Good for you! Isn't it amazing how far you actually walk when you get out and move? Go for it and I hope you get up early enough to avoid people and heat. That is my favorite time to walk. Just the birds, dog and me.

Yesterday I completed Week 4, and I'm excited about entering the last Week!

I truly appreciate SP's "Map Your Route" software. The past month, I've had the best time making routes of all the roads in my community, all combinations, so I know how far Winston, Churchill (Cavalier King Charles spaniels... my two constant shadows) and I walk each morning. Since I began tracking my mileage 4 weeks ago, we've walked over 80 miles! Seeing that figure, I was absolutely astounded.

I've had fun being very creative, designing as close a route to 3.1 miles as I could: it'll take us across a 4-lane boulevard and into an adjoining community. It'll expand our walking horizon! I've dug out an old canteen we'd bought 15 years ago when we hiked down the Grand Canyon (and never used since) so I can bring water along: this walk will be a long one, and with Florida's heat, I don't want my 4-legged companions to suffer!

I plan to start out early--optimistically at dawn's break--so we can finish and beat the heat. We won't break any speed records, for Winston and Churchill have little legs! and there will be all sorts of new smells to sniff out along our route.

Can hardly wait for next Friday, our 5K day!
