I've been a vegan for 13 years. The key to it is to remember your motives. Are you disturbed and appalled at the treatment of animals on factory farms? Are you sickened by the destruction of the environment? Do you want to see improvements in your own health? All of those are some of the most major reasons people go vegan. I'm mainly vegan for the animals, however also care about the environment and my own health.

The Vegan Kick-Start is well worth it. I simply cut meat cold turkey (ha, turkey! no pun intended) and 2 years later kicked dairy. It was a natural progression for me. I"m sure that the new programs they have out now are effective and really rewarding.

I'd like to try this some time - but because I am a weak-willed cheese lover, I was thinking I should try it in the summer when berries are in season and I would have a few more "treats" availabe to me.

Hey howdy there!

I like to bring this up--they start it about 3 different times a year and this time around it starts on January 3rd. pcrm.org/kickstartHome/

For those who don't know, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine does this thing where for 21 days they send out daily e-mails and information, give you access to their site and meal plans and such, and it basically helps you get healthier or vegan. If anything, if you're trying to become vegetarian its a helpful start at the least.

I tried this once before a year ago and it helped me out (I stopped the vegan thing because i had no paycheck for months and had to subsist on dad's junk food and meat--which didn't help me). Its great for ideas and quick stuff, and ways to implement more fresh foods in your diet. There're lots of resources at the site--check it out and sign up by January 3rd if you want to!
