I actually crawled out of bed today. Might try to work two hours.

Been sugar free since Friday and my back and joints are much happier. Finished off the crackers using moderation and am currently ignoring the noodles. I do have some Ezekiel bread in the fridge. Also been able to practice moderation with that. Of course not feeling like getting out of bed has helped reduce a lot of the issues.

I have not stood on the scale yet.......Well, I am down a couple pounds. Of course that doesn't offset the nine pound gain since starting tax season. But will keep working on it.

Both sugar and wheat causes me a lot of pain.

Low glycemic fruit is ok though for me.

Even though I have that cold that has been going around, being without refined sugars for three days has really helped reduce the joint and back pain that had been making it almost impossible to get out of bed. Wish I could remember that sugar increases pain every time I am tempted to try something. Now I need to cut the wheat back a little.

I decided to go Sugar Free for three days and of course at the funeral I attended was the most decadent chocolate cream cheese cake. I was out in public so able to turn it down. On an upbeat note, GD made chocolate cookies with stevia and doesn't like them. I do. Now to practice moderation.

Watched a hilariously funny documentary on you tube about going vegan for 30 days. Some really interesting thoughts. The nutritionists and doctors did not think going vegan for nutrition sake was such a great idea and warned that oreo cookies are vegan. Let me find the link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEZ3x9ouNZk I think I will watch his sugar free post next.

Wonder if he is going to try keto?

Tried to go keto but that triggered my old nemesis, binging.

Back to lower carb and eating well. Could never give up beans or the occasional piece of fruit!

I need the carbs in fruits too.

Our Yes/Yes food this week at TOPS is peaches. I got online, because I am not too thrilled with store canned peaches or even the South American ones that are picked green. Most internet said the peaches this time of year with best flavor and nutrition were the frozen peaches. So, I am either going to hunt for a gourmet canned peach in a glass jar or a bag of frozen peaches. We will see how it goes.

My fasts from sugar included just processed sugar. I have since discovered that honey, agave are no better for me than a good homemade jelly. Nice to have as dessert once in awhile, but they do kick off the cravings. So does rice and all breads. However, I do love the organic good seed bread.

I realized today that the type of carbs affect me differently.

I ate a no carb breakfast and started feeling really tired two hours later. Hence, I ate a small amount of fresh cantaloupe and blackberries, and my energy came back strong.

I did well with .75 cup of plain kefir a little latter.

For my second snack later in the day, I had half a gluten free bagel and a tablespoon or more of cream cheese. That rushed my system so fast, I started falling asleep. I've decided to decrease the bagel to 1/4 th, and eat it tomorrow with lox and cream cheese.

Processed sugar seems to cause a lot more pain for me. I love maple syrup, but it makes me sick (sugar crashes) and it is a natural sugar. I discovered agave wasn't working either. I seem to do better with honey when I want a sweetener. Fruit sugars just make me healthier. I don't have any problem with them.

I haven't cut out sugar, but I am doing better with the binge eating. Trying to eat just three meals a day and one snack. Sometimes I have to set the timer or go listen to my meditation.

This afternoon is being a struggle. I want to eat right now and it has only bee two hours. I think I will go make some hot tea.

I am doing okay with the lower carb again.

Today, I ate some little candies here and there and my body started aching something awful. I've read other people's posts that sugar makes their bodies ache.

I do okay with a little fruit each day. Easter Cadbury minis ....not so great. I only ate six. I've found the more pure my eating is, the more I am affected by the smallest amount of junk.

It could just be the aches from trying to get better from my last virus, but I suspect the sugar doesn't help.

Sometimes just acknowledging our feelings helps.

Fifteen times I went to get something to eat when I didn't need it yesterday. I managed to stop with much effort each time. I probably had one or two things I didn't need calorie wise, but I didn't binge. So feeling good about that.

This always helps when I remember to listen to these on a daily basis. Trick is to lay down and shut eyes and give yourself or myself permission to relax and heal.

Going back to lower carb again. It is so hard to make it a habit sometimes! I really fell of the wagon in January. It has been difficult but I am half way back to my version of healthy.

I am I'll and engaged in a pity party. So not worth it!

Actually all is timely. I managed to put back the trail mix at Trader Joe's, but got a small pkg. of chocolate covered caramels. I ate the whole thing. Okay, it is the equivalent of one candy bar. Then I probably ate three servings of organic snap peas. Not so good, then I stopped at Grocery outlet and bought skinny cow. Stopped at one of those. Not a good day, but.......I figure if I drink one of my veggie and protein shakes for dinner, I should be okay. Then I checked this post. If I drink the bottle of kombucha, I bought at Trader joe's then I should get my sugar back in balance. I understand grapefruit also helps, which I also bought. Hope so. I think I will be fine the rest of the evening.

Fruit juice, vinegar and sparkling wine. Strong vinegar flavor so a lot of people don't like it. I would have been one when much younger. It has a small alcohol content in it as it is a fermented product. Some kombucha's have to be sold as alcohol. Others have a low enough count to be sold in the nutrition section. I like the Synergy Trilogy from the nutrition centers. www.culturedfoodlife.com/the-trilogy

ombucha/what-is-kombucha/
It is expensive, but on sale it is cheaper than a mocha frappe and loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. Calorie count is low, it is hydrating and it is a treat.

I think I am on day 7 of no snacking after dinner. In fact I am trying to avoid snacking mid day too. I had two teaspoons of ice cream for GDs birthday. I opened a bottle of kombucha to sip on to help me avoid the sugar cravings this evening.

I am glad to read old threads. Maybe magnesium would help my sis and me. We are both dizzy dames...lol!

I limit my sugar a lot. I can trip a binge if I tell myself I can't have something. Therefore I've found it best for me to say I can have it but choose not to do so. My tastes have changed too. I wouldn't be able to eat cake now unless it was homemade by me. I like things only slightly sweet.

Shoot, i haven't been receiving e-mail alerts for this thread. I don't know what happened. Just figured you all were busy.

Yes, a sugar fast would be good, I was doing well ever since the hospital stay, and went to hypno therapy and she talked about Dave's Killer Bread and I have been craving it ever since. It is a good substitute for cakes, but not for my veggies, fruits and fish.

The vertigo stays manageable as long as I remember to take my magnesium. Wish I had discovered it years ago.

The sciatica that brought me to my knees is getting better everyday. I took two Benadryl and two Aleve and slept like a baby last night. Only started getting untolerable just before I got out of bed. Moving of course loosened it up again. I was beginning to worry it was my mattress. I did flip it. Maybe that did help.

Taking Buddy for a walk in the glorious sunshine in a moment.

Hope you are both doing well.

packing and getting on the road tomorrow night for my vacation. can't wait to get away, but i'm already dreading coming back. my boss has been preoccupied with her own crap that she has been consistently ignoring me for weeks now, only coming in after the fact and making me change everything. i'm over this job. i'm over these people. i'm over this town.

and obviously i really need this vacation.

hmmm....made a veggie stir fry for dinner, it was ok. remind me not to use frozen veggies, kinda ruined it and now i have like 10 more servings for the week. unfortunately, even though i promised myself i wouldn't get any snacks, on my way out of the store i grabbed yogurt covered pretzels. since i didn't like my stir fry that much, i ended up eating the whole box. why do i do these things? why don't i stop after a couple and put it away? although, i will say that i put back a brownie at lunch...my will power is stronger during the day. busy day ahead, i need to get going even though most of me just wants to stay home so i can breath easier!

did not manage to do another sugar fast, but perhaps now...it's all out of my house and i can resist the goofy candy dish at work. i've been eating healthy breakfasts and lunches, always dinner that throws me. it's clear from the lack of dirty dishes in my sink that i have been eating out too much. this week i'll make my dinners, until friday, which is my birthday and i'll be going out with friends.

i keep envisioning a summer of seclusion from people...from parties, from dating, from alcohol...just painting and exercising (to the best of my ability) and working on my future. my friend and i talked about saving money all summer and job hunting in san diego, moving sometime in the late fall to avoid another depressing winter. and i can't live through another pollen filled spring. my chest is so tight, i can't take a deep breath. i wake up in the morning having an asthma attack. it's pretty much constant. it's worse every year, i don't know if i'd survive if this gets any worse! i even had my steroid shot, who knows what i'd be like if i didn't!

thanks to my tax return i feel back on my feet. i've been painting successfully...now i just need to sell successfully! if i sell a couple big paintings this summer i'll be fine to move. i also want to spend time and gradually clean out my apartment of things i never use or look at, so when i do move, i won't have so much stuff. feeling the need to downsize and shake off weight of all kinds.

i leave for vacation in a week, it will be my last big hurrah and then i'm going alcohol free and seeing how i do with this whole hibernation seclusion thing. i might go crazy...i might be focused and get a lot done! i foresee a lot of meditating and yoga in my future....

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

i managed to go three days without chocolate or other sugars. i'm going to start another one today. i've got three days to paint to have some new things for my art reception on thursday. my allergies have had me absolutely miserable this last week. i can't go outside at all, and if i do i have to wear a mask. i went this morning and got my steroid shot so should be feeling better in the next couple of days. also, my friend is doing a juice fast and is swearing by it, said it got rid of her allergies. i'm drinking a juice from whole foods and pricing juicers online.

things didn't work out with the new girl, unfortunately. i could see things going farther, but she said that it was just too soon after her last break up. so back to singlehood for me. i need to stop this dating and relationship stuff while i'm trying to get my painting biz to take off, it's too distracting and when my emotions are all over the place i have a harder time painting. i just need to be stable and focus.

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

where'd everybody go?! i've successfully went two days without sugar, so i'm feeling better about that! still walking and going to yoga. this week i'm taking a quick trip up to boulder to take art and pick up sculptures from some of my artists. i'm excited to get on the road, i love the meditation of it. i think i'll take the long way home, off the highway.

hope things are going well for you!

i think i'm going to do a sugar fast starting today. i'm craving it too much...i need a good reason to avoid the candy dish at work and not buy my white chocolate bars from whole foods. so, no sugar for at least 3 days...or maybe 5?! yeah, i can do 5! no chocolate, cookies or candy.

my allergies are starting, it's gonna suck for the next month or two. i won't be able to take walks, i'll have to make myself go to the gym so i don't gain weight during allergy season like last year.

hope everyone's doing well and being healthy!

stitches are out! so i went to yoga and it was ok, couldn't do a few things but the rest was fine. also have been walking more and now that it's warmer i'm walking to work. now just need to get my diet on board and i'll be feeling healthier and maybe back to losing weight.

still sleeping badly. i've heard from several people that 3 is when the liver is trying to cleanse and that's why i'm waking up. looking into liver cleansing...doesn't sound very appetizing...but i wonder if it would help?!

just had another date with my new friend. :-) it's going slow, but it's going and it's really nice spending time with her. boy i hope i don't get my heart smooshed again! but i guess all you can do is brush yourself off and try again and again until something sticks.

Sometimes we just need a good nap.

I have a ton of lipomas- lumps all over and have had some removed, too.

Glad you have some new friends to hang with.
Take care

yay no dizziness! let's hope it stays that way. have you figured out any food or sleep reasons for the dizziness? and do we need a three day challenge to get you out of your biggest loser plateau?

the stitches are from a lipoma, fatty tumor, on my back. it's been growing over the years and was making me self conscious, plus i wanted to make sure it was benign (it was!). so i'll have a little scar, but at least i'll be able to get a massage and they'll be able to reach my tight spot now!

i've been incredibly tried lately. if i wasn't so busy i would take a couple days off and just sleep. i finally slept a full 8 hours straight through and i thought i would feel better, but i was so tired today that i took an hour and fifteen minute nap! of course now i'm awake and painting, so maybe i just need to make time for more naps?!

I want to ask why you have stitches? But know it is rude. So just leaving it out there. I am glad you have found a friend and possible companion.

I too love Indian food. Don't get it often. Was thinking it might be a reward for getting on track with Biggest Loser again. I have plateaued for three weeks.

This is the second day, I have woke, not dizzy. Hurray!

Got a lot done this morning too, but starting to fatigue, so taking a break.

my new friend made me some indian food last night, sooo good! makes me want to cook more...or get indian takeout?! no, need to cook!

still not sleeping well, but not as bad, hopefully this week will be better. need to pick up my journaling again and get some meditation in every day. i miss yoga, but i have stitches in my back and i'm afraid to yank them. they come out in a week, in the meantime i guess i'll just have to get over the cold and go out and walk.

buckling down today, cleaning house and painting!

DD got a better transfer and is happy. GD and I made Crepes tonight and watched Julia Child light hers on fire. We are making a menu for tomorrow night.

Still Dizzy, but I can get around and it straightens out pretty quickly now. Think I had a few swoons and one vertigo that lasted 15 minutes. I can't look up or turn quickly w/o setting it off. However feel great sitting still.

Start saving for Baja. HUGS.

i'm so glad my parents made me clean my room! i like a nice clean space and do it regularly...i've me so many people my age who don't and i hate going to their house or riding in their car!

how's the dizziness?

i just went to san diego, it's nice and sunny and blue sky and not near as smoggy as LA. i too want to drive up the coast on the pacific highway. i have a friend who lives in mexico somewhere around the baja and she keeps telling me to visit. if only i had a windfall of money i would take a long roadtrip!

had a movie date last night, held hands the whole time, it was super sweet. :-)

Still thinking about the pictorial blog of places I want to see. I guess, it might be easiest to pin them to a pinterest board.

Helped GD clean her room tonight. I have been nice all week, but tonight I made her cry and then she hustled and is sleeping in her own room again. The solution to keeping me out of her bedroom is to clean it when I ask and not a week later when I roll up my sleeves and start sweeping everything out the door. I can be a mean granny sometimes. On the other hand, she is excited about living in a clean space again. We also played a bunch of geography games on line together afterwards. She likes that because she is so much better than me.LOL

Hi Cathy:

Do you ever watch the travel channels? I did a couple of times a long time ago. We will have to do some arm-chair travel at least.

Wish we could actually travel. We would have so much fun together if we were healthy.

shoot, I would vacation with you at all those places. We would make a miserable couple. LOL.

I want to see San Diego and go into Baja. I have driven the coastline from Astoria Oregon to Eureka and the Redwoods.

LA sucks as the air is so dirty. I hope San Diego is not as bad. But I want to see the missions and sea world and the islands. I want to see the Colorado Delta and Loreto in Baja.

Wish we could attach pictures here. Maybe we should think about doing some arm chair traveling in a blog. Planning is half the fun.

Wish you were sleeping. I take a benadryl about 7pm at night if I haven't slept for a few nights. Usually clears up sinuses and makes me sleep. I can only take about one a week though to work as a sleep aide or I acclimate to it.

Sun is shining again this morning. I have been very dizzy for over a week now. My daughter changed the work hours at the shop early, so I would have more time in the morning to let the crystals settle in my head. Yesterday, I just wanted to stay in bed.

Hope once I get moving at the shop, I will feel better.

Read a really good book. "Wet Desert" by Gary Hansen. It was about a terrorist attacking a dam above the Hoover on the Colorado River. I learned so much about the river. He wrote this story when he discovered the River dried up before reaching the ocean and that thousands of acres of marshland delta were destroyed by the dams. The lovely thing happening though is that Mexico and all seven states are trying to reclaim the Delta. So now, I want to go visit the Colorado.

So, far, I want to go visit the Indian relics and museums of the south, (I will swing by and have tea with you too.) then my Sis in Texas and head up to Kansas and make the drive back following my Dad's route. Now, I want to drive into Mexico to see the delta recovery efforts too. If I add that little detour, I am going to be vacationing for months. LOL. I am feeling motivated to apply for my visa or passport or whatever it is you need to get into Mexico. Oh and also, I want to fly to Hawaii. I read a silly little story about Hawaii, but I could smell the air and feel the moist warm wind on my arms. I cried and was depressed for months last time I came back from Hawaii. I probably shouldn't go there again. I would have happily stayed and been a hobo.

couch is great, my date saturday night went great (even though i'm still scared stupid about the whole dating thing), and my eating has been pretty good. haven't exercised or walked much because i've been so busy at work. lots going on this weekend, too. i'm having another bout of insomnia, my eyes are red all the time, i look like i'm on drugs! i hope i sleep tonight...long day tomorrow. i've gotta drive to albuquerque to visit a friend in the hospital and see if her diagnosis is cancer. ugh, stupid cancer.

weather here is getting nicer...which means the pollen is starting and i'm getting asthma attacks already. don't know how much longer i'll be able to go outside.

What a lovely Valentine's for you. New love and new couch. What more could a person ask for. Leather is the way to go with kids and pets. Very easy to clean and care for and looks good too.

Hope the new neighbor is a great neighbor too. You got off to a good start. I have been having my third worse vertigo attack ever. The soreness in my jaw is gone this morning, so hoping I am on the mend. I could not have worked in the shop on Monday. Thank goodness it was closed that day. Tuesday was better, but yesterday I was swooning all over the place. Very annoying and nauseating. Today is better. I was able to get out of bed in about 20 minutes. I think I set this one off because of the rough weekend with DH. I was grinding my teeth in my sleep. I called the dentist and asked if that was possible and they said "yes". So I need to learn to quit grinding and clenching teeth. More meditation and maybe some hypno therapy. What I really want is acupuncture.

Weather is really good here for Feb. We have seen blue sky every day and are still getting rain, so we will stay green. The temps are in the low 50s, very balmy and pleasant. Everyone is out and about. I can't wait to get my garden started.

4 more pounds! woohoo! sounds like your making mostly good decisions at least and every once in awhile it's ok to splurge. i've had a good couple of days, being a bit broke actually makes me act better at home and make my own food and actually sit down and eat it. today i got a lot done and didn't have the energy to cook so i used a little money and got some curry tofu and brown rice at the thai place. not the best but not the worst. i feel very sated and satisfied at least and so ready for bed!

so, out of the blue i ran into an old friend at a party on saturday...and we had a date monday night and planned another one for saturday. holy terrifying. and exciting. and confusing. i was finally feeling good in my own skin, practicing more yoga, trying to do daily meditation, and working on my business plan. i'm still doing all those things...but my mind keeps wandering. so much anxiety! ugh. but i also feel a little lighter on my feet. and she's super healthy, makes me want to be that way, too.

also today i got a new couch and it's so comfy and leather so it doesn't collect cat hair. ironically, i had a new neighbor move in just after i put my old couch on my porch with a free sign. he needed a new couch and took it. meant to be! my cats love the couch, too.

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

Glad you are pacing yourself. I lost another four pounds with Biggest Loser. Ate a bunch of chocolate covered peanuts after weigh in and finished two bags of organic gluten free chips. Those calories weren't so awlful, but the chocolate nuts were. I made a cabbage soup and juiced and a stir fry with shrimp, so my actual meals have been very healthy and low calorie. Tomorrow, I am back on track in earnest for the rest of the week.

yoga has me feeling good lately, and i've been trying to meditate every day. my mind doesn't feel so ping-pongy and i slept fairly well last night. i took a long walk, too. i'm a little tired today, so i'll make it a take-it-easy day. i can pretty much feel my spleen all the time when i'm doing more yoga, i hope that's not too bad of a thing. on the plus side, my thighs are feeling muscley and my triceps are popping! i weighed in today (made thursdays my weigh in day) and i'm actually up a half a pound. i blame my lack of self control on superbowl sunday. must make up for that and hope to see a loss next week.

was late (again) this morning so i didn't get to meditate, haven't seen anyone at the gallery yet so maybe i'll put on a guided and try to do it here. man i suck at mornings! i just can't get up!

how's it going with the biggest loser challenge? are you winning?!

Hope you made it to work on time. I am sorry about the acquaintances.

I know that both Madcat and Nancy have struggled a lot with that kind of prejudice. You need a polite reply. "Thank you, I will consider it". If they push you. "I have chronic illness due to a microorganism and I have to pace my exercise in 15 minute segments." I am sure you will come up with something better, but having a plan of what to say is really helpful. I know it is not in your head. I felt fabulous today and after pushing for ten hours, I now have that same headache and the swollen lymph glands. What a pain.

Magnesium is really helping stop the vertigo. That is pretty exciting.

thanks for the links, i'll check them out! i'll have to look at meetup.com and see if there is anything there, too.

so yesterday i was watching the football game with some friends (acquaintences really) who were dancers and body builders. they kept trying to talk me into going to the gym with them or going biking or running until i finally told them that i couldn't because of migraines. they immediately rolled their eyes and told me it was psychosomatic. pretty much nothing i could say at that point could change their mind. luckily the game and the commercials got us off subject. i'm really kicking myself for saying anything, maybe i'll just tell people i'd just like to stay overweight and leave it at that. i'm going to try not to let it get me down, it's bad enough that i can't work out, it's worse that people think poorly of me.

i seem to be back to a point of having very few friends. all the ones i thought i had been making have found partners or just disappeared. i need to learn to be happy by myself at home and find peace in creating my art.

i let myself eat a bunch of crap yesterday and drank a few, i don't feel too bad right now but i'll probably feel it in yoga. i'm going to have a healthy week though. i went 3.5 days without chocolate/sugar last week so i'm going to go for at least 5 this week. and lots of greens and protein.

and i am late for work...bye!

TOPS was very affordable, but different groups have different personalities. So be choosy if you check them out in your area. www.tops.org/default.aspx Most of my experiences with them were good. I have also done OA which is a 12 step program. Again, be careful of the personality of the group. I got into a very toxic group once and since I had experienced a great one first time around, I was able to quit rather quickly. I am not sure what I would have done if that had been my first experience. www.santafenewmexican.com/local%20ne

Here is OA too www.oa.org/

So, I am thinking about a gym membership. I think I need to boost my efforts also.

ugh, reality check! just saw myself in the full length mirror at the hair salon in just a tshirt and jeans. i've been covering up with jackets and layers so i haven't really seen me lately...totally lumpy bumpy in all the wrong places. i must fix this! and since it can't be exercise, other than walking to work and yoga, it will be food. salads and plain chicken are my staple diet now. i wish i could join a group or something, i'd probably do well on weight watchers...i just don't want to pay for it. i know what my problem is, it's that i'm alone. i don't have any support other than online and i need someone here to answer to. and will power. i joined a mailing list on my yoga forum on how to improve your will power and i've let the emails get stacked up and haven't been reading them. time to catch up i guess. only two months until my palm springs trip, i need to feel better than this before i get there.

Thank you. Four pounds down. I need to redecorate my spark page to reflect my BL efforts. I am having a bit of a struggle with will power today, but still okay with the calories. Unfortunately, I am going to bed hungry. I ate too early. Needed to spread the meals out better. I juiced the mean green, but substituted grapes and blueberries for the apples and lemon. Yummy. Nice change of pace. Still used the kale, cucumbers and celery for the base.

Went to Merchant meeting this morning, then priced and steamed clothing all day and did networking for the Merchant group this evening. I am tired. It was a ten hour day. I used to work those all the time when I was teaching. Glad to know I don't have to do this. It was extremely interesting.

You deserve to be tired tonight as much work as you did today. I hope you sleep really well.

how'd the weigh-in go? great job with the sugar will power! when i don't drink alcohol, my sugar cravings go up...i'm going to work on fighting that next. cutting down on gluten again, too.

today was a very low energy day. despite a full night's sleep i was incredibly groggy and foggy all day. i did a shift at the animal shelter and cleaned the kitty houses. i loved being with all the cats, but got so sad to see them stuck in those tiny boxes. i signed up for feline and canine socialization training so i'll be able to spend quality time with the cats and walk the dogs, whatever i have the energy for. after that i came home and napped for awhile, i was exhausted. and against my better judgement i went to yoga because i really like this new class. it was good and i felt great after, i even walked there (it's about a mile). right now i am drooping and ready for bed. i guess i'll just have to give in to the exhaustion for now and try to get more work done tomorrow.

hope you did well with your weigh-in! either way, you're making a great effort!

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

I wish I could make this better for you. How long were you on the treadmill at one stretch? And how fast? Could you slow it down to a 15-20 minute walk twice a day? Try experimenting with the pacing again.

Love the plan idea. It always helps me to make lists, because I can't remember what I wanted to remember at the right time. The other thing I do is set the timer. Especially for writing or housework. 15 minutes work 15 minutes with the brain drifting or whatever I want to do, usually play on the computer.

PS: Tonight is second weigh in for Biggest Loser. I know I have lost and last night I had a tablespoon of sugar on cereal and that was the first time I had processed sugar all week. I feel pretty good about that. I have not done yesterdays calorie count, but have kept the calories under 1300 all week.

i'm working on action plans for my art and my career, so much to do that i'm a little frozen. i just need to jump in and get some things crossed off the list and get the momentum going. seems overwhelming...

tried to exercise more, ended up so incredibly exhausted, it took me four days to recover. so so frustrating. all i did was treadmill and two yoga classes over three days, the next day i couldn't keep my eyes open, i was so incredibly tired. i had even joined a gym for a month so i could use the treadmill and elliptical since it was so cold out, and now i think it will be a waste of money. this morning, for no reason, i feel exhausted, i could go right back to bed after a full night's sleep. i think today will be a light day, i'll work on the computer/writing things of my action plan. at least i'm back into the no drinking/no eating out phase and am cooking my own meals. that will help me feel better.

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

Yeah! Glad you are finding yourself again.

I took friend to doctor today and it turned into a lengthy visit and then my futon frame arrived when I got home and so I spent two hours assembling it and then the rest of the evening rearranging and cleaning so it would fit in the living room with the futon on it. Now I am indoors and off the ground tonight.

Hope I can get the monkey mailed tomorrow. I will have to take a lunch break or leave work early, but I will keep trying.

checking in. things are leveling out after all the holiday crazies. my friend is gone back home and i'm back to entertaining myself. i managed to get a crew together to go bowling last night and it was a lot of fun. just stinks that i have to drive all the way to albuquerque just to have fun with people. but my skills as an organizer are coming through and i keep getting ideas of things to do...and i need to stop and focus on painting! other than a shift at the animal shelter, i have nothing planned for my days off. it's going to be a forced painting extravaganza to get me back in production mode.

haven't gotten very far into my book and getting out of bed is sooo hard when it's this cold out! it's 1* at night....i actually had to put a hoodie and pants on because i was too cold to sleep! once it starts warming up it shouldn't be as hard to get up and i'll be more useful in the morning. right now, not so much.

all in all....i'm feeling better. the horrible depression for the last few months is lifting. my brain has changed, my thoughts are different. i'm not all better, my motivation is still waning, but it's happening, the real me is coming back!

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

Hoping to get the Monkey mailed Monday. Can't seem to coordinate getting to the Post Office when they are open.

The first weigh in is Tuesday and then, I will start for good on the challenge. It will be pretty exciting.

GDs party was today, so got to spend the afternoon in a screaming household with friends and relatives. It was almost a repeat of Christmas. LOL.

I moved back in the house it is 27* right now. To cold on the lungs. I have lots of cleaning to do tomorrow, but got the dishes done tonight so won't need to do that.

how's the challenge going? mine is going nowhere. my best friend left yesterday and the plan was to not drink or eat out for awhile...but i got so lonely today that i ended up eating out and visiting my friend/bartender at my bar. i wish i was better at being alone. :-(

in other news....i did my first shift as a volunteer at the animal shelter washing doggie dishes and doing laundry. next week i do paperwork and then i get to start training to do dog walking. i'm wearing a pedometer and upping my walking goals. i've been doing better and better, but the weather has been getting warmer. tomorrow the temp drops drastically, i don't know if i'll be able to get out again for a week or so. but saturday i'm taking friends bowling and i'm working on more yoga and finding someone to climb the rock wall with. i am being more active and trying to make new friends...even thought many of the friends i've tried to make recently have been certifiably crazy!

i just got a book, Peaceful Weight Loss Through Yoga, which may be the only way i can do it with my migraine and fatigue issues. so i guess my goal right now is doing yoga every morning, which will lead to better emotions, which will lead to better eating. i'll try anything at this point.

Yes, I need to stop eating non stop and kick that sugar out too. Went to see Les Miserable with the girls. GD was bored. It was three hours, but fabulous acting and singing. I even sobbed buckets at the end. So good to see this.

I too feel gross and am anxious to get started. I have managed to cut out the sugary desserts. Had to go to my yogurt honey and oatmeal concoction to stop the insane cravings. Hope to be done with them before the first weigh in on the 15th.

GD took her Bangie Cards out of the shop yesterday. They didn't sell very well and now she is embarrassed about them, because her art continues to grow. She was going to can them, but I made her give them to me to use to mail messages to her relatives.

She is now attempting to draw more realistic people. It is good practice, but I hope she continues with her cartooning too.

Your landscapes are very nice on your website. I was actually looking for an address to mail you your sock monkey. Can you spark mail an address to me? It was funny that you mentioned you liked them. Because I was almost done with one for you at the time. So this one will keep you company for Valentines and lots of love and blessings were poured on her to help her be a muse for you.

i just bought a poofy jacket! One of those goofy looking michelen man ones. I've been feeling like taking walks at night but it's just so cold, this jacket is super warm so I might feel like venturing out into the cold now. I also started wearing a pedometer and hit my goal today, time to start upping the goal each day and keep my butt moving. i just feel gross right now, i want to fast forward to a day when i'm feeling strong and healthy, the holidays were such a killer for me this year.
ready to start your biggest loser challenge?! i'm excited for the show, i miss jillian! her podcasts are fun to listen to if you ever need a boost.
worked on a drawing yesterday, going to try to start a painting today. my nights are looking much freer now that holiday crazies are done. just some yoga to do and i'm going to make my friend go ice skating with me on friday.
happy new year!

It is wonderful, that you felt the spirit for Christmas. I also had a wonderful Christmas with DS and DIL and GKs and other friends, relatives and neighbors of theirs. It was very relaxed.

We have about an inch of snow at the moment. It did not warm up like predicted, so not sure what tomorrow morning will look like. The cold and rain keep me indoors most of the year.

Babysat the GKs today. Had fun doing that.

wooo, i have NOT been eating well! and it's been so cold i don't even want to go outside to take walks or walk to work. definitely can feel the weight i've gained. gotta make a game plan for this week to start eating better. i'll probably have to join a gym at least for a month or two so i can get some treadmill time in.

2013 is going to be all about painting...selling, marketing, painting my butt off. i need to make plans, break it down into steps and start following them for all things...health, career, finance. i can't sit here and wallow anymore.

i'll have to read the profile for celiac...i never thought that it was an issue for me, but who knows. i'll have to add that to my health plan to go gluten free again. either way i'll feel better!

how was your christmas? mine was pretty good actually, at least christmas day was. i was still kind of working because i was playing host to our clients at the gallery, but i did get to drink and have fun. got lots of yoga classes and gift cards. can't wait for the new year to start, i feel like it's a fresh start after a rough year.

I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine. sarashawger.com

Sara,
My DD still thinks I have celiac. I don't fit the profile very well. Although I think it is like nearsightedness. Everyone has varying degrees and old age seems to have brought on some more symptoms. The reason, I am saying this is because I reread the book DD gave me about celiac and you kept popping up. I wonder if your CFS micro-organism is contributing to your tummy pain. Could you also be gluten sensitive in addition to wheat sensitive. Please look up celiac disease on line and see if you don't fit the profile to a certain extent.

According to this article the alkaline water can aggravate an ulcer and interfere with the thyroid. I tried it and don't like it. It did not make me feel better.

Switch to distilled water and go sugar free for three days to see if you feel better. If not, then talk to your doctor. You may have something going on, that needs more attention.

Braggs organic vinegar is the best, but if you have over alkalized your system, you don't want to be adding more foods that produce alkaline. If you find the distilled water and a good diet helps another vinegar drink that is yummy is Synergy's Kombucha. It tastes like champagne and does have trace amounts of alcohol......LOL

Not writing till January. I will start editing then. However, I have had ideas percolating in the brain, but don't want to look at the project till I have some distance, so I can more easily spot errors.

Santa Fe has had competitions. I would check your Chamber of Commerce to see who hosts them.

i wonder if the alkaline water is irritating my tummy? although anything i read said it's supposed to fix that and not cause ulcers. is that what an ulcer feels like? i thought it was a burning sensation, i get an upset tummy and have to run for the bathroom! ugh, always something wrong!

i keep wanting to try a juicing diet...except i just want to gag every time i take a sip. maybe if i just use it as one of my smaller meals. it definitely helps to cook the veggies, but this last week everything has bothered me. but i will try the vinegar, is apple cider ok?

i wonder if i can find a biggest loser competition here? it would be nice to have some people to meet with and answer to.

how's the writing going?
