternoon, and so far the day has been pretty good - such a sweet thing after all these weeks of bursting into tears over nothing and feeling like I just wish the world would GO AWAY! Maybe the med is finally beginning to work. I do know I have a long ways to go before I'm back to where I want to be, and I'm looking forward to my psychiatrist's appt next week. Did I mention? The dr is a woman (always a plus in my book for understanding another woman); aaaannnddd, she only treats adults over the age of 60! Even greater understanding 'guaranteed'.

So today's 'How is it going?' from me is UP - and I refuse to borrow trouble by thinking that tomorrow's might not be so good. But we do go to the funeral of a very dear friend tomorrow. At least she's in Heaven and out of pain now.

Pat, my heart goes out to you. You're right, sometimes the little things do us in. I'm praying for God's comfort for you.

As I'd hoped this morning, I'm able to say tonight that I'm not in the same (pitiful) shape I was in this morning. I'm still sick, but I think I started the antibiotic early enuf that it will take care of the infection. I'm still struggling with many things, but I have some hope.

Y'all are the best people, and I'm so glad to be getting to know you.

How a little message can alter one's mood. I had put out some birthday reminders on here and today I received a reminder of my dear cousin's birthday which would have been the 26th - we lost her Aug 31. I had come across the card I had bought to send to her last week so several more tears have been shed the past few days.

What with being sick and the other things going on in my life right now, I'm doing very poorly this morning. I know (and appreciate) that others are praying for me. Thank you. I need it. I didn't rest at all well last night, and it doesn't look like I'll get much of a nap today. sigh.

I hope to be able to sign on again tonight in a much better frame of mind. emoticon

Have you tried making apple cake-it is one of my family's favorites and they freeze well. Let me know if you need a recipe!

Had to walk early as DH had to go have a blood draw. I watched the sunrise while Abbie & I walked. DH took dad to clubhouse for coffe & donuts and afterwards we went to the lab. Had to stop for gas and it had gone up 13 cents since yesterday-bummer!!! Back home to a meeting about insurance-thinking of changing plans for DH but I am leaning towards keeping what we have-we know it is good-other would be cheaper and probably save us $150-200 a month but I am not feeling good about it if we have a big medical issue.
Back home to clean house (a guick touch-up) and I had just sat down to look at the newspaper when our friends from Canada arrived. This was goodbye till April. They come down & spend a month with their daughter & husband twice a year. They used to stay 6 mo but their out of country insurance is getting too expensive if they stay more than 30 days so they just do a month.
Finally got to eat a late lunch or early dinner about 3:45 and brought home something for dad and then had to water since the heat has returned and no rain again.

It's going so great - weekend was wonderful. Kind of a bummer to be back to the work week...but it does pay the bills! 2 apple pies sitting in the kitchen - the apples are starting to be put to use. I think this year I'll also try to make some applesauce - crust isn't the healthiest thing in the world is it now? At least mine has been getting fed to the dog (I'm sure it's not good for him either - but he sure loves it!) vs my tummy!

Nancy I hope you can get thru this-I know what it is because of DH. They have changed his meds a couple times and every so often he decides he can get off altogether and that isn't good! He has been sleeping a lot since all this happened-I think it is his way of dealing with this issue.
Today has been another rainy day but more off and on, not steady. I got out this afternoon with my friend, Vicky, and we got in our 2+ miles but it started raining when we were down by the lake and we got soaked before we got home. I had to come home and get dried off and change my clothes, I was dripping!
I have cooked today-made some egg salad for lunch, fixed spaghetti & meatballs for dinner and have it in the oven now-I like it baked. I also made some pumpkin spice cake-dad was nearly out of dessert.

Hi Pat, I'm praying for you ad DH regarding the waiting. That's a tough thing to do.

Everyone: I'm sorry I'm not being a good co-leader tis week - I'm trying, but I've changed anti-depressants, and when I'm not asleep (a side effect until I get used to it), I have to struggle to maintain some sembalence of 'normal.' Those of you who know someone who has clinical depression understand. Thank you. This is not a 'poor me' comment; but a request for prayer for me (and my ever-patient DH).

This, too, WILL pass one of these days. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think we are both over the shock of this and now just antsy waiting to get the biopsy done and then will have to wait another week for the results! Of course, this is the week with all the news on PSA tests and whether they are really beneficial.
It sure has been a crappy year for us but we just have to soldier on and I know there are many who are having it even worse so if I can keep DH out of the dumps (he suffers from depression anyhow) we will get thru this just fine.
Thanks everyone for the prayers, words of support, goodies, it means a lot to us both.

Pat

Got a shocking call this evening-hubby's PSA jumped up this year so he has to have a biopsy. Of course, the waiting is worse than anything. It is scheduled for the 20th and won't get results till the 27th. I know there is only a 25% chance it is cancer but still is a worry. Trying to think positive thoughts and he is experiencing chest pains-stress and worry. Keep him in your prayers.

DH graduated from cardiac rehab today, he is feeling some better so guess the antibiotics is already helping.
I spent 6 hrs after that shopping for Halloween decorations for the park. Now to get it all put out. But it was a fun day out with my good friend and helper, Vicky. We even ate a late lunch at Sweet Tomato.

Hi Pat, Sounds like you had a really busy day, but hopefully things will settle down a bit for you. Glad your DH saw the dr regarding the need for medical changes. I did that, too, today. Here's hoping it works well for both of us. : ) Nancy

Hubby got thru rehab Mon but instead of an hr in there it was 90 min-more people coming so had to wait on machines and then his BP and heart rate got too high & he had to rest before finishing. He slept most of the rest of the afternoon. I spent several hours decorating in the park!
Today we went to see the dr-already had this appt. He has bronchitis and now on antibiotics, his thyroid #'s were not good so dr increased his doseage on his levothyroxin, and his potassium was low so he is to eat more foods rich in that and had to take 2 prescription potassium pills today and will recheck in a week.
This afternoon I had another finance committee meeting that took about 2 hours and then went to get his meds after that.
Tomorrow is the last day of rehab so I will cut my exercise short to attend hubby's "graduation".

Pat, (FROSTY99) glad to hear you, your DH and your Dad had such a great weekend. I've enjoyed a couple of Debby Macomber books, but have resisted getting more as we have several books I haven't read yet!

I've spent so much time this year knitting and crocheting that everything else has had to take second place; and now I think my carpel tunnel syndrome is acting up again. I plan to finish the small item I'm working on, then not knit or crochet for awhile. Well, I will take something to work on while helping man a booth at the craft fair on the 15th, but I need to give my hand a rest. Yes, I'm wearing a good brace at night.

Everyone: Have a wonderful day today.

Have had a great weekend. Hubby got to celebrate more yesterday since he has a free dinner so 9 of us went out to eat Sat eve. This morning dad wanted to get out so since it was cooler we took him to one of the flea markets that is open on the weekend. Hubby had to push his wheel chair, but we spent 3 hours browsing and we some fresh veggies while we were there and I picked up some Debbie Macomber books I didn't have. Dad is already busy reading since he has more free time than I do. They will make their way to my granddaughter in Vancouver, Wa when I am done with them! I get my moneys worth out of them.
Hubby is trying to get sick so hoping he is up to going to rehab tomorrow as he has 2 more sessions and I would like to get that done this week.

It's not going all that well today. I hate to be a downer to anyone else, and I WILL feel better before too long; but it's stressful watching both boys all weekend. They're 11 and almost 8 and typically, get along well some of the time and other times they fight like cats and dogs. (I know, some cats and dogs get along just fine).

Well, tomorrow's another day, and maybe I can get a good night's rest tonight. I hope everyone else is doing well today,

You guys are so sweet for commenting on my recognition award - thanks! It does feel good...today was a lot of fun too with a friend from work joining me at Zumba and then we enjoyed a fun chat over lunch.

Headed back to hot yoga in the afternoon and now I've been assisting the kids in getting ready for the big Homecoming Dance. DS didn't succeed in buying tickets in advance so the other 2 have tickets and he doesn't...he's all dressed up but is afraid that the tickets may be sold out. Hoping he's wrong!

Going to take a photo now...

Full day here-hubby's birthday-went to breakfast very early-before 7 am. Back for rehab for hubby and gym for me. Then ran errands, took hubby to audiologist, back home to find friends sitting in our carport waiting for us to get home. They were here 3 hrs (waiting on pooch to get done at groomer) and taught us a new game-Fast Track.
Tonite we went out with 3 other couples for hubby's birthday. He has quite the celebration!!

I was surprised that it actually meant quit a lot.

Decisions, decisions. We just can't get away from them can we?! I'm thinking of you as you decide on the a/c situation.

Glad you love all your son's teachers, Christine. That helps everyone concerned. : )

DH & I expect to hear soon from the school board as to our approvals for volunteering in our grandsons' classrooms. The 'vetting' process is definitely convoluted, but if we don't miss 12 months of helping, we won't have to go thru this again. emoticon

Took myself firmly in hand this afternoon (after doing dinner dishes). I treadmilled and then did some strength training. Good way to start the week. The rest of the week I think I won't try to do both in the same day....maybe/maybe not. Surely if I start the week right, I'll be able to get well the rest of the week??? emoticon

Really great - yoga twice today and upped my weights in body pump. Had my first eyebrow waxing ever (never thought my eyebrows needed any help! but DD suggested I give it a try...not bad I have to say).

Going to take a late night shower as I need to meet my buddies for the Race for the Cure 5k at 7:15AM tomorrow and have a bit of a drive to get to the appointed carpooling spot. Will be an early morning -- but looking forward to it!

And, again, thanks Nancy for agreeing to be co-leader. This team just keeps getting better. Love it!

What a day! The Lord will work out everything to His glory and for our good, but we have two cars in the shop.

Our 22 yr old run-around car decided to lose brake power when we were out last Saturday. The Lord moved mountains to get us safely home - DH put a can of brake fluid in and with downshifting and using the hand brake, we got home. The Lord kept more than one traffic light green extra long - those same lights didn't stay green as long when we WENT, just coming back home. That car went to the shop Monday, and it apppears the repairs will only be a couple of hundred to fix.

I got into a second car (we have an embarrassment of them) to go to stitching group last night. The battery in this 10 yr old car was new a month ago, but was dead last night. I was able to take our third (and last) car to stitching last night. DH took the battery on the second car to be recharged this morning, and this afternoon we took it to the dealer to check into a fan problem which probably caused the battery to run down. sigh. THAT will likely cost more than the old, old car will.

Nevertheless, the Lord allowed us to have that third car so we're not afoot, and He will provide the $$ to repair both that need it.

Our stitching group has been hard at work all year knitting and crocheting things to sell at the annual Apple Festival (last Sat. in Sept). First came possibly the rainest April on record, then more rain off and on until the remnanats of Irene came through several weeks ago, dumping tons of water on the area. Tropical Storm Lee came S-L-O-W-L-Y through the area and dumped another 13.5 inches of rain.

The Borough (town) managed to clean up the park where the festival is held, but it's been raining off and on for a couple of days now, and today's 'offering' is abundant! Yesterday the Borough cancelled Apple Festival - only the second time in its history.

Our stitching group is looking at a couple of other upcoming festivals/fairs for a booth to sell our wares.

The reason for wanting the $$, is that we knit and crochet for a number of charitable entities: chemo hats, hat/scarves/mittens for school kids, blankets for Project Linus, prayer shawls, lapghans for those in wheelchairs, etc. While we do get some donations, we buy most of our own yarn. The hoped-for sale this fall was to raise some cash for more yarn. Eh bien - c'est la vie. : )

I'm not down, except on my knees to the Lord. Praise Him for His loving kindnesses.

Long walk with DS - he described his AP Psychology lecture to me (of course I had psychology in college but I love to hear him describe his classes - he gets so excited and it reminds me of how I used to come home from school and tell my mom all about what I learned every day - what a geek I was!); made Meg's Cottage Pie (super duper yummy - highly recommend it) for dinner, busy day at work. Still making kids hot breakfasts to get them off to school on the right foot (they're still getting up early enough to make this possible - hope it keeps up!)

Glad to know blood work came back clean...it's all good!

emoticon Slept in really late today - I was soooo tired. Taking the day a bit slow, but have treadmilled and plan to do some housework and strength training.

Bought essential oils - a set of 14 (ironically I bought from Amazon but the return address of the source says they came from the next town over - and I paid $8 shipping - silly me!). Wonderful assortment of fragrances - has me thinking of planting lavender and rosemary outside my window. Why not?
