There are many I've read in small doses, but my favorite contemporary poet is Billy Collins. :-) His poetry in lovely to read but it's even better read aloud.

John Keats for romantic expression, Wilfred Owen for stark war poetry and Edward Lear for his nonsense verse and pathos.

My favourite poem from childhood is The Dong with Luminous Nose by Edward Lear - the imagery is very striking and the poem, read now as a grown up, has much more heart and anguish.

I love to read poetry! Do you have some suggestions for great poets? Which poets do you really love to read?

My favorites are Adrienne Rich and Thomas Hardy.

But I need some suggestions!
