Jesus said, Love one another as I have loved you.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned (Psa 34:1819, 22).

Due to my knee injury, I have to cut back on my walking but will post what I do.

09/15: 3404
09/16: 7693
09/17: 11124
09/18: 9221 (my knee started hurting again during the night -- exerted myself too much over the last couple of days)
09/19: 5186
09/20: 5865
09/21: 4495

I still have to take it easy. The more I put pressure on my knee, the slower the healing will take place -- so... take it easy.

I think I have achieved the "sweet spot" with regards to my daily goal. 20,000 steps per day or a weekly goal of 140,000 appears to be the numbers I need to achieve. Coming to this conclusion has been a part of my lifestyle change journey that I embarked back in 2009 so I continue to re-adjust my goals as necessary. My goal is to continue keeping my Active Minutes above 120 minutes per day. I will also be tracking my mileage with my goal to walk 10 miles per day. I will also be tracking my floors climbed but as I don't really encounter many floors in my travels I will be interested in seeing how high I can get this number on a daily basis. Keep moving people, I know I will! DON'T GIVE UP!!!

IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THAT MEMBERS WHO JOIN THIS THREAD USE THE EDIT FEATURE ON THEIR INITIAL ENTRY.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
DOING SO WILL KEEP THIS THREAD MANAGEABLE AND ALSO MAKE IT EASIER TO TRACK EACH MEMBER'S DAILY PROGRESS.

An easy way to find your initial entry is to hold down the CTRL key and your F key. This will bring up your FIND box. Enter your SparkName and hit enter. This will take you to your first entry. Click on the EDIT MY POST button and add your steps for that day. Then just click on the POST MESSAGE button and you have edited your entry! (For those using an Apple computer, hold down the COMMAND key and your F key for the FIND box.) If you have any questions/comments please send me a SparkMail.

A BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN USING THE EDIT BUTTON WHEN YOU POST!!!

I continue to be very impressed by your daily steps! emoticon

I love all the activity on this thread! Welcome to each and every one of you and I hope that you accomplished your goals this week. I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE A BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO JOINED THIS THREAD THIS PAST WEEK! We were an amazing 38 strong this past week! That is 3 less than last week!. I continue to be amazed at your step counts, all of you should be very proud of yourselves! emoticon emoticon emoticon

We are still #1 in the Computer & Electronics category?! That continues to be amazing! As of the posting of this post, we are now at (drum roll please!) 134,803 members strong! Incredibly again, that is 209 more than last week! Compared to last week's membership increase, that is 217 less members. (Curiously, our membership has spiked these last five weeks. FitBit is taking advanced orders for its Versa 2 which will have Amazon's Alexa integrated into it. Could this be the reason for our recent membership spike?) We are knocking on the door for the 135,000 level, which is simply amazing! Wow! This continues to be mind-blowing!
emoticon Holy moley!

I was recently playing with the FitBit App for Windows and clicked on the floors portion of the app. There I found a link that offering more information on how this data was calculated. The page is called "How does my FitBit device calculate my daily activity?" and it is a wealth of new information regarding how the various data items are calculated and collected. I was familiar with some of the information but the description of how it is used to calculate your personal data was fascinating. This is a recommended quick read. (And, careful, don't fall down any "rabbit holes" while there!) Here is the link for the page:

emoticon Welcome to all of our new team members and thank you for joining our weekly steps goal!!!

I continue to love my Ionic watch. Continuing with my watch's recent battery issue, I was ready to start the week long test that their customer service asked me to do. But to my amazement, the watch reversed its trend of late and, instead, held the charge for the day. I was suppose to let the battery completely drain but since it was at the same level (approximately 80% charge) as in the past I decided to forego the test. To this date the watch's performance has returned to pre-battery issue. (BTW, I did shut down a lot of the notifications that my watch was receiving. I don't find those notifications to be helpful, instead they can be rather intrusive.
This past week my Ionic watch's step count was a 1,981 more steps than my One or a 1.3% difference!

It appears that even for the top of the line watch, Ionic, activities involving the hands continue to contribute to the step count. (I wonder if Apple Watch users experience the same issue?) I continue to compare the data and the steps, distance, active time, floors, and distance are relatively the same. The calories are very different and I think that is more due to the heart rate device on my Ionic miscalculating my calories burned. I tend to trust my One's calorie calculations much more (although I am starting to think that the Ionic's calorie reading might not be as out of line as previously thought. I need to do more investigation into this emerging idea). emoticon

FitBit has introduced several new fitness trackers to their product line. The Versa -Lite Edition, which appears to be a low-priced version of their Versa. The only difference I can see is that the Lite Version does not calculate floors, allow storage of your music, or have the ability to pay for purchases. It truly is a lite version. FitBit also introduced their Inspire and Inspire HR activity bands. These are low cost version of their products. You can even ditch the wrist band and wear the activity device like their classic One model. It appears that FitBit is trying to bring activity trackers to the masses.

I still continue to lose more weight. I attribute my recent weight loss to a change I made in my eating habits. I love to eat and I never seem to get full. I have to make a very conscious effort to monitor my calories on a daily basis. I begin my day with a light breakfast, some milk and some type of egg sandwich. At work, I don't eat during my breaks, instead choosing to use this time for walks inside our building. I listen to podcasts or music and use my phone to catch up on emails, read, and play games. I find this is very helpful in achieving my daily step goals since I stopped attending the gym (Due to a recent lifestyle change). I drink 6-9 cups of water during the day and eat my "lunch" in the evening. I will have a small dinner later in the evening. I have been also trying to get to bed earlier so this change has definitely helped, too. All of this has resulted in a noticeable drop in my daily calories and my relationship with food. I have literally cut close to 1,000 calories on a daily basis (and sometimes have to push myself to hit 2,000 calories! This is a good change and one not certainly for everybody (or anybody in fact) but it appears to be working for me.
UPDATE: I continue with following this radical plan and it continues to work for me as I am losing more weight. I have dropped 34 pounds in the last eight months! Also, I have done some further research into this new lifestyle of mine and think my method can be classified as fasting. Now I am not starving myself, I am merely choosing to stay away from food for a certain period of time. I am still getting all of my necessary nutrition on a daily basis. I am really loving this lifestyle.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE
I am truly amazed at how this change in eating habits has positively affected me. I have plenty of energy, find myself sometimes "forcing" myself to eat, and getting much more sleep. While my initial foray into the healthy living world back in 2009 was life-changing, this intermittent fasting lifestyle has been life and mind-altering.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE TO THE UPDATE
I continue down this path of delaying my lunch and dinner to the end of my day and I continue to enjoy success. The recent holidays did proved to be challenging but following this path has allowed me to get back on schedule with my healthier lifestyle. I am truly pleased with these results.

ADDENDUM: I continue down this "fasting" path and have maintained my recent weight loss. I am amazed at how this one change has impacted my life.

Our organization is starting its annual "Let's Get Healthy" drive and part of this drive is a push to lose weight. Losing weight can sometimes be very simple while the hard part is keeping the lost weight off. Often times, in our quest to lose weight, we attempt to follow a current fad or try to remove something from our diet. Having been a SparkPeople member for close to 10 years I understand that this is not the solution. The solution to losing weight and keeping it off is moderation and activity. Duh, right but these really are the keys to losing and maintaining weight. With this in mind here are some articles that address these issues.
But whatever you do, don't give up hope if you "fall off the wagon." Tomorrow is another day to re-start your journey and pick-up where you left off.
AND REMEMBER, KEEP MOVING! emoticon

Here are some articles that I have found very helpful in my quest for a healthier life. Enjoy!

One more week in the books! It is finally cooling down so perhaps my steps might increase? Anyhow, this past week I took a grand total of 147,800 steps for a daily step average of 21,114 steps. I was active for 1,004 minutes or an average of 143 Active Minutes per day. I traveled 69.55 miles or 9.94 miles per day on average and I climbed a wind-aided 72 floors this past week. I am looking forward to next week, how about you?!
