I'm very excited! I think I've finally gotten into a schedule that includes the gym! I bring my work-out stuff with me in the morning, and drive straight to the gym after work. Last week, on Monday I stretched, 5 min on the stair stepping machine, and 30 min on the exercise bike. I tried to stay in the "weight loss" target heart rate zone.. On Wednesday, I stretched, then did 35 min on the exercise bike. The gym was closed for the holiday on friday-sunday, so I couldn't go, but I've got my stuff ready for today! Now I just need to start reserving exercise machines, and I'll be set!

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving!

It was an abnormal weekend, we are up for state inspection. We are on a make everything spotless kick right now and leaves in the yard are considered a hazard because someone with an unsteady gait could slip and fall!!! Really rather silly, but no other shift would do any cleaning, so my partner and I had all of it to do. You try getting 8 mentally challenged adult women to do anything as a group besides watch tv and eat!! It is exhausting!! LOL But it can also be very rewarding when something that you work on for so long with one of them clicks!! We are finally getting our Huricane Katrina refugee to stop stealling food from other residents!!

Haven't posted here in awhile but am still exercising every day. Yesterday I did Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds Express 2-mile.

At the gym, I've been working on intervals on the treadmill, both on the regular treadmill and special incline treadmill... and working on staying in the target heart rate zone. More details are in my blog.

Yep! But this morning I realized I did more than I should have. I'll have to slow down some on the strength training exercises.

Today it was raining again so I used my sister's elliptical. I managed 40 minutes straight....WHEW! Really felt good that I could go that long now, and my legs are definitely feeling stronger!

So....
I didn't walk today as it was pouring rain. I was going to go use my sister's exercise equipment this afternoon but I wasn't able to motivate myself to get up and get going. Tonight I did my first strength training session with SP's suggested exercises. Can we say ouch?!?!? I am really out of shape! I did strength training for about 40 minutes altogether.

I walked 63 minutes today. Even though it was a lovely day, I really had to push myself to keep going. I kept telling myself, "just one more time around the park..." until I got to close to an hour and then finally walked home.

I worked out at the gym every morning last week for about an hour everytime. I took Saturday off from exercise. My body was pretty sore and needed to relax! Just grocery shopping and running errands was enough.

I'm late to post, but have met the challenge --- love to exercise!

Today I did approx. one hour of strength training, and tried a new workout DVD for the first time --- Leslie Sansone's 3-Mile Weight Loss Walk. The middle mile is my favorite!Doing the whole DVD takes about 45-50 minutes, including cool-down and stretching.

So that's 105 minutes today. Yesterday I walked two hours outside (brisk) and did aerobics, so I've hit 150 minutes. Will try for another 150 over the remaining days of the challenge.

Hard to believe this is even happening to me. Two years ago it took me ten minutes to get my breath back after tying my shoes. Exercise? No way! Now I exercise almost daily.

Kara

Friday I did 30 minutes of a "Power 90" workout and on Saturday I took a 30-minute walk on an undulating bike trail (lots of hills). That makes 180 minutes of workout this week, exceeding my goal. Yee ha!

157 minutes as of 10/06/2007. I added 30 minutes of stationary bike and 37 minutes of walking 2.5 miles.

Today I have 30 minutes of stationary bike and am most likely going to take that 2.5 mile walk again.

Never say never.

Hi all. I just joined yesterday And would love to jump
into this challenge. I find getting exercise incorporated into my day so difficult. I have a 9 month old and am still trying to get the gist of taking care of my needs and my darling daughter's. I'm now ready to address taking care of me, so I'll be better at taking care of her.

Thanks KT,

Yah... I kind of figured that out after I went back and read the posts over again. Another one of my quirks... I don't tend to read things first before posting.

I'm working on that too. Anyways, I'll take on this challenge... 90 minutes total (minimum, not including work related hikes, etc.) since the 3rd.

Never say never.

Well, I've been doing my exercises from day one. I'm not sure what the challenge is here but I know the challenge of daily exercise is becoming less of a challenge with each passing day. After experiencing over five years of slothful activity I've quit smoking (2 yrs. now) and have very recently taken up a battle with my seemingly ever expanding girth and failing health...

So, I guess that's my challenge. Daily exercise, healthy lifestyle, proper foods, rest... fun and commitment.

I'm doing stretches, strength training, aerobics, walks, hikes, warm ups and warm downs on a regular basis now (four days and counting). One day of difficulty so far... day two... but that day's behind me, lessons learned, day two archived.

Thanks for your tremendous support!

Never say never.

I had thought about purchasing the Wii because I enjoy video games, but know I need to be more active. I have a blast playing the DDR, but my husband would never step on the dance pads, at least not intentionally (smile). He might be open to the Wii games especially if they are sports related and avoids the anything that incorporates dance.

I did an hour today (Jazz dance class). That puts me up to 120 minutes so far, with a one-hour workout planned for tomorrow. Woo hoo!

PMORAN69 ~ The Wii is so worth it! It's not just great for parties (we do a weekly game night) but it's exercise that doesn't feel like exercise. This dance revolution game is more of a competition between my husband and me and I'm so worn out but I want to keep playing LOL. Boxing and tennis are great too! They're also releasing WiiFit next January, which has exercises and keeps track of BMI and weight. It's going to be great!

PMORAN69 - I like your challenge so I made it a sticky! (A sticky means it's a thread that "sticks" to the top so it doesn't get pushed down everytime someone starts a new thread. We team leaders can do that!)I had another challenge as a sticky, but it was probably too complicated for newcomers. I will join in your challenge.

The challenge is 150 minutes of exercise between now and Tuesday.

I like the idea about other forms of exercise. I personally go to the gym Mon-Fri. But mainly because I am working on building strength after being almost totally sedentary, I need the weights! Plus it's really close and I don't have to think about it, I just go! This weekend I get to go hiking though, so I'm pumped!

sounds like you are having a blast with your program. I'm looking for a buddy close to where I live so I can do something like that.

Does anybody else have problems doing exercise that seems like, well, exercise? I have started working out with a buddy at the fitness center, and that makes the exercise seem a little less boring, but what I really like to do is exercise in ways that don't seem like exercise. For example, I am now taking a Jazz dance class once a week, and it's a workout! Plus, I love to dance and am really enjoying it. So...to all of you having difficulty exercising like me, I recommend looking for ways that don't seem so boring--roller or ice skating, dancing (ballroom, line, jazz, tap, ballet, belly, etc.), riding a bike, etc. Just my two cents for the day! :-)
