emoticon to everyone. I finished appx. 3 weeks ago. I enrolled in the walk/jog training program--not ready for it. So I'm backing up- I'll work on speed. I did the 5k in 50mins. But I haven't been exercising or walking for the past week so I probably lost all of my speed. And I will have to take baby steps to get back into the walk/jog program.

Goal 1# wkly
1. Track all of my food to stay under 1800 calories

5. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily
6. Develop a plan for eating out at restaurants.

Debating whether or not I want to do the walk/run program.

I finished the 5K yesterday, second one in 2 weeks. Is it unhealthy to aim for one a week?
I shaved some time off; went from 18/min mile to 17/min mile. Yay!

Yeah !! I finished too !! Was waiting for a nice day and finally got one on Friday.
It took me about 90 minutes (that's including stopping on the trail to talk to an old co-worker I met and stopping to pet some of the dogs along the way) :) But that's okay - I did the hills and went over the bridge near my home.

Congrats to everyone

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

5K completed in 69 mins (my goal was 70 and my average time would have been 72 mins) so I've very pleased. It wasn't too rainy or windy either (as weatherman predicted it would be)! I have two more 5K's coming up ~ one on April 30th and the next on May 15th with two more planned for Sept & Oct (hope to walk/run this one). Thanks SP!!

I did mine on Friday walking around New York City. I was sure I had done more than 5K. What a surprise when I tracked my walking and I had done just over 8 miles. LOL

emoticon I did it. Our weather here was cold and rainy so my friend and I went to the mall. We did the walk in 56 minutes and 51 seconds. I am happy with that time. I had hoped to have a better time. But as we had to doge people I think we did pretty good. I am doing another 5k in June at a nature park. So I hope to have a better time then but we will see.

emoticon I completed my 5k today. It was the official Walk for MS. I completed it in 90 minutes. I thought that was pretty good considering that there were a lot of people walking and you really couldn't walk as fast as you may have wanted to walk. Plus, this was an urban walk and we had to stop for traffic in various places. I'm just glad I got it done!

Everyday is a new start!

emoticon I did it. Finished the 5K today. My time was 58 mins..not as low as others but considering I did it with a foot I had broke last year that's aching like it didn't set right, I think that's a great time. I fast walked the bulk of it.

I plan on doing this again. Hopefully I can improve my times. Good luck to anyone else walking it this week. emoticon

Fantastic! It must feel wonderful to have completed what you set out to do. Good time!
I plan to rest a few days and begin another on Monday. I am already planning my schedule to prevent some of the blocks in the first. It is better weather, so I will do more of it outside I hope.
Looking forward to it.
It does provide a great since of motivation.

Finished the entire virtual 5K Walking Program! A big thank you for the opportunity. It started out much too easy (I thought), but gave me plenty of challenge before I reached the end. It was a good way to celebrate my seventy-second birthday, and shoe-horned me right into a real 5K --- the MS Walk, which I'll do this Saturday. This will my first time ever to participate in a fund-raising walk. I have flares of auto-immune illness from time to time which make it very difficult to walk or even move, so I related to the multiple sclerosis theme indeed! I'm feeling real achievement here!

Today I spent 14 hours working the local election. I did not sleep well the night before. Therefore, I have had a "rest" day. I am absolutely exhausted. I doubt if I will remain awake much longer and will track my simple reoutine for the day. Tomorrow, I am hoping to be able to complete or at least get in a good session before the actueal completion.

Sunny,
Thanks.
I have been tacking my steps for about a year with a pedometer. Just found SP in Feb. I figured that I would start out with a 5K. I might try the 10K program. Also I'm trying to start running.
You had a great time too. Great Job. I couldn't let my keep walking and get more miles then me. LOL.
How long have you been walking?

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

Today, was a day which I did some cross/training. More like a rest day. Tomorrow, I will be working the election the entire day so I am not counting on finishing. Hope to get that final walk in soon. emoticon
