Hi to all,

I'm a mainlander but also an island person. I live on a small island on the South Shore just 25 minutes from Halifax. We are so lucky to live in a province where it is never very difficult to get to the city, or go for a scenic coastal drive.

Beautiful places to walk, and hey what about that new Canada Games Centre, gotta love that. I am always so happy to see the children swimming and getting in shape, especially the very young ones, a great way to start. And in the weight room, the teens from the nearby high school, coming in for their workouts in the gym as well, and participating in classes on their days off. It is so very important for the next generation to become involved in fitness and health.

Have a wonderful day/week fellow Bluenosers.

Karen

I hope that the weather will let them get out to haul their gear.I also hope they get a real good price for the lobsters.I am a lobster fisher but we only have one season and that is in the spring. It is not an easy job especially this time of year.I hope they stay warm and dry. Best of luck to all the fishers out there now.

Ahhh, the joys of being a home owner! emoticon

My mother and her family are from Shelburne Co., when I was young, we visited there so much it felt like my 2nd home.

Pass on the best wishes to your DH for Lobster season...hope they have a great catch and the weather co-operates! Fisherman run through my family, so I understand and appreciate their hard work & dedication!

I am from West Pubnico Yarmouth County. Judy came to visit me this past summer. It was great.

I am not sure what has happened in my community because I just arrived home from Halifax. :-) I sell seafood at the Brewery Market.

My dh Mark is working hard getting every thing ready for the lobster season that is 5 weeks away from starting.

Today our sewer backed up. Mark and a plumber worked all afternoon fixing it. Lucky for us nothing has to be dug up and all is working fine now.

Sounds like you never really left NS...we're still in your heart as "home".

I think our community (everywhere)needs to step it up a notch if it's a group of teens that are vandalizing--that slap on the wrist just doesn't deter them from the boredom and crimes they're committing. They have taken away so much from us...but we will rebuild!

Keep an eye out in your town and glad you're able to come home every year!

Although I now live 'away', I still like to hear news from 'home'. We have Bellvu (or whatever it is called). Part of the package is CTV from Halifax. I watch 'Alive at 5' and the news that follows. (In fact I am more faithful about watching NS news than I am with ON news.) I remember hearing about that fire last year. We have had several fires here in our little community too. The bowling alley burned down a few Springs ago. (I happened to be in NS when it happened.)

Community auctions are usually fun. I went to one at the fire hall one time when I was home. (I am fortunate to be able to go home every year.) It's too bad I wasn't closer, I have things I could donate.

Hi everyone,

I am in Beaver Bank, a beautiful & friendly community just north of Lr. Sackville. Last Fall we had a tragedy strike and lost our newly built community centre/fire station due to a fire. Over the past year, we've been working hard to rebuild and collect funds.

Sadly this past week we had another tragedy strike...we lost our other community centre. This was the brown hall which has been a landmark in this community for many years. Authorities believe this may have been caused by arson.

No matter the cause, Beaver Bank is a strong family oriented community and we will rebuild and come together once again!

We are having an Auction Nov 6th at Angles Family Eatery and Pub on Sackville Drive to help rebuild!! Doors open at 6pm for viewing ! For more info contact (902)865-5114! Great opportunity to start your Christmas shopping!!
