Does carrying my 2 year old up and down the stairs throughout the day count? I'm sure it's at least 10 minutes worth (we go up & down the stairs ALOT lol), but it's in 10-15 second intervals. Been doing pilates at the gym 2x/week, and Mommy-n-me yoga 1x/week. I need to get out and walk, so thanks for the challenge! That means tonight after both kids asleep I'd best get my butt out the door & around the block!! emoticon

I walk my dog daily, but I since I quit smoking, my BF does more walking than me, b/c he needs the excuse to get out. So I'm taking back my dog walking!!! 10 minutes a day! I've got that!

I have fabulous paved walking trails throughout my subdivision. For the past two weeks I've been walking on them both morning and evening. Not only is it good exercise but relaxing being out in nature. Yesterday, I started doing a kickboxing dvd which was fun. I've had SP begin to suggest strength training for me as of today, so I will give that a try as well. I'm FINALLY starting to see results! Yay! emoticon

Been walking for 13 days now. Depending on the weather I walk 1/2 mile in the morning and 1/2 mile in the evening. Depending on how I feel I have a 1 mile route mapped out that I've used twice as well. Having an MP3 player with a lot of upbeat music helps.

When the weather's not so great, I do my 20 min low aerobic Richard Simmons workout. Which is still considered cardio.

Hoping that this week I'll reach the 5 lbs lost mark!

Today is my 12th day--I've managed to get half an hour or more of exercise, and watch what I eat nearly everyday of the 12 days. I'm feeling really good about my program.

I'm still hoping to lose 3 more lbs this month (1 1/2 lbs per week) to reach my July goal of 199 (I'm wanting to get to "onederland" lol)

I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC day today!

Thanks for all the good suggestions and support, everyone!

I've developed a little 15-20 minute routine (stuff like sit-ups, leg lifts, etc.) to do daily, which goes a long way to making me feel like I'm getting *some* exercise. As of this week, I am okay doing some light walking, so I'm going to start with about 10 minutes of that a day too. It doesn't seem like much, but it is SO MUCH better than nothing!

I love the variety of things people are doing, and feel encouraged to keep up with my small efforts. You guys are great!

WOW!!!
There is a lot of great activity going on here. I have found my little place in the world of activity--in the pool. I go every day and I exercixe in the water for about an hour and a half and then I swim laps for another half an hour. I'm not the world's greatest swimmer or the like, but it is working for me. I have pretty nasty arthritis that makes walking difficult on many days--but I get int he pool and I can just go. Our fitness center has these weird summer hours that are redusced on Saturday and they now close on Sunday until Labor Day, I think. If I cannot find a substitute for the pool on Sunday, I am so stiff by Monday, life is tough. I toss this out, not to make anyone feel sorry for me, but to send out another idea to people who haven't found what works for them--and for Packrat as you heal. (I started physical therapy in January in a warm pool, so there is something healling and medicinal to this.)
Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Trying to get in some biking (slowly) every weekend, and a routine of even slower walk/run three times a week (at the moment, the routine is 5 minutes jog, 1 minute run, 5 minutes jog... for a total of 4 rounds of jogging). That's just about as much as I can manage!

I'm a member of Fitness First gym, which means I can go to pretty much any Fitness First branch all over the world! (How amazing is that!) Well, I just started a new job a month ago, and after taking a little hunt around last week, I discovered there is a Fitness First branch literally 2 mins from my work place! I was unbelieveably happy. So i've been hitting the gym every day at lunch for at least 30 mins. (It also helps that there is a super HOT guy who works at that gym...a bit of eye-candy always helps lol)
Just goes to show: there's always an opportunity to do a bit of exercise if you really want to. Just takes a bit of thinking outside of the box.

I did Jillians 30-day shred Level 1 this morning, then went to a 45 minute step class. Very proud of myself for crawling out of bed at 8 this morning to exercise before the day got too busy.
Happy Saturday all x

Me and exercise are not friends yet, but I'm hanging in there with my daily little ten-minute walks. My i-pod makes it bearable.
Next week it's supposed to start getting hot, so I've also been doing extra cleaning on the house before that happens (heat waves are miserable especially if you gotta do extra scubbing).
And to pack rat: On PBS, in the mornings, there is a lady that does a half hour of leading sitting exercises.

I did 30 minutes of Walk Away the Pounds cd yesterday, plus a 30 minute strengthening routine from the spark videos. The work out was HARD lol
I did one with an exercise ball plus enough other exercises to meet the 30 min goal I had.
Then about 20 minutes of gardening.
Lots of exercise for my day 1!!

Are we only supposed to post if we enjoyed it? LOL
I get bored so easily and I'm always trying to find something new. My husband bought a new adjustable dumbbell set last week, so I set the Strength training for SP to design my program and I'm trying different cardio workouts on OnDemand on ExerciseTV (free!). Today, I did some resistance bands work and Jillian Michaels 3-Day Shred Day 1. That's the only day that's on OnDemand, so I may survive. emoticon

Pack_Rat, so sorry about your ankle! As for exercising while sitting I know that there are DVD's that can be found on Amazon for just that. You may also be able to find some at your local library. I would also check with your doctor to see how much you can and cannot do.

I hope your ankle heals quickly!

I am busy healing from a broken ankle, so walking (even for 10 minutes) is not my strong suit right now. Any ideas on exercising while sitting still are welcome!

Did sit-ups, upper body movements, and general wiggling for at least ten minutes today.

Building in fitness can seem like a scary thing if you haven't been focused on it recently. Let's start today through July with 10 minutes of walking or any other activity that you enjoy. Please post here and share how this is going for you. Please feel free to brag if you are doing more or different activities. (The rest of us can use the motivation and good ideas.
