I saw your post. I am a Marine spouse (ret), a Marine mom, and a Navy mom X2. I have been battling the high glucose number for a few years and this week, my new doctor in a wellness program, told me that I do have diabetes. My cholesterol was up and glucose too. BUT when I asked whether it was "borderline", I guess that was not a good way to say it, but I was a little surprised. He put me on Crestor, a low dose, for 8 weeks and has not given me medication for the diabetes; will test again in December. So, I think he was throwing down the gauntlet and I have already begun to add more exercise DAILY and trying to make changes in our eating habits. I am going to a class in early November with a dietician that he says will really help. O.K. Well, yesterday I started out o.k. but this morning was starving. Please give me some ideas for very quick snacks and breakfasts. I am gradually getting rid of items that aren't good for us, then gradually adding more appropriate items. I already was using a lot of fresh and frozen veg and fruits, but am cutting out high fat cheeses and dairy, adding the no fat and skim in very small portions. I already just drink water and have coffee in the a.m., maybe unsweetened teas in the afternoon. I just start to freak out when I have a sudden need to refuel and I can't figure out what to eat! Thanks!

Don't give up the ship!

For the last 10 years the doctors have been telling me it's not a question of if, it's a question of when. With 4 gestational diabetic pregnancies behind me, and family history, I have been very happily so well diet controlled you would never know. Until resontly.... I have had some trouble with my blood sugar getting way beyond what it has ever been before, and they put me on medication. Medication I have been avoiding. So I want off as soon as possible. My goal, is to get off the meds plain and simple. They upset my sleep, my tummy, and I don't like them.
