I'm now almost finished my second week ( I started Dec 30th ), and I can say that for the first time, this time around, I'm actually really paying attention to what i'm eating. I'm noticing where the problems are, where the bad stuff is coming from, and i'm making my adjustments accordingly.

I think i'm almost ready to leave Fast Break to head into stage 2, but how do I know forsure that i'm ready? Is there a test or something?

Actually during the Fast Break we aren't supposed to start changing how we eat, but track our normal eating and start thinking about how we're going to change that, so don't stress over the pizza and BK and all that. You're doing great, getting into the thought mode and ready to start making changes...

When I lost the weight I was surrounded similar eating all the time. I sort of lost the first 60-some pounds sneakily. It was before I joined SP and I didn't even tell any family members I was doing, just my friends who were supportive (online). I walked every evening, pushing the kids in a stroller. I just told everyone it helped the baby sleep. And during their nap time I did Richard Simmons' videos. LOL (I love dancing.)

I ate the crap. I didn't really want anyone to know I was eating differently because I have food issues with my family and didn't want that to all come back up again. So like when he brought home pizza I would take 1 piece (or 2 of a smaller pie). I would often remove extra meats that I didn't like or want. I ate very slowly. In the time it took me to go through 1 slice he'd of eaten 3. Surprisingly he never noticed I was eating less. I drank a lot of water. When he was at work I snacked on fruits and veggies and whole wheat cornflakes. If we had burgers I'd take off the top bun. I'd say it was too soggy or tasted weird. I'd eat only a couple fries.

When I cooked at home I replaced almost everything he was eating and he never even realized. The ground beef I mixed with ground turkey even before I froze it. The 2% milk turned into 1%. For baking I used skim royale milk. I used applesauce instead of sugar, started cooking more veggies and serving fruit dishes for desserts. He never realized that the plate had changed...

Old night was:
Hamburger (made with ground beef, egg, splash of milk, seasoning), 2 slices cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, on white bun.
French Fries (pub cut), frozen.
Green beans (canned).
Root Beer

New night was:
Hamburger (ground beef mixed with ground turkey, seasoning) on whole wheat bun. Small amount of shredded cheese, a ton of lettuce and a couple slices of tomato and onion.
Potato wedges. Made from red potatoes (hubby's favourite), just cut up fresh potatoes and bake them on a pan sprayed with cooking spray. Seasoned. Half the amount of what I used to serve of the frozen ones.
Fresh green beans, steamed.
Garden salad with fat free dressing.
Diet root beer or no soda at all.

The burgers and fries (and the bun) got smaller and the veggie portions got larger.
And one night (30 pounds gone) he said "You have lost some weight!" and I said "I have! I think it's all that walking with the baby!" And another morning he came to me proud that HE fit into his smaller sized pants! LOL And the cool thing was (despite working at a restaurant) the more he ate the better stuff the less he was bringing home the crummy stuff!

Anyways, by the time I was down 60 pounds EVERYONE had noticed and were asking about it, and the changes had been in our life for so many months that he didn't even care. We were kind of busy then, hiking and walking and shopping for bikes.

I had a great week. Today was my weigh in day I have lost 8lbs in the first week. I have made my calorie range most days, if not then I was below. I did my exercise as I had planned. Now I just have to keep this up this week with lots of snow on the ground. It is not going to be easy, but I am going to do my best!

I did well this week. I'm having trouble getting all my food in, but have started having a bowl of cereal on the nights my calorie count is under 1000. Who knew eating healthy could make a person not feel hungry?! Anyway, I lost 8.8 lbs my first week and this week lost another 2.8. I'm just happy to be going down the scale instead of climbing up the scale!

I did great this week! I lost 6lbs! I honestly can't believe it. I definitely slacked on my exercise (I only went for a walk twice) but I stuck to my calorie limits and made sure I met all my goals for protein, carbs, and fats. I know this means I probably won't lose anything this week (heck, I might even gain a pound or so back) but it's a huge confidence boost. emoticon

I didn't gain anything but didn't lose either. I need to focus. My husband got pizza 2 times this week and burger king once this week. Then our good friends come over they bring 2 pork ribs and a cut a beef sooo big it looked like the back half of the cow !!!! I can't eat any of that I'm still on the fast break part of my plan. I just feel like everyone is against me and my efforts to lose weight. I need to stay focused on why I'm making this change . emoticon

Wow, I did better than I expected. I really tried for the 8 cups of water and my other personal goal was to eat at least 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit. I was amazed at how much fuller I felt eating all those frt/vgt and drinking so much water. I also, went back to walking and biking as well as the 28 day bootcamp. I feel better already

Congrats to everyone on their success this week.

I had a really great week. I made to the gym five days and really watched what I ate. I increased my water intake and decreased sodas.

I hope everyone has a great upcoming week.

Hi Nomorebreaks-
I'm doing the Healthy Cooking Challenge. Would that help you? I don't like to cook, so am making myself accountable with the challenge. Good luck!

I was surprised (and pleased) to find that I did lose in week 1. I lost 2.7 pounds. I ate very very badly, but I guess the walking pays off!

This week I'm more focused on the food. It's time to get that under control. I remember actually enjoying food and cooking, and how much better everything tasted once I was eating properly. So I'm going to work my way back to that!

Yesterday was my 1 week weigh-in, and I'd lost 5 pounds. Another pound gone this morning makes 6. Woohoo! I find it helps to view each mealtime and scheduled exercise time as an opportunity to make the healthy choice. That keeps it from feeling like deprivation or drudgery for me.
Congrats to us all!

I weigh in again tomorrow morning, but lost 8.8 lbs the first week. I've also joined the 28 day bootcamp and am hoping that will help me establish an exercise program - exercise is not something I like to do. Coach Nicole makes it seem easy - but I think I hit bottom with my weight and am determined to get healthy and fit.
Good job to all of you who lost - and to those who had problems this week, hang in there. There isn't a time limit - you don't have to stress over a bad day/week. Just get right back on it! We're here for you!

Congrats to everyone on you weight loss, but those who did nto loose congrats on stickign with the programme, life gets in the way, you could easily have given up , but you have'nt, and that is what it is all about, dusting yourself off and carrying on :)

2lb weight loss for me, which i did nto expect, i did not count calories/track as I get obssessed, so stuck to portion control and included a lot healthier foods and cut out al sorts of snacks except for one small sweet snack per day ( am a very big sweet tooth) seems to be working so far, am loving exercising too

This has been an eye-opening week! I've struggled a few days to keep in my calorie range. I had no idea how much I was eating! Spending a lot of time on here getting inspired to keep it up!

I agree with Nomorebreaks - I keep a notebook around to jot down my food and enter it later on days I can't get to the computer. Good luck with week two everybody!

Seems like you're doing pretty good.
For crisis days I have a backup plan. I have a small red notebook (it says "Girl Power" lol) that I keep in my purse where I jot down foods and exercise. I don't worry about numbers so much as just keeping tracking of what goes in. During stressful times our bodies burn more anyways. And when I can't workout I have some back up plans for that. THings like walking stairs in buildings, or even just reading fitness articles count for my fitness minutes in emergencies.

Congratulations on your successful first week. Seeing such awesome progress certainly keeps the motivation going. I am wrapping up my first week today. I have already posted an amazing 8 pound loss after my first weigh-in since joining SP.

SP is delightfully simple. Set and follow reasonable goals and you'll see results.

So far, so good. I am still figuring out various aspects of SP, but sticking with entering my nutritition and fitness. I enter a lot of food not on the meal plans, so it's been interesting to have to record the full nutritional content of various foods. I hadn't known some of the foods I eat were so nutritent-dense, while others had harmful ingredients (e.g., trans fats). Looking forward to another week!

When emergencies come up - especially family emergencies - you just need to roll with it. Next week is a new week (and this week is over), so focus on this new week!

This first week has been successful for me. I have made a conscious effort to enter my food in the nutrition tracker BEFORE I eat - this helps me to maintain my portion size and not return for seconds (one of my goals). I have lost 2.4 pounds, which is more than I expected because I have not been able to exercise too much this week! I'm looking forward to adding in more exercise next week! emoticon

My first week has gone pretty iffy. I started off with a lot of motivation, tracking my calories and checking in with spark people every day. One of my family members had surgery tuesday and she ended up having to stay in the hospital. Because I've been spending so much time in the hospital with her I haven't been tracking my calories, or even exercising.

Not a great start to such an important week. I still want to get my weight loss rolling, and I am hoping for a better start next week.

My week's not up yet but so far I'm doing great. One thing that helps is that I enter my food before I eat so I don't overdo it (or underdo it) I'm also tracking my fiber and challenging myself to get enough fiber and protein by the end of the day.

My first week is still in progress also, but so far I am feeling pretty good about how I'm doing.

I am learning some things I need to tweak for the second week...Like I think it will help me if I enter my day's menu into the planner BEFORE I eat instead of the morning after. I was really down on myself last night because I thought I ate terribly, and turns out that my dinner wasn't all that filling and I ate pretty well.

And I'm not freaking out like I normally do when my plans have to be altered. That is pretty cool. One night I knew my pants wouldn't be dry to walk in, so I planned a later walk for the next day....but when I woke up it was pouring down rain and the puddles were over my shoes. I knew it would still be going later so I got out the Wii Fit and put in 20 minutes on it.... The old me would have freaked out, skipped the walk, been all upset, and then ate to try to make myself feel better. The new me just made a plan.

I can do that!

Despite not eating very well yet I lost a little bit of weight all ready. I know that most of what comes off the first week is just retained water, but still....it feels pretty good.

Congrats to everyone who is doing great!
emoticon

And let's keep on plugging away, even those of us who aren't meeting goals are still HERE and that shows commitment and hope. We ARE strong enough to do this...and when we feel that we aren't, then we can reach out and lean on each other for awhile!
