Completed week 1 without a single day of exercise. Shame, shame.
But doing well on diet as I' ve got my blood sugar down significantly and moving in the right direction.

I have been tracking my food so far this week and been really watching what I eat - and don't eat. My FBS has dropped 14 points so far but still a ways to go.
I still haven't been able to motivate myself to exercise. I have all the gym equipment here at home so I don't even need to leave the house to get on with it.
Although that may be part of the problem. When I lived in states and belonged to a gym I was very religious about going and getting full exercise at least 5 days per week. I think exercising alone is part of the problem.
However, got to get over it and get moving.

i'M tracking everything and shocked at how the calories added up. I went over my daily calorie intake by 1500. I ate mostly protein, nuts, cheese, turkey slices. goodness!

Day 2
I tracked my food yesterday so there's a start.
However, no exercise unless walking around market pushing a cart counts.
Today I am experiencing a lot of pain but will try to at least get 10 minutes in.

Day 1 continued:
Just got back from endocrinologist and FBS out of control. I'm ashamed to even state the number.
As this is day one again all I can say is maybe this time.

For those of you who have been following and supporting me on this odyssey here's what's happening: I went to spinal clinic on Friday and consulted with doctor who ordered new x-rays and an MRI. On Saturday went to see him for results. My "apparatus" from original surgery that stabilizes my 2.3.4 & 5 lumbar vertebrae is still in place. However, the discs between 1 & 2, between 2 & 3 and 5 & 6 are bulging causing the pinching of my left sciatic nerve thus causing the pain and drop foot.
First we are trying a new medication called Lyrica that is supposed to reduce nerve inflammation. If that doesn't work I go back for cortisone shots to the offending areas.
Doctor says the shots between 1 & 2 and 5 & 6 will be easy but, because the 2 & 3 is within the area of the apparatus is may be difficult to get a needle in there.
In the interim, I have to get myself back on track regarding diet and exercise thus getting my glucose levels back under control.
So here I go again with this challenge.

I had a talk with myself this morning. I just have to stop being tempted by cake, ice cream etc. I had one semi-legitimate excuse in that I ate some of my birthday cake but "some" turned out to be way too much and for two days. There is ice cream in the freezer so I am going to be tested.
I did finally get off of my a** yesterday and got just 10 minutes of exercise. I WILL do better today.

Day two.
I seem to be feeling more motivated today but we'll see how that translates into action.
Slept fairly well last night using my CPAP unit, but I still have to deal with my nocturia every two hours or so. But get back to sleep fairly quickly.

Today I have turned 77.
For the last couple of weeks my motivation has been at an old time low.
But, I really want to improve my health conditions and last a bit longer.
No promises.
