While out walking this morning....dawn rose over "MarbleHead"...got to thinking about (back in the day) when Walking, Running or or Marching MILES in FULL Military gear was nothing. Ok... so I'm older now but my determination has not wavered. Being small in stature I had to even double step then...So I CAN do it now. Yep, I might be a bit slower But I am Tenacious !!! Have a Great Day All, AND Please take moment to step back and Remember those Who Have and Still fight to keep us Free......A Country divided will not stand.....

week 3 day two. WOW I really had to pray and push my way thur. My younger son was and is sick and I have been up for 2 days with him coughing with a stuffy nose. Poor sweetie. Dr called him some antibotics and cough syrup are in order. Seems he is improving. I am glad I pushed back and got my two miles in spite of the enemy trying to stop me. So not happening!!!!!! emoticon

Week 3 is well under way for me and going well... I tend to do more on the crossramp than the treadmill to burn more calories and get higher mileage - it's working for me... More on Saturday with a power walk around the lake (old quarry pit with natural springs, not really a lake!) - I think I might go once around then some just to make it to 2 miles...

Have fun everyone!

I am doing well with staying on track but now that the community pool is closed I will not be able to use this as my crosstraining exercise. Any ideas for other types of crosstraining? I do not belong to a gym nor do I have any exercise equipment at home. Thanks!

I realized that I'll be leaving next week while working on this! I'll be without internet access until Oct 1st! I won't be able to track my progress until I get back after Oct 1st. I hope this doesn't cause any problems for the team.
While I'm gone I'll be keeping a journal of everything so I can update my SP when I get home. I'm going to write down the week 4 & 5 goals so I have them with me. I'm going to try and get as much of these weeks done before I leave - weather cooperating. Last night I did 2 1/2 miles - yay! I know I'll have this done by the end of week 5 only it just won't be charted.

Week 3 Day 2 complete.

Somehow I got a little behind in my walking schedule but, plan to make it up this week. My 5K is not until 9/24/11 so it will be fine. I have two other exercises I do during the week as well.

I am walking 2 miles in 42 minutes. It is a challenge for me. Hope I can make it to 3 miles. Tomorrow I will push myself to walk 2.5 miles.

I need to wear my glasses more. I did Day 3, Week 3 today. Instead of doing 2.25 as scheduled, I misread it and planned a 2.75 mile walk. Then I miscounted my laps and ended up doing a 2.95 walk. I am really tired but the upside is that I KNOW I will make the 5K!

I am now on my 2nd week with Wk3. I was sick LAST week. No excuse THIS week...just still feeling alittle under the weather. While I was recording my exercises for today on the SP Fitness log I realized that I may be un-intentionally avoiding completing Week 3. I came to this realization after recalling my thoughts when I went for my walk today....I had a choice to start jogging or continue walking...I chose to walk. I chose to do the easy thing. I chose to say to myself I'm still sick.
Well the truth is...if I'm too sick...why am I out here walking over 3 miles???!!!?? I had the power to "work the program"..but I chickened out. You see the last time I tried (Aug 12th) I failed (by my standards) and ever since then I've been affraid that I am not good enough. So that's where I am now...NOT GOOD ENOUGH...kind of thinking. Pretty low self esteem...but still moving everyday. Since I know that my old thinking pattern of negative self-sabataging behaviour is trying to work it's way back into my life...I will strive to focus on catching these thoughts and replacing them with positive motivators. Thanks SP members for listening. (it's amazing, JUST REALIZING, how powerful MY negative feelings can be.) It's exhausting.

FOCUS...FOCUS...FOCUS!!!!!

I'm a little worried. I am really committed to the C25K but yesterday and today my feet are killing me. The rheumatoid is a real problem with my hands and feet. I was going to do my 35 minute today but they hurt too much. I have really good walking shoes, so I'm not sure what else to do. Could I be walking too fast? I know that a 14-15 minute mile is really not fast for most people. Ideas?

I hope to get in the rest. I just found out today that I have send my computer back to HP for service. My keyboard is messed up and my processor is going insane. There is no virus but they can't tell me what's wrong. I hope to be able to finish blogging the rest of the challenge before I get the box to ship it back.

Hi Appyspot,
I am not an expert, but I have learned to listen to my body. When I start my walk, I have a little ache in my knee then it goes away. Because of arthritis , I do not walk very fast, Yesterday I found my speed increased to 1.7 from 1.5. My motto is slow and steady wins the race.
I want to walk the 5K, but I am not sure I will be able to complete the 3,1 Mi. If I don't,I will
be able to do 2.25 Mi which I completed today.
I think you should make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with your knee, then take your time to allow the knee to get use to the new experience. You will still loose weight.
I went from 167 -145 and my speed is only 1.5.
Good luck I know you will find the direction that is best for you. Just keep emoticon

Hi!
anybody in week 3? I have just finished my day 2, and I am tired and sweating!
I think it's the first time I am doing exercise for 4 weeks in a row, thanks to this program I am motivated to do it even if it's almost raining like today.
Ok, time for a shower!
Thanks!

I am starting week 3 today. I am finding the walking pretty good. I can now do a mile in 22 minutes. That is a lot better than my first 29 minute mile. The other day, I noticed my front of my foot is hurting. I took of my sock, and there is a big bump on the top, like where the laces go? Have no idea what it is...looks like a blister, but is a lot bigger. Was going to go to the clinic this morning, but there were at least 10 people in line. Crazy. Will try and go later....hopefully it isn't anything serious, because, I am not going to stop!

I managed 2 miles on the treadmill in 41 minutes! emoticon I was walking a 30 minute mile. Last month I walked a 24 minute mile but was out of steam. Today I tried on the treadmill because although I walked last week it was mainly on the beach or sightseeing. The real test will be if I can repeat on Wednesday.

Never Again!

The last time I walked the 1,5 mi. it took less time. I see now that I measured it incorrectly.
Today it took 76 min. I really felt good after the walk. Maybe things will be easier from now on. Many of my aches seem to become less the longer I walk. Next week I will strive to do the 1.75

OUCH my last walk, about minute 33, my ankle started to hurt. So I took two days off, elevated and iced it. Today, my ankle was STARTING to feel a bit better. So I went to walk the treadmill..........I couldn't help myself.I ran(my slow jog) two one minute intervals. Yeah NOT the best decision. so NOW I am sitting with my ankle elevated and an ice pack I think am going to have to avoid the gym completely for a couple of days.

I am having difficulty. We have had allot of rain, which prevents me from walking outside. Because of my arthritis, I must keep walking every day or I have difficulty. Tomorrow I plan to walk the 1.75 miles. Hopefully, I will be able to complete it. This means that I am still on week 2. emoticon

I made it through week three. Friday I went to a local park and walked 2.6 miles of trails - 3rd training day. It was the first time in over a year I had walked there & I enjoyed the spring wildflowers.

I'm counting what I walked as what I was supposed to do 2.25 even though my pedometer must have reset itself after I started because It was way off. I think maybe my belly must somehow squish it and it resets to 0.

I'm doing well with this training and actually surprising myself. I can't wait to do the 5K and see how it goes!

I was wondering does SP offer a training plan for a 10K at all? I am going to do one the weekend of June 11th and was hoping there was a plan to extend the 5K training.

Thanks for the help and support!
