Tomorrow I will track my food. Just started doing it a few weeks ago. But it is hard to do it accurately.

Four months ago, upon the recommendation of a SparkPeople friend, I started a new diet. It looked really healthy. Lots and lots of vegetables and not so much of the things I seem to crave, well carbs of course. Lol. My friend told me she lost three whole pounds in a month. I was jealous to say the least. What could I lose by just trying it? Well nothing! I thought. So at 184 lbs and feeling like I could be rolled down the street as a more efficient mode of walking I made a commitment of one month to at least try the diet plan. What could I lose by just trying, I thought. And so I told my friend the word was "Go"! I bought the e-book for under $10 and the cookbook also. And this was the beginning of my new diet plan. But would it work was the question. More so, I thought would I make it work. I this wasn't the first diet plan I tried in the past three years nor was it the second, but the third! I had my doubts, but this time would be different. I had commitment and conviction. Nothing stood in my way but me. I went to the store and stocked up on lots of fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. I made a menu and hoped the money I spent on these beautiful colorful vegetables and Fruits would not be for naught. I made it through the first week. Eating 50% vegetables for breakfast was strange and unusual. Lol. I managed to make it through breakfast. I even made it through the week without snacking. Something emphasized in the diet plan. Indeed I suffered through hunger. Was it worth it? I thought. On Sunday I weighed myself I had actually lost a whole pound! Success! This was the beginning of my new lifestyle, my new diet and new habits. I was convinced. I told my friend I would continue with her diet plan. We could even compete for pounds lost! Lol. The next month got a little easier. The hunger started to go away and so did the cravings. That month I lost lots! I dropped a pound a week! Exercising was a little easier to do too, because now I had some hope to lean on. This last month has been the easiest. I've been exercising an hour a day. I have become so to speak "Sparked". lol. I just stepped on the scale and it reads 165! I am so amazed and proud of myself. Making a commitment to change your lifestyle is hard to do, but it's also very rewarding. I think my biggest obsticle was commitment. Each person has there own weak point. I say find your own weak point and try your best to make a change. I cannot say my change came in a day. No it came after many trials and failures. Just keep trying and don't give up. Eventually something deep inside you will change as it did in me.

Good luck!

Hi Jimmy,

Congratulations on taking charge! I too am tired of not losing weight and have started taking control of it. I am trying to do Weight Watchers on my own (I have been a member for so long I could run a meeting :) ) anyway I belong to a WW team and we do fun challenges. So last week and up until the end of April we are picking goals.
My goals have been to track my food, drink extra water and get at least 3000 steps on my Fitbit everyday. Last week I lost 1 1/2 pounds! I've had more energy, been exercising more and have been a lot more conscious of what I'm eating.
I am going on vacation in June to my niece's wedding and will see family that I haven't seen in a while, I would really like to lose another 8-10 pounds before then. It would really surprise some of them if I did because I would have lost close to 30 pounds. I'm the biggest person in my family and I really hate it! I don't know if I will make it but I am sure going to try!

So good luck! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am really tired of not having my weight go down. But this is my own fault because I am not doing anything about it. So I have now officially started. Claiming this to the team makes me feel more accountable.

At the start of the week I started no longer using creamer and sugar in my coffee. Now today I will have fruit and veggies in the form of a smoothie when I get home from work rather than having dinner before having dinner.

So, what small change will do today?

Jerry
