Bumping up the weekend challenge! I think that eating clean and staying on track on the weekends is going to get more critical, at least for me, with the holidays coming up. My dad is coming to visit next week, and we'll probably do an early Thanksgiving, then the next weekend is my birthday, and we'll be going out to a restaurant and I'm ordering whatever I feel like having.
So tomorrow morning, I plan to be on my bike by 8 AM, headed out to the stable, which is 10 miles each way, and keep my diet on track (no greasy diner breakfast this weekend!). Lots of fall gardening to do, too. Voluntary Discomfort is the secret cornerstone of strength. Great challenge!
I will try to do all 3. OK, so I will probably sleep an hour later than I would during the week, but isn't one of the other SP challenges getting enough sleep? ![]() Voluntary Discomfort is the secret cornerstone of strength. Staying within my calorie range today - and planning my meals more carefully. No extra exercise - too hot and we don't have air! It just doesn't normally get that hot here. But doing some housework before it gets too hot!

I think I'm a week late - but this is a good one so I'm in! I'll report back tomorrow.

Okay, I got 2 of the three done.
On Saturday I didn't do any scheduled exercise, but did yard work and house maintenance. I figured it was enough in the calorie burning dept. WHEW! I did an extra workout on Sunday of 20 minutes of walking after my regularly scheduled 30 minute C25K W3D3. Today (Monday) I did 15 minutes on the treadmill this morning -walking- and took the dogs for a 40 minute walk this evening. I did manage to get up close to my regular wake up time - at least equivalent sleep hours as I tend to go to bed later on weekends. This morning was the hardest as I was really tired. I know I need more hours of sleeping at night so will have to work on this one. The one I didn't get done is doing something for another. I was going to talk to my friend, but didn't get a hold of her. Tracy G

I'm laid up on the couch still, but I did my therapy stretching on my thigh and I stayed within my calorie range.

For my extra workout today was the elliptical trainer for half hour. My mom needed to be on the treadmill and I joined her on the elliptical trainer right next to her. We watched MSNBC while we were there.

![]() We're going to an out of town wedding this weekend, and my husband is a groomsman, so I'm planning to use my downtime while he's discharging his wedding party duties to do some awesome hiking along the Niagara Escarpment - I think that'll MORE than cover my extra workout, and if I get up at my regular wake-time and really hustle, I'll be able to catch the sunrise from a new awesome vantage each day! ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, I'm pretty sure I already have #3 covered - we're driving a friend of ours down to the wedding, and letting her an two (!!) other cash-strapped friends share our suite with us. It'll be like camp, but with people in their late twenties. So... it'll be like "Wet Hot American Summer," basically. "I will run, until there's no one left to run. I'm committing to all three. I'm visiting my parents this weekend, and I'm certain I can do #3 for them. Waking up at 5am on my weekend will be hard, but that's why it is a challenge. Doing the extra workout will be FUN! I'm going to try yoga.

Okay, I am in for all three! I know the waking up at your regular wake up time is going to be the most difficult because I really like my weekend sleep in, but I get so much more done when I get out of bed.

Oh I know I'm late. Some of you are already in your Saturday. I'm soooo sorry.
Here is the Weekend challenge. Choose one of the following.... (by the way, those of you in the US who have Monday off because of labor day, the "weekend" for this challenge includes Monday) 1. Get an extra work out, even if its only 10 minutes. There are some SparkPeople videos that are only 10 minutes. You could even do stretches for 10 minutes. If you are able to do an more than 10 minutes, then do it! 2. Wake up every weekend day at your regular wake up time. Remember for those of you in the US, this includes Monday Labor day. 3. Go out of your way to Help out a friend with a kind gesture. Examples are cooking a meal for someone who is sick, babysitting for a new mom so she can get some much needed sleep, or grocery shopping or errand running for someone who cannot regularly get to the store, or simply calling a friend for a good chat. Some times the smallest gestures are the HUGEST help. ~~ Ellie from Ridgecrest, CA
