Adding our caboose this week as we head into the last week of the July challenge:

Week 4: Adding a caboose, so we have some extra weight to pull this week.
Monitor your vitals to make sure your train is healthy: Blood pressure and heart rate
Figure out your target heart rate for exercise if you haven't already.
Run your trackers and make this the week that you meet all the goals you have set - nutrition, exercise, taking time for yourself.

Week 1: Stoking our Engine:
Add 1 extra training session either strength or cardio.
Add 1 extra vegetable or fruit each day (eat 5 already then have a 6th)

Week 2:
Increase each work out time by 10% (may not seem like much but if you work out 30 min and add 3 min for 5 days you have increased 15 minutes and remember you have are continuing with the extra training from week 1.
Run your nutrition tracker and determine if there is one category that stands out in which you are under or over then commit yourself to staying within range (remember this is your ideal number for your engine to run efficiently).

Week 3:
Support one or more SP's with words of encouragement/inspiration
Try a new exercise that you haven't done before or that you are not currently doing

Just checking in to see if you are all still on the tracks or have you derailed? If so time to switch to a new track and get back on board.

So how are you doing with your challenges this month - are you on track or need a little boost or a gentle nudge?
The easiest thing for me has been adding the extra fruit/veggie per day and increasing the 10% work out - for my walking means only one more time 'around the block' so to speak.
I have been doing better with my biggest food challenge which is the fat category - have been staying in the range I have challenged myself so that has been good.
Hope to hear how the rest of you are doing???

Week 3 adding another train car and keeping up still with weeks 1 and 2 activities:

Try a new exercise that you haven't done before or that you are not currently doing - for me it will be yoga (have tried in the past and wanted to resume so a perfect opportunity) - what will yours be: cross fit, a run or walk, gym equipment, swimming - the options are endless.

Good evening - getting ready to add a rail car to our engine which means we need to work a little harder this coming week.

Looking forward to your posts of your progress for July's challenge

Hey I am always up for a good challenge. I know the first week is almost over, but I have been stoking my engines...

1. Started back on sparkpeople after a year of absence.
2. Reading 1 or more encouraging stories, articles a day
3. Started using the food tracker on a daily bases.
4. Started drinking more than 10 cups of water a day.

Whoo Hoo... lost 3 lbs the first week!! Now to add an extra session of strength to mix things up and an extra helping of veges...

Welcome aboard our July Challenge. Thanks to one of our SP members for the idea of a prior challenge they had participated in. This is a progressive challenge in that each week we will be adding to the prior weeks activity.

Week 1: Stoking our Engine:
Add 1 extra training session either strength or cardio.
Add 1 extra vegetable or fruit each day (eat 5 already then have a 6th)

Weeks 2 & 3: adding rail cars to our engine - more to pull so we will have to work even
harder ....

Week 4 - the most challenging as our 'engines' are now pulling 2 rail cars and a caboose -
whew this is gonna be tough!....

Are you on board for this challenge - each week is progressive so be prepared.
