Hi Appyspot,
I am not an expert, but I have learned to listen to my body. When I start my walk, I have a little ache in my knee then it goes away. Because of arthritis , I do not walk very fast, Yesterday I found my speed increased to 1.7 from 1.5. My motto is slow and steady wins the race.
I want to walk the 5K, but I am not sure I will be able to complete the 3,1 Mi. If I don't,I will
be able to do 2.25 Mi which I completed today.
I think you should make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with your knee, then take your time to allow the knee to get use to the new experience. You will still loose weight.
I went from 167 -145 and my speed is only 1.5.
Good luck I know you will find the direction that is best for you. Just keep
