Congratulations!!!! I did Monday's challenge, but then was sick Tuesday and stayed home from work. Didn't move from bed. Still feeling so-so today, but was thinking I might do the Day 30 part of the challenge today anyway, just because it feels unfinished.

And now getting ready to do July's day 1! I'll go ahead and post...

Those should be the ACTUAL name of yoga poses! More people would probably do yoga that way. That is HILARIOUS! Pretty accurate actually :)

PMC - totally agree with RI: Just start where you are :) Day 1 is great (or whatever you feel able to do), and just do a week of it if you like! I am definitely not able to do what's listed for day 24 on these challenges. I just modify as I can. And I take breaks.

Yoga always begs for lewdness. hahah! Here's a pic that got passed to me from several friends once I became a teacher :)

But I do like the idea of maybe just 1 pose a day -- maybe building to a set, but maybe not. Maybe 1 strength pose on MWF and a stretching pose Tue/Thurs... hmm... I'll ponder :)

PMC-We are working on a July Challenge now. KASHII will probably post it towards the end of the month. You are welcome to join us for the rest of this month. You don't have to start on day 23, you can start with day one if you would like. I am still doing modified versions of the pushup challenge. Keep an eye out for July because it should go up near the 29th or 30th. We are happy to have you join us!

So KASHII.....I did find some Yoga Challenges. Mostly they are a different pose every day. However, some of these poses look tricky AND if you are trying to avoid lewd comments, I am thinking a few of these poses would not be a good idea.

I was hoping there would be another challenge for July - I felt like I came in too late for the June challenge - I don't think I'm fit enough to join you where you are.

Wow 3:40?! Awesome! We repeated 2min today for plank and wall sits, and did 16 pushups.

I am definitely up for another challenge in July! I was thinking of reverse sit ups (aka: superman) because my acupuncturist and physical therapist say I need to strengthen my core and back to help with my spine. I'm supposed to be able to do 200 sit ups, and 200 reverse sit ups. Yikes! I can do 55 right now..

but would also love some arm stuff again! And happy with leg stuff, or core :) And the staff is asking for yoga, but not sure what they mean by that -- flexibility? cardio? strength? Plank IS a yoga pose... so, need to figure that out, too.

Man, you impress me! Since I slowed it down for our older staff, we're only at 2 minute wall sits and planks. The wall sit isn't too bad - I've always had stronger legs - but I can't get the 2 minute plank! Made it about 1:15, then had to start taking breaks. And I'm only able to do 15 pushups. The staff (all darker skinned since they're various ethnicities of the Pacific islands) laugh at me and my bright red face when I do them. haha! Today, our cashier went, "ooo, Kate! Your face is like apple!" Oh well, if I can make them smile for any reason - including laughing AT me - then I will consider that a win and boost to staff morale. :)

Thanks for the support yet again!!
Today I did the full three minutes for the wall sit! YAY!!
However, I had to rest during planking and had to take breaks during pushups. After planking, my arms were jell-o and did not want to push my body up!!

I had a lapse day yesterday and ate poorly. I let my emotions get the best of me. Then today the Wall Sit was super difficult.....

I am not going to let one day derail me though! I am going to do the full exercises even if I have to break them up into 10 second times that equal the total time!

So, today I focused on my form a lot more. Turns out, I had really poor form for Planking! I corrected it and Oh my goodness, did my abs feel it!!

I have incorporated 15 minutes of stair work every other day and I felt it in my wall sit this morning! I had to break the 2 minutes into 1 minute a piece. I had shaky legs like the picture I had posted!

Up to 17 pushups and had to break those up too. My arms are pretty week but I did do a total of 17!

Woo! Boosted them from 1:20 to 1:45 today! And from 11 to 13 pushups. Figured since it's Friday, they could afford to be a little extra sore and tired for tomorrow ;-) I must admit, I had to drop from plank a few times to rest my shoulders.

I did the pushups I said I would (15 since that is day 10) and 100 second of wall sit, which I had to do in two sets since it was SO much harder than I thought it would be. I know I can't do 6 sets of 20-40 seconds of plank though.

Hi STFC! Glad to have another member on board!

We added another 10 seconds to the wall sit and plank (so, 80 seconds for each) and did 11 pushups again - but I anticipate pushing them to 13 tomorrow ;-)

It makes me sooo happy to hear their comments. Our head cook was telling me that he really likes the wall sit and plank, that he can tell they're effective and use a lot of his muscles. And the two elder women said that their backs - which normally cause them pain - are feeling better! yay for back muscle building! And one of the women said she used to have trouble walking, that her hips and knees were so stiff that she felt she was more dragging her feet than actually walking - but she now feels more flexibility and can walk normally again. And we're only on day 11!

Two of the younger men had gone out drinking yesterday and were semi hung over today, and they said they could tell. So I used the chance to give them a mini pep talk about cutting back on alcohol, because look how it affects their strength and energy! Don't they want more energy every day? ;-)

And we sang Happy Birthday while in the wall sit, since it's one person's Bday today.

I am so ridiculously proud of them all!!

Well SLAP, hopefully this will help you build up to more then 50! Welcome to the challenge!

Me thinks so, too ;-)

So, since we're taking it easy on our staff, today was 70 second wall sits and 70 second plank, and 11 pushups. But they all did it! And some nurses were in the cafeteria setting up for their luncheon today and watched us ;-) I thought the kitchen staff would be too shy and not want to do it, but I think they got excited about showing off their improvements! I told the nurses they should come join us since we do it at the same time every morning! (I doubt any will, but I'm trying to encourage them!)

I agree with the oddness of the lack of rest days. I've adjusted these challenges for my staff -- we have people who are older, high blood pressure, shoulder issues, etc - and they're not great at taking it easy when they should. So I told them to relax on the weekends, rest and recover. And we may lessen the times for some of these.

But then I go and do them in my office ;-)

So, for plank, there are 2 days of rest per week, and since we moved those to the weekend, that meant today we did "day 7" - hold as long as you can. I was impressed! The shortest time was STILL a fantastic 50 seconds, and the longest was a battle between two of our guys who both made it 1min 50 seconds! Woohoo! I am SO proud of them! :)

Welcome, CITH! glad to have you on board with the challenge! No worries about the knee -- definitely better to listed to your body than injure something.

Oh, I joined just in time for a challenge! I'll be doing the push-ups....and attempting the wall sit one, but I have a wonky knee that doesn't always like to play nice, so I may not be able to do those every day.

IT'S JUNE 1ST HERE!!

Did all three, and got the rest of my staff involved! :) So proud of them! We have some elder women who haven't ever exercised, so I watched them to make sure they took things slowly and carefully - but they said it felt good to use their muscles! Also have some young men who are strong, but larger than they want to be - hoping this will help motivate them to make other small daily changes, too :)

Cool, I'll do at least one every day. I'm already doing physio exercises every day so I can just add on one more exercise!

STARTS MONDAY JUNE 1ST!

Pick 1, 2, or all 3! Boost your STR Stats!

There are modifications for these if you prefer - you can go to your knees for plank and pushups; widen the arms for pushups to make it a bit easier; don't go to a 90 degree angle on the wall sit, etc.

These are the ones we were looking at, but if you want a higher or lower starting and/or finishing point, let me know and we'll find a different one. Or just google "30 day [insert exercise here] challenge" for many different levels.
