I just got diagnosed with pre diabetes. I will try to eat healthier and move a little(I have arthritis in one knee so it is hard to do). I also can't have dark greens because I am taking coumadin. I have no willpower to I hope my husband (who has diabetes) will push me in the right direction.

thanks for the welcome everyone....Leslie..I know what it is like to hit a plateau..been there...good luck..losing 35lbs is awesome..I have lost and put on weight so many times..this time I hope I can keep it off..cause I am scared about getting diabetes..I quit smoking 40 years ago because I was scared..so I am pretty confident I can lose and keep the weight off Sandi.

Sandi, I hope you recover quickly.

I have not lost 45 yet, but I sure wish I was there! You sure put a smile on my face! No, it's 35. I'm proud of that, but I've been stuck there for awhile, so I'm ready to move on.

Let me know if I can help you.

Hi and welcome! You are smart to do this now before you become full-blown.

I highly recommend low-carb eating to lose weight and control diabetes. It's harder to lose for us older folks (the young zip through it) and insulin resistance makes it hard too. But it can be done. And you may lose inches even while the scale is not moving much. I am down 35 pounds since January and currently 2 pants sizes (my recent victory.)

More importantly my sugars are normal. My last A1C was 5.0, lower than my sister's. She is not diabetic. She eats healthy to lose weight, but not this way.

I was diagnosed in January, and I was borderline. My sugars started going down almost immediately.

Read Atkins Diabetes Revolution. Don't do the current Atkins plan. Their website is geared toward selling their frozen foods. But the older Atkins books are good. I like the Atkins New Diet Revolution, written in the 90s. The diabetes book was his last.
