Before I started reading material in the GI and GL diets I was afraid to have too much fruit, and I love it. Since I started keeping track of the glucose loads and have stopped eating starch, I eat at least 3 fruits a day, and my blood sugars have stayed normal. I feel like the soft drink makers and food lobbyists from the cereal lobby have created the obesity epidemic all over the world. What we have done to our children by way of diet is criminal, but I don't see a revolution in their diet futures.

It is amazing how foods that was once a favorite can become the last you want. It isn't that I don't like them, it is just I say to myself that I will have it another day. It is like that old saying "tomorrow never comes."

Way to go. It sounds like you have a handle on it. What I like is when I stay on track, my blood sugar tells me how good I am doing. emoticon

I began this challenge using the food tracker so I would have a more clear idea of how many calories, carbs, etc that I eat. The first week or so I did really good at entering my foods, but I have started slacking off and resorted to a little notebook that goes in my purse.

The doctor wants me to eat 1800 calories a day...wow....somedays I eat that and others I don't. The food journal that I pack with me daily is not only tracking what I eat but what my spouse eats also. It has made him aware of the junk that he is consuming in a day's time.

Trying to add in a few items that I have avoided for 2weeks just to see how they effect my blood sugar levels. I have been really surprised but the lack of desire for some items like mac-n-cheese (my favorite comfort food). Tested myself with eating out at Olive Garden and really surprised myself last week, so when we went on a day trip, I found that I could resist temptation and order a grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat bun w/o fries.

I just might have the hang of this.
