Began week 5, tomorrow is day 2. This has given me the confidence and joy in running again. Taking it slow and steady has been great...no shin splints, no frustration with my time, just enjoying it again!

I've begun week 5 and hope that race day will be Friday. It's been a crazy month and getting my days in has been a push.

Good luck CINDILP! Let us know how you do on Tuesday. I am just starting Week 5 and am having trouble making myself actually do it. Week 4 was OK so I don't know why it's so hard. I have been moving slowly enough that my knees don't hurt which is what I expected to happen. I know once I'm started I'll be ok.

Race day is Tuesday! I haven't gotten back out to run for a few days. Hopefully I'll get a run or two in this weekend.

Count down Race day minus 2....yesterday I had a "terrible" walk/job, struggling to breathe and just didn't feel right and still came in at 43.25. My goal for Saturday is under 47 minutes (that's when they close the course). Even with the hill, I think I'll make it.

I've been taking this slowly. I started in August and today, I did the 2 minute walk, 3 minute jog. My race is on October 23, so I'm going to stay with it until then. Feeling good. I've come a long ways.

Wow, what benefits.

I know I'm not where I should be in regard to weight or fitness, but I have seen such an improvement with this challenge. My heart rate climbs to the 160s, but I recover so much faster. I am so much stronger and in much better shape. I feel the difference.

My race is October 20 with the Virtual one the week after that. Where do I go from there? I don't know, but I'm sure of one thing, it will be in a forward motion.

Thanks SP

WOO HOO!!! I did it!!! I finished with a 43:23 time, better than I had expected. I am moving on to the rookie 5k program on spark people. My personal goal will be to finish that one under 40 minutes.

Thanks to spark people for offering this free training program. It has boosted my self esteem and sparked my athletic spirit.

Did W5D2 today. It kinda kicked my but. I did it though and after several arguments with myself throughout the workout trying to convince myself to stop jogging and walk, I won the fight and completed without quitting jogging in the wrong spots. Today was the first day my legs felt the work leaving me to wonder what the last day will be like as I will need to go for an extra 10 min at least to complete.

Completed week 5 day 1 today. It was good, challenging but not impossible. Next one will be the test I think see if the 2 min instead of three walk rest will be enough. Judging from today I think it will.
