(Sigh) Doing OK calorie wise so far today, but just realized as I went to track that I have not had a single fruit or vegie yet today. Going to have to take care of that. Pad Thai for lunch, which was good and spicy (and fairly high calorie to boot), but no vegies came with it.

Went to the chiropractor, who said my hip was "rotated" and asked me if I had kicked someone. :) The hip was already much better again today, and she helped it even more, so I stopped at the gym and tried a little exercise. I limited the treadmill to a very slow 25 minutes (wanted to get a mile in). The leg was a little iffy by the end of it, but not bad, and it isn't hurting now. Also did some arm exercises, the lat pulldown that the physical therapist had me doing, and took it up by 5 pounds, which went well, so I tried some other ones. One was OK, another was OK as long as I stopped after 5 reps, and still a third one was almost back to normal, except both arms have lost strength over the last 2 1/2 months since I injured the one.

All in all, getting back to normal physically. Won't get a chance at it tomorrow or Friday (concert one night, with a 6:15 call, and granddaughter's school event and overnight with me on the next), but WILL get to the gym on Saturday and Sunday, no matter what!! Well, short of hurting myself someway again, which seems to have become a bad habit.

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.

Week 4, Day 2. Well, errr....it's still day two here, but I see the site has turned over to tomorrow, which means I really need to quit doing this and go to bed.

Did well with the eating today. Did eat dinner at Ruby Tuesdays, but got a "chicken bella" with zucchini and spaghetti squash, which was advertised as having 500 calories, plus I ate a couple of their cheesy biscuits. What it boils down to is that I stayed at the lower end of my calorie range, and got in a total of five servings of vegetables and fruits today, so feel like I did pretty well. The "daily report" says the whole diet for the day was unbalanced as far as carbs, fat and protein, but the Ruby Tuesday thing didn't have all of the nutrition information, having been entered by individuals who probably just didn't have access to it.

My hip is better today. It is down from the O(gasp)MG with every step level of Sunday and Monday to an occasional "ow" when I step wrong. Much easier getting up and down at rehearsal tonight. I am still holding off on the exercise until this gets completely well. Don't want another injury that will take me out for weeks. I'll have a chance to go to the chiropractor tomorrow, so maybe she can fix me. Sure hope so. I suspect I have already lost some ground, and I really wanted to be up to 3.2 MPH on the treadmill by next week. Think I will have to give it at least another week at this rate.

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.

Week 4, Day 1. Did pretty well with the eating today, although I need a couple more veggies than I got. Not going to have time to cook anything substantial this week, so my "meal plan" is to eat stuff from the freezer and piece a lot. I do feel better when I get in the fruits and veggies, so I am going to work on that.

Went to work really early today (some degree of flex time is there) thinking I could go to the gym before rehearsal tonight. Didn't happen. I started to develop a pain in my left hip yesterday, and it is still there. By afternoon, it was a challenge just to get to my car in the parking lot. Don't know what is going on. Doesn't hurt until I walk, then every time I put my foot down a sharp pain goes through the hip. It is certainly interfering with my exercise plans the last two days.

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.

Started week 4 and feeling like a have a ton of energy. Eating more fruits and veggies has really helped. I haven't needed a nap in over a week! Tomorrow I finally get to see the dietician. I don't really need to lose weight so not seeing much of that but am working out consistently and eating healthier and slower.

I'm so excited too because I won 2 $25 gift certificates in this challenge! Got an email from Tanya and am so excited! Thank you SparkPeople!

I am not having any problem with the strength training! Actually I just love it. My biggest set back has been my lunch time eating and my BG levels show it. I am afraid I'm going to fail my A1c big time....

My goal is to have my diagnosis stay at pre-diabetic! With fasting #'s like 191 I think it is too late for that.

Starting week 4, round 2. The past several days I've been having trouble getting enough exercise in (haven't been feeling well) but I did manage to lose 2 pounds last week. Pre-planning my meals for the next day worked to keep me within my ranges. Yippee!!! Now to work on getting back into the habit of exercise in the mornings before work.....

Yesterday I rocked! I did my strength training with a little change in the routine to add interest. I also go my cardio in. I stayed in my calorie range and felt great all day. My BG is still really higher than I want but I think that I will start coming down as I eat healthier.

Just checking in for week 4. Nutrition going well, activity not so well. I get to step up the activity level. Tonight I will jog in place for 10 minutes. Never put off till tomorrow what can be done today! Have a great evening everybody!

I am hoping in week 5 I will eat closer to the recommended foods. I went food shopping this morning, spent lots of money, and came home and ate NOT according to the plan. I had made a pork roast which I had thawed. My husband wants meat and more meat. It smelled so great that I had that for dinner, too. It was not on today's meal plans. I hope tomorrow I do better with the eating.

I need to now go get the rest of the groceries out of the car and put them away.

Good luck to you all! Chris

I have a digital scale which I like. you tap it, it goes to 00 and you step on it. Seems to be very accurate. It even shoes the ounces. How can you deal with spurs on your toes?? It must be painful. Well you take care and take it easy.

I will be exercising in a little while. Toes are still sore. Found out that I also have a bone spur at the tip of both the big toes. but, that would entail them going in and actually cutting off the bone spur itself from both toes. The toes have been through enough trauma for this year. So, I will put up with them for now.
Need to purchase a scale for my home so I would actually be able to weigh once a month when I first wake up in the evenings. (That is our morning time as we work nights)
I weigh my patients at work in the hospital first hing in the morning-6am as that is when the doctors want it.
I found out that when I weighed at the doctor's that his scale was off and needed calibration-but, they still used it. So, not too sure of the actual weight then.

Now to get Digital or Analog scale??? I need one that runs accurate and is not expensive for my budget. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Been out of commission for almost a month because of my heart. Jumping backi in where I left off. Hard to get back to tracking. Doc won't allow exercise right now. I was losing with exercise. Can't judge if I'm doing what I should by weight because congestive heart failure causes water retention and, therefore, weight gain, even if I eat right, so I have to just do what I should do and leave the results to God. Having a hard time getting back to planning my meals.

Day 2 - Still going strong.... we are out of town at the parents in laws house so I am a little apprehensive of the meals. They tend to order out alot so I'll be sticking with salads and dressing on the side. There are also alot of sweet things in the house, so this weekend will really test my motivation.

Week 4- So far throughout this challenge it been a series of ups and downs where some days I am super motivated and do everything right...and other days where Im not as motivated and make poor decisions...This week I intend on BRINGIN IT! I am super focused and ready to really do this is do it right...it is the halfway point of this challenge for me and I intend on really making an effort and pushing myself to the max this week =)

I also meet with my endocrinologist on Friday and I am really excited to see if my hardwork these past couple months will have made a difference in my lab work and stuff...I've never been excited to go to the Dr. before but now that I am actually doing what they ask me to do I am not afraid of getting lectured or having her be upset with me because I am finally on the right track...

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Week 4

Last week was not a good week. Craved many things and gave into it. Didn't exercise as much as I should have.
This Week has been better. I haven't been able to get to the gym but I am doing some videos at the home. I gained about 1/2 lb from last weeks binging. I am so happy that was all.
I will do better this week because this is best for my health & body. I exercise because it helps with the pain in my hip. Plus, it make me feel good inside. That I was able to do it. When I am not active, my joints begin to hurt. I start feeling awful and it stinks!!

Week 4 Day 6

Still working my way through emotional landmines; DH made dinner last night - not exactly "per plan", but potato soup made lower in fat than "mom's recipe" and portion controlled. I had some leftover garlic spiked broccoli & mushrooms that I added to my bowl to displace some of the less plan friendly ingredients.

Comfort food; fire in the fireplace; reading a good story by the fire on a cold and rainy evening; later enjoying a new TV show while snuggling on the couch with hubby...I NEEDED that!

Awoke for the third morning in a row at 3:30 and could not return to sleep!! Cannot shut off my random worry thoughts in the quiet hours...not like me...but on the bright side I'm wide awake by 4:30 and get up 45 minutes early makes my morning chores more manageable! Gonna have to crash soon though.

wow, the last day of my fourth week already.....I am eating far healthier than I ever have, I do feel some regrets that I couldn't have started doing this 20 years ago, but at least I am doing it now!

Tough emotional weekend...adult daughter making some life decisions that are hard to watch...

Trying to remember that eating my way through serves no one.

Checking in, I have lost a couple of pounds but that may be due to the IBS. I am gradually reconciling the diabetic and IBS foods. The most difficult is not being able to eat any raw foods.

Ended week 3 on a less than great note, but I'm praying that I'm back on track as I start week 4. I actually stretched this morning (one of my fast break goals) and hope to make this an ongoing practice.

Back on track with the weight --lost the lbs gained last week and am back even-keel. Running 2.5 miles 3 days a week. Walking in between. My fat is at least firm!
