Great feedback, everybody! I had no idea such medications were legalized in Mexico. I read an interesting article about the war on drugs just yesterday. I know my original questions in my mind were about medicinal use, but this is a topic too big to be pigeon holed. Marijuana is illegal for any use here in Texas however I have used it medicinally, and my pain management doctor is supportive and encouraging about me using it. Unfortunately, it does have the "munchies" as a side effect so some days I'll trudge through indescribable pain just so I won't have to worry about battling with my pantry. I'm glad I have options, but it's unfortunate the channels I have to go through for it. My Dr is very "by the book", does urinalysis at every appt, follows up on all scripts written, but he also says that as long as his patients are forthright about their usage of medicinal marijuana he is supportive of their usage of it. Ironically, he said more than 98% of his patients test positive for marijuana in their U.A. tests. It's not a miracle drug, however it is natural and homeopathic. I do support the legalization of it, especially since I don't understand why cigarettes and alcohol are legal...

The pill is suppose to stimulate the appetite. They prescribed it to my grandma and it did not work and she basically starved to death doped up on a morphine drip. I am all for legalizing it as abuse will happen no matter what. Look at oxycotin. Good drug and very abused and very legal with ascript.

I remember reading about that pill but not sure how one would get it. I know some of the clinics also have baked goods so one does not need to smoke. Most at least have good recipies to try yourself.

Isn't there a pill, marinol that has the same effects as pot? I remember when I was first diagnosed with hiv back in 90, this guy was taking it to help with eating. Not sure if this pill Is still around though.

Those who only talk about it are usually passed up by those who are quiet & actually doing it. Life's a climb but the view is great.

I think that is awful that the man will have to go through all sorts of legal problems. I know in some states you can get 10 yrs. for just having a bud.

Medical Marijuana is legal here in Ca. I don't have a card but have used when necessary with my doctor's knowledge for pain. He flat out refuses to give me a prescription but if it works for me he has no problem. If I wanted a card I could get one pretty easily, they only required to see your medications and medical history at most of the clinics. This from another member on my RA team who lives here also.

Aww that's sad :(...

I don't think it should be legalized, though..

Here (in Mexico) marijuana, cocaine and heroin were legalized about.. 2 years ago, but it didn't seem to make any difference :S

i think if it's for medical reasons marijuana should be legal. it doesn't seem to matter if a drug is legal or not, it can still be abused and there are plenty of people who could benefit from having marijuana as a treatment for illness. i feel for this man as he was trying to help his wife. it's not like he was growing it in droves and making millions on it or anything like that.

A story of a man recently jailed for growing marijuana for his Cancer-stricken wife. Thoughts after reading the article? Thoughts in general about the legalization of marijuana for medicinal or recreational purposes? Thought this would be an interesting topic for us...
