I began the 5K Your Way Walk/Jog yesterday...took a nasty fall while jogging. Finished the 3 mile course (walking the rest of the way) before I went home and cleaned up my bloody roadrash forearm and elbow (a little on each knee too), then took some Ibuprofen. Afterwards I promptly left that team and joined the 5K Your Way Walking Program! So I did more than required for the first day...think I actually finished the distance in one walk for the program...but am remaining right here...gotta heal from the fall and scoot on the pavement. I'm happy to be here and may from time to time do more than required in the program, but no more jogging for me...here I will stay. emoticon

Blessings, Bev

Walked for 35 mins today for week 1, day 2. We are really slow and only covered 1.1 miles.
Ended up with a blister on my heel. Wrong shoes I guess.
Day 3 will take at least 45 minutes. I hope I get faster as this program goes on!

I'm back to do W1D3 today with the hopes that after running around working all day, I won't be to tired. But then again, that's just a lame excuse since it always feels better to move it a little.

I'm trying to stay with in the parameters as well.

Today is a rest day....even though I really want to walk, I'll do a little easy inside cardio and a couple ST moves.

I know that every time I've tried to get going on walking, I start out really strong with long 2-3-4 mile walks and burn out in two weeks. So this time I'm going to do my best to play by the rules, start slow and build from there.

Have fun! and I look forward to hearing how you are all doing!

Aloha!

Today is Sunday and my day of rest. I walked a mile everyday last week and swam for 60 minutes everyday during the work week and push mowed for 60 minutes yesterday to make up for the not getting to swim. Today I will rest my body, mind and spirit. I will begin the SP Official 5K Walking Program tomorrow. I have printed it out and posted it on the wall by the front door and on the refrigerator.

I am so excited to be doing this 5K for myself and as an example for my family who are ALL over weight except my husband who is 5'9" and only weighs 125 lbs. He has many health issues though and is unable to keep weight on his frame.

Finished Day 3 today....1.5 miles. It was fairly hot and muggy, and I had 1,000 reasons why I shouldn't be bothered, but I didn't give in and went anyway. I still can't say I enjoy it....although it seems so l-o-n-g when I'm by myself and goes so much quicker when I'm with someone. There's a clue!!! :)

It feels good to accomplish it, even if I am not having fun doing it YET. I had a couple moments where I thought "I'm not doing this anymore!! Forget this plan!!" :) Then I thought, "Nope, I am going to stick out the full 30 days. If I still want to quit, I will!!" I am hoping I won't....I am hoping that by then it will become part of my routine and that I will experience more strength and less discomfort as the days progress. I didn't do anything on the off days this week, but next week I want to do some yoga. I'm thinking that if I get some stretching and stuff into my routine, it might help with the soreness.

Yesterday, we had this amazing downpour. We needed it because the humidity was becoming unbearable, so I walked our Mall. It has 4 stories and I have determined that to walk the path I chose around our mall took me 30 minutes. I didn't measure the distance but I did notice that when you walk on odd hours there are a lot of people who use the mall as an alternative. People of all ages. I may find myself a group to walk with!

Wow... 9 children! I would say you deserve to take time for yourself.

I am pretty sore since I am also mixing in strength training. I am a bit concerned about day 3, but I already told my husband to kick me out the door if it looks like I am backing out.

Congrats on finishing day 2!

Finished Day 2 yesterday. The absolute last thing I felt like doing was going out for a walk. I had a long day, came home and ate supper, then just wanted to put my pjs on and relax. It took a few minutes to convince myself to get my butt out the door, and since misery loves company, I took my husband with me!! :) We both walked the mile and I was so glad I had when we were done. I can't say I "enjoy" it yet, but I sure do feel good knowing that I am doing what I need to do and not just what I "feel" like doing. It was nice for my husband and I too. As the parents of nine children, we can't afford to pay to do a lot just the two of us, and I really think that this would be a good thing to do together. I am going to get him a set of walking poles for Father's Day. :)
