As a newly diagnosed diabetic I was told to try and lose 10 lbs so my first goal is to lose 10 lbs by getting my eating under control and doing more exercise. I have now tracked my food for 5 days and drank 8 glasses of water a day for 5 days and increased my walking though with a bad back this is getting hard to do. so I am doing the chair exercises in place of walking.

I found out that I am diabetic about 3 wks ago. I'm sure that I have been diabetic for longer than that. I've lost many family members to diabetes. So I'm here for a few reasons. Here are my goals
1. lower my sugar and manage my carb intake
2. do cardio for 30-45 mins, 5x a wk
3. do strength for 30-45 mins 3x a wk

My first goal is to learn some basic strength training so I can integrate it into my cardio routine.

Second, I am going to lower my blood sugar out of the pre-diabetic range.

Last, I am going to build habits so this is something I can do even after I meet my weight loss and blood sugar goals.

I want to get my waking blood sugar level back to normal.

I want to increase my physical fitness by dancing, walking, yoga and/or strength exercises to at least 10 minutes per day, everyday.

I want to eat a healthier diet and lower my daily carb intake.

I was diagnosed a year ago. I have been in pretty big denial for the last year. I'm finally taking this seriously even though I should have forever ago. I'm trying not to hate myself for taking so long to get myself together.
Goal #1: Get my blood sugar within normal limits
Goal #2: Drop 80 pounds to get to my goal weight
Goal #3: Exercise 5 days a week
Goal #4: Eat more natural foods and less processed foods

Jennifer =)

Last year diagnosis with heart failure and copd and put on diuretic. This resulted in lab work being done every month and discovered glucose in the pre-diabetic range from 110 to 103. 6 months before the first lab test glucose was 90. In last two years I have switched to cooking own food to decrease gluten and sodium, decreased carb intake and started exercising (though not consistent due to breathing problems) but now this problem has appeared. None of my doctors seem concerned about my glucose number but I am as I can't take anything more going wrong so here I am.

Goal 1- Learn about meal planning, what to eat and not eat, tracking food what and how, etc. to bring down glucose level to normal.
Goal 2- be consistent with doing an effective exercise program.
Goal 3 - lose 5 lbs.
Goal 4 - track food consistently (which I hate since I have to do it one ingredient at a time).

Hey howdy--here are my basic goals for the next several weeks

1. diet and exercise to lose enough weight that I can call my doctor back in 8 weeks and give her a heads up on my weight loss and she won't have to prescribe me anything for my "borderline diabetes" (i am afraid of having to take meds--with my current job situation, no way i could afford medication)

2. after that initial "whew, relief" weight, keep the habits going to drop more pounds of useless fat and gain more energy and fit into my closet of professional-looking clothes again..

3. use less sugar on a daily basis--get to the point where I don't really want it and a small desire for some doesn't turn into a binge.

4. stop drinking coffee past noon, switch to herbal tea if i want a refreshing hot drink any other time of the day--and stick to it. it makes it too easy to have sugar all day long (and is my easiest addition of sugar in the day)

5. midpoint goal: I also just joined the 30 day vionic-inspired challenge. at the end of 30 days, if i've been doing well, i'm treating myself to a pair of those walking shoes. by "doing well," i of course mean subscribing to the steps in the challenges on that group AND this one. The benefit is less frivolous spending on meals out of the house if i want to afford 'em (boom, two shot!)

My goals are to get my A1C under 7.2 and reduce the uric acid level in my blood. I need to lose weight and start an exercise routine. I work alternating late and regular hours and this sometimes makes it difficult.

My goals are to:
1. Look myself in the mirror and start to like who I am once again
2. Get back into the habit of daily exercise
3. Get into the habit of measuring and tracking my food
4. Loose 10% of my body weight (approx 20 lbs) as my doctor thinks if I can do this then I can probably be taken off my diabetes medication.

I probably should have waited to Sunday or Monday to join; however, just being diagnosed as diabetic on 4/6/16, two days after my 65th birthday, I'm anxious to learn more about diabetes, what I can/cannot eat, how to lose weight, etc. I was not put on insulin or pills, but I'm scheduled to meet with a dietitian. So main goal is to lose weight and get off this prednisone that didn't help my weight at all. Gained 14 pounds since November 17, 2015 (practically in 5 months).

Hello, all!

I posted my goals on 3/8, about getting past the flu so I could focus on my diabetes. Well, it has been a real battle! But with a new doctor I'm finally seeing improvement. So my new goal is to continue to get healthier past the flu, and start some real exercise. I did some callisthenics a day or two ago, and I want to keep that up on as close to a daily basis as possible.

So since I only lost .7 oz for the week than I guess it is time for me to ask for some help :(, as far as my sugar count it was 90 at 9:00pm, so I thought I would eat something so that it does not drop anymore then that. I work nights so i am also trying to figure out what I can do for exercise. I have a stately job and I do not like walking outside in the area i work in so walking at night here is not a suggestion ??? Help any suggestions on what I can do in the office?? emoticon

My goals are:
1. To find out how many carbs a woman should eat per meal. I have Type 2 and on medicine but my doctor does not believe in counting numbers, he just feels I should eat healthier carbs and portion control. I believe I should know how many carbs I should have. I understand on how to count carbs, I just need to find out how many I should have.
2, Work out 5 times a week to start 30 minutes each.
3. Track at least 5 days of my meals.

My goal is to get control of my eating and not give in to impulse purchases that are not good for me. I did buy a lot of veggies this week. Now I just have to prepare and eat them and not let them languish in the fridge to ultimately end up in the compost bins.
