Low carb is the best way to get sugars down. For prediabetes, this will be very quick. Weight loss is fast for the relatively young. For me in my 50s, it is slower but I am still making progress.

Recently told by doc that I am pre-diabetic. I don't want to be a diabetic so I've set goals to lose weight, eat healthier and get more exercise. I do go to gym 3X a week but I think I can do a better workout.
