First week done. I learned a lot tracking my food, even on the days I went out to eat or overate. Discovered that lunch out can quickly lead to over a 1000 calories, even when careful! (Chinese) When I think what I used to eat at the Chinese buffet!

Finishing up week one and all is well. I'm looking forward to the next week. My BS was 94 this morning, but I took it at 5 AM and usually don't take it until about 9 AM. I have a speech meet to go to today. I had my alarm set for 4:30 so I could ride the bike for 45 minutes and still have time to get ready before a 6:30 AM departure time. I woke up at 2 AM, couldn't go back to sleep, so finally got up at 3 AM to do the bike. Went back to bed, but couldn't fall back asleep. Now 5:15, doing a little Sparking and then off to get ready to leave. I hope you all have a great day.

Hello I am 67 years young. Motivation and communication is needed here, you can find your motivation if you COMMUNICATE to DH he must start buying ice cream in single serving containers and individual Pizzas.

You have to remember that PIZZA, especially if you make it yourself can be very healthy. in both scenarios. PORTION CONTROL is very important. Spark has some really good recipes and you can put them in your favourites to use when you need them. Once you are handling the tracker well you will be off and running. Pat in Maine. emoticon to the challenge.

Well, so far the first few days have been a disaster. Sticking to my plan for eating, only to be thrown off track by a husband who brings home pizza and ice cream! He's 71, runs several times a week and can handle those extra calories and carbohydrates. Not me.....and I always succumb to temptation. I have told him, "no more junk for either you or me!" Let's see if it holds.
I'm really enjoying this challenge. And in checking in, I will have to admit it is a challenge. How could I have lost 60 lbs over the last 10 years and kept it off? I guess I need fo dig up and dust off my motivation, but I'm not sure where I left it.

I went to the gym today even though it is not a normal gym day because I missed Tue and Wed due to the snow. Enough already please. I made a new years resolution to add a third gym day and aside from the first week of Jan the snow has interfered with the planned schedule every week. I should have done ST in the weight room but it was so busy today I was scared. So I did the band workout at home. I'm chicken. But I did do 30 mins on the bike (5 miles) and 25 laps in the pool. I just took my shower to wash the chemicals out of my hair and while I was out I hit the grocery store for a Valentine treat (Hershey Kisses and Hot chocolate) now I just have to hold off making it till the 14th.

Just doing my checkin. BS this morning was 80. Ate OK yesterday, light on calories. Had a BB game, so usually eat popcorn there and that's it for supper. Got my exercise in, although the night 45 minutes on the bike was tough. I was tired, both physically and just sleepy tired. I had planned to do some strength training, but skipped that. I will do that after school today and then i will have my three in for the week. Have a great day.

Go to your page and click edit your page. Find the area about setting up your weight tracker. You can track with pounds to lose so no-one else sees how much you weigh just your goal OR You can set your beginning weight and where you want to get to.

AFTER DOING THIS YOU MUST CLICK SAVE otherwise it will disappear.
Hope it helps and welcome to the team Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning everyone.
I've been trying to figure out how to post the scale on my page but I still can't figure it out.
Is there a simple way to do it.
Once I figure out how to keep finding the 8-week diabetes challenge I will keep working at it.
Right now I have a hard time finding everything the next day for the exercises and posting, it's alittle overwhelming.
I could really use some help.
Thank you and have a great day.

Have had a great week. More energy than I've had in a long time. BS is right on target. Went to Spin Class, at the YMCA every evening this week. 1/2 hour on Monday, 1 hour on Tuesday, 1/2 hour on Wed. and going today 1 hour. Been lifting weights, and doing crunches on abdominal machine, along with back extensions. Did the most ab crunches on machine that I have ever done........200 yesterday. I WILL NOT FAIL I WILL NOT FAIL

Exercising every day--today my exercise was shoveling 14 inches of snow from our driveway. I shoveled for 35 minutes before my toes and fingers started getting too cold! It's surprising how many calories leave the body with shoveling! Awesome! I have been tracking fitness and nutrition since October but am new to the challenge! It keeps me more accountable now though!!

Wow, took me awhile to find this thread. It was buried under more topics. I wished it would stay up on the discussion board fulltime. Enough griping.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. My BS numbers were good and I got in my 90 minutes of cardio. Sometime after school today I have to work in my strength training. I am going to do as much of the video as possible, but things that affect neck and shoulders, I'm going to have to find something else to do. I did what I could of them the last time and I can tell that it aggravated my discs some. I don't want t jeopardize problems with them again.

So, I better finish up and get ready for school. It's soooo cold here in ND right now. I don't even want to go out!

Hi, I may not get checked in here daily but will try for once a week. This has been a good week as far as blood sugar goes. Have been well within the limits I am supposed to be and each day I am means another day with no medication of any kind!!!!! Thank the Lord.

I am starting this challenge today. It looks like a great way to add some stregth training which I am sorely lacking to my routine, continue losing weight, and keep my blood sugars levels on track.

Good Luck everyone!

I have just started this quest here on this team and I am glad of it! I went grocery shopping last night and got the fresh veg. stocked in my frig. I thought they would be too expansive, but low and behold, I only spent $79 at Wall Mart,I even got some great looking steaks and some shrimp! I am so excited because I now realize, That yes, I Can do this with success!

BESHKA76 - Hello. I think its a choice you make. I will probably check in everyday, because otherwise I forget then have to catch up. I think you can post weekly if you want, too. That's my goal for posting, but I need to get my brain in gear first. Grand success in reaching your goals and dreams.

For myself - Day 1 Goal = Food & Exercise Trackers will be completed, water requirements will be met or exceeded. The reason I joined is to learn more healthy ways for losing more weight and beating Pre-Diabetes II. I'm down 1 pound from yesterday and I am currently at my lowest since joining SP about 3 years ago. I made it here once, then gained 15 back and now I'm at that lowest point for me again. I can't remember weighing less than I am right now. I know there was a time, but I don't remember it. I'm almost 63 years old and I'm going to take of years along with the pounds. If I can do (And I KNOW I can) anyone can do it! So please feel free to give me all the tips, pointers, and good ideas for learning how to eat and exercise for health. I'm trying to follow the 30 carbs a meal plan, which actually worked for me back when I first joined SP, but I got off the track and since Chritmas I've been pushing back to the 30 carbs a meal again. It works for me. But I know the world changes on a daily basis and so I'm looking for pointers. I love changing my exercise routine up, although I have a pretty good one, but new things to try make it more fun. Just got a brand new exercise room in the clubhouse and it's full of fantastic state of the art equipment. I've been trained by a personal trainer on how to use each machine and I plan on using them to do my strength workouts, but I can still do them here at home, too.
Have fun everyone!
