Feels good, like it is nice we are worthwhile to ourselves. I have often gotten so focused outside of me that I forget to care for me too.

6 things in my life.

Buds surgery went well, and I am grateful
I too am seeing doctors and dentists and doing more for my self care.
following the Overcoming Binge Eating program and getting better every week.
Looking forward to cruise on Tuesday.
Looking forward to lunch out today with DD. Catfish sandwich. Yummy with nutrients.
Looking forward to hiding my cruising ducks.

One thing that helped me with clutter was a one in and one out rule. It makes me think before I buy anything. It also helps me to slow down the clutter. Also, when I am pacing, I only clean or put ten things away and then rest for 20 minutes.

New SIX THINGS for a new year.

1) Find the PERS Stuff again

2) Walk one mile in one setting three days a week to help get in shape for the 5K

3) Swim four times a month.

4) Finish the party painting with the cardinal on it. (needs some scroll work)

5) Juice once a week.

6) Release some more yarn into the wild.

It is fun to reread some of these things.

1) listen to meditation guide for 30 days.
I only do that now if I feel stressed

2) Go to Gym everyday even if I don't exercise. Keep the habit, utilize pacing. Only do 5 minutes.
Sadly, I don't do this, but it does keep me walking Buddy outside. We got in 1.6 miles today.

3) Turn the PERS stuff in.
I can't believe myself. What the heck is my procrastination on this.

4) Put the Blazer in my name.
Done

5) weed eat another 3' section of lawn.
Done many, many times. I even drug the lawn mower out today because even in January it was perfect weather. But I couldn't get it started.

What happened to 6)

Still need to go to neurologist but I think I found a good one here per yelp reviews. I don't rush into anything.

Need to finish online grocery shopping. I've been doing better on fixing meals based on what I have in the house. I call it eating down the supplies. It is easier for me to see what I have. emoticon

I have been compliant with meds...still working on the timing of the meds but most days I am ok. emoticon I take all meds vits at noon

Becoming compliant with my vitamins. Am taking a liquid multi and it is increasing my overall activity levels. It is helping sis, too. emoticon

Need to continue to declutter. I take one little task at a time whenever I feel well enough to do it. I don't freak about what still needs to be done. I just tell myself, I will get to it. Doing it!

I am working on bringing less stuff in the house. I just don't have the energy to oversee too much stuff. This has been very helpful to me.

Glad you are working on the pacing. I have been really careful and frankly a little depressed all week, but the resting and pushing in small increments helped. I was able to walk half a 5K today. Not where I was at last year, but at least back to where I was at before I left for Texas.

On my list from a year ago, I did get all those things done, but need to redo 1 and 2. So here is a new list.

1) listen to meditation guide for 30 days.
2) Go to Gym everyday even if I don't exercise. Keep the habit, utilize pacing. Only do 5 minutes.
3) Turn the PERS stuff in.
4) Put the Blazer in my name.
**** Both those two things (3&4) stress me out horribly. Baby steps. (taking off DH's name, I divorced him last year and he died in October. I miss him terribly. Those two tasks and Elvis Presley songs trigger crying jags. Of course crying is healing, so I guess I am not really a weird basket case.)
5) weed eat another 3' section of lawn.

Visited the lilac garden and since the house was closed we went to see the new casino. The art and architecture was wonderful. Had a modern industrial theme. I wish they had drawn more on the traditional Native American arts from our area, but it was still fun.

That is very positive. It gives me hope. I read that you need a little hope to motivate yourself to go workout each day, or something to look forward to. I bought a refurbished iPod. Sis had already gotten me blue tooth headphones. I will be hitting the gym with my music which always helps me workout longer.

Had a wonderful day walking the pool with a friend. In the last two weeks she has gone from 15 minutes to 30 and then today she walked 40 minutes. She spent most of the last several years in a cast to support her weight and heal foot ulcers. This is huge. Later I went to yoga. Tomorrow I am going to the Lilac Gardens with my walking coach friend and her husband. I hope to get quite a few steps in then too. I might walk a 5K this weekend. It is kind of soon, but it is free and supports our county by donations.

Thx for explaining what u did. It is helpful. I do something similar or try to. I usually get interrupted by a sick dog or by sis. Today, it has been peaceful for the most part.

I need lots of rest these days. My goal is to go to the gym at least three times per week. I was set to go today but sis suggested we walk around the neighborhood. We did. It was beautiful out.

I kept the books I really like, like Ragtime. I got rid of lots of my books about two years ago. I kept my graphic art books aka comics...lol! I get the graphic novels through the library now on my kindle. I am a happy camper!

Kudos to resisting the biscotti!

Good job on #6. I struggle with that too.

I weeded out most of my books because I want to travel cross country and needed to simplify. However, I have about a thousand books on my Kindle. So......About the only books I miss are the Harry Potter series. I can check them out on Library2go on the kindle. At some point, I may buy them for kindle. We shall see. I know many people want that tactile connection with their books and the pride of owning their own personal library. The story is most important to me. I have a few signed copies of books and a couple sets I think the grandchildren might enjoy. I think I am down to ten books.

When I was super sick I would set the timer for 10 minutes and then lay down with eyes shut and meditate. Then I would set timer for 30 minutes and read, knit or write. Then I would get up and put ten things away. Afterward, I would set timer for 10 minutes and lay down with eyes shut, rotating through this schedule until bedtime. At least I felt productive. I got a ton of knitting done for Christmas gifts since I had no income then either and the house stayed surprisingly tidy. Scrubbing and scouring came later when I was able to set the timer and clean for ten minutes. That ten minutes with the eyes shut was huge in helping me learn how to pace and listen to the body.

Now, most days I am running between 60% and 70% functioning, I still set the timer to remind myself to exercise and clean house. Once, I get started I can stay at a chore for 20 minutes to an hour before needing to rest. If I have done something like mow the lawn, I do try to lay down for ten minutes after.

So that is more of my story. Here is a list for current plans for this summer.

1) lose ten more pounds before September. So, I can move easier while traveling.
2) do cost comparison of traveling with RV vs Motels
3) make sure Blazer is travel ready
4) walk 3 more 5Ks before September
5) visit a peony garden, plant my garden. The sun is out. Maybe I need to do that today. Constant snow and rain since last October.
6) travel to Kansas in September to do my research for the story I am writing for the grandkids.

1) I wish I didn't get rid of a lot of my books over the years
2) I want to have a really good and thorough de-clutter and spring clean. (Somebody stop me from getting rid of anymore books.)
3) I want to finish crocheting my husband's camping blanket this month.
4) I wish I had the energy last year to keep on top of the creeping buttercup in the garden
5) I wish I hadn't had a taste of the chocolate almond biscotti my daughter made because now...
6) I want some biscotti (edit - not going to have any tho)

soy is a phytoestrogen which slows the thyroid. In the 1990s it was considered a wonder food.

Really, I think the most important thing is to eat as naturally as possible with foods that are the closest to what our ancestors ate 500 years ago.

That's a great idea to set a timer!

I think the pooches and their requests to go outside keep me walking most days than not. I see it as a blessing, as I doubt I'd be out there walking. Dogs are the best exercise companions! They just love it so much! Seeing them actually smiling while walking gets me in a joyful mood too, so I am not just seeing it as another chore.

That is such a beautiful story. What a great coach.

I used to set the timer to keep my pacing in line. Four 15 minute workouts is still an hour.

Having a low spoon day, but probably in response to the one hour + work out I had yesterday. The work out helps my pain, but I have to remember to not work out until I can no longer work out! It feels good in some ways, and not so good in others.

I wish I had joined the swim team when I was invited to do so my the coach (and also my swim teacher) when I was 8 years old. I was a very fat little kid and very shy. That is honestly my only regret in life.

He gave me a pin to show I was on the swim team anyway, because he said in spirit, I was! I loved that pin. Thank you sir, for being one of my angels!

Feeling good really helps. For whatever reason, the CFS I have had recently stopped on Saturday. Brain cleared. I was functioning on all 8 cylinders. Yes. I am a V8 energizer bunny when I feel good. Just need to remember to pace myself so I don't crash again.

Today, I am visiting hubby and my son's family later. Need to head out now.

Thank you. I did.
Six positive things I did this weekend.
1) ate healthy
2) socialized with good people.
3) walked on the beach
4) drove on the beach with the windows down and then over the coast range on a back road.
5) found a new park to hike in
6) put everything away when I got home.

GD and I are going to Victoria for her graduation present in June. Other than the parliament and castles it is geographically a lot like the western coastline of Oregon and Washington. I loved it.

Heading to the beach with TOPS friends for State Recognition Days. One of our ladies has met and maintained her goal, so gets to walk in the Circle of Light. Cool stuff. Not sure if I will be online again before Monday.

In my sibling family, the middle sisters always get their way...lol!

Here are the six things I'd like:

1 Get to and maintain 220 pounds
2 get out of the house more
3 start my physical therapy again
4 get in the pool at least twice a week
5 blog more
6 volunteer if I ever get my strength back

Mine is trying to get a bed in detox, and his va social worker is working on a residential bed for after. I just need the relief of that for a little bit...even if it is only temporary. And I have help lined up for with the kids for after that happens. We're just in a holding pattern right now, and it making tensions run high...

I was always attracted to the bad boys too. Loved the high energy and impulsive creativity even if it was a bit disconcerting at times. Yes, convince them to go fishing.

My issue was that my husband tried to talk me out of deep cleaning. "Come watch TV with me" "Do you really want to do that now" "I don't feel good, do it later" "We might need that later" etc.

My husband is more like a juvenile delinquent, my three year old is Loki incarnate, and while my almost 5 y/o is very helpful for a short amount of time, it's just that: a short amount of time.

Why is it easier when no one is home. You would think extra hands would be helpful, but that is not necessarily so.

GD is learning Russian on line. Not sure how good the program is, but at least it is a start for her. She wants to go to Moscow someday.

I had to look up KonMari. What an excellent idea. I have been simplifying for about 5 years now. I used to think I had to store everything for everyone. I stayed in both my houses for 20 years. They both had upstairs and good storage under the eaves. No more. It is amazing how much weight lifts off your shoulders when the "stuff" goes out the door. My rule now is one thing in, one thing out. So I think about what I purchase more carefully and what I am willing to get rid of to bring the new item in.

The Denali bus tour sounds wonderful. I would love to do that too. I also want to see Europe, but more into the US at this point.

You have a lovely list. Thanks for sharing.

All of these are still on my bucket list except the snow skiing. I am moving closer to the RV and travel. Buds and I hiked 2 miles last week. So getting stronger on some days for our one day PCT hike.

snow ski at least once when I was a teen or in my 20s.
travel to Australia ... wished I had done that in my 20s to explore the outback
travel to Australian outback at least as part of a senior tour bus.
buy an RV....on my bucket list
see Maine in the fall for all the colors.
Hike a small section of the Pacific Crest trail with Buddy.

********
Second batch of goals

1. want to stay juicing with some protein supplement for next two days emoticon
2. wish I would have used the house money more wisely,
Should have fired the contractor. emoticon
3. want to clean this house today. emoticon
4. wish to stay calm and happy in my circumstances. emoticon
5. wish to get under 200 and stay there. emoticon
6. wish to break that mental obstacle regarding the plateau. emoticon

UPDATE TO THE LIST I POSTED BEFORE!

6 things I want to do:

1. take more short, close to home trips, like the folk concert. emoticon not yet too busy organizing for selling the condo
2. get below 250 and stay there. emoticon
3. sleep less in the daytime. emoticon
4. see our daughter more. If they get another working car, that should be possible. emoticon (although all is not rosy)
5. clean off my desk--so I can attack the taxes. emoticon I am waiting now for the federal refund--which exactly balances what I owed for state taxes. Darn! CT does not give me any deductions for all the caregiving expenses. Bummer!
6. make the condo more attractive. I have some lovely things put away. Just daily life is daunting and I have no energy left for making here look inviting. (I am forced into doing this because of trying to sell the condo. But most decorative things are being packed up to move, especially family photos)

Interesting to look back on this list!

Of course she helped spoil me. She does get her own way though too and does it very nicely.

Things I want to do or wish I had done.

My thoughts mostly are about having fun things to do around here. (Travel will have to wait.)
I did get to Texas, Mexico, South Carolina, Canada, France emoticon , Jamaica, NY state of course, places in CT of course, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and other places.

Things nearer home that I want to do:
-visit with friends way more often. I have some ideas of how to do that.
-hopefully see a friend who moved to England. I think she will be coming to the states.
-spend more time with my sister
-spend more time with my brothers and their families--which have grown exponentially!
