I went to my doctor and she put me on medication for my hbp. I was reading about eating celery just last week. Haven't eaten much so, not sure if that helped any, but my bp has gone down since last week when I started the meds. Need to get back to exercising, but have been somewhat busy with school and homework lately. In the next month, I will be having some surgical procedures, one is a laprascopy scheduled for the 14th, I just may consider going with the full surgery instead (hysterectomy)...just to get it over and done with with. I will have plenty of time for recuperation then for homework!!

My BP was high after my father passed away. I was very stressed because my mother had 2 strokes. I ate 2 celery stalks a day and it helped.me. I just read that purple potatoes help too. I had reactions to meds and was afraid to take them. exercise also helps. Talk to your Dr. about what is right for you.

Make changes slowly and not too abruptly and enjoy what you eat. I put cold olive oil on my salads and veggies for a bigger benefit.

I'm seeing my family doctor on Monday for high blood pressure. My bp has always been low, but the last couple of months I've been watching it, because it has slowly been creeping up. She will probably want to put me on medicine, which is fine and there really is no arguing with her about it. I want to ask her about "diet" and losing this this weight. I already know I need to work on portion control and that tracking does help. I just want to see what she has to say about it. I was thinking about seeing a dietician, again to see what they would have to say. I've been wanting to try TMW for a long time and have put it off for a while. It takes time to change eating habits. I have slowly added grains and tuna (('m not a fish person), but then I end up back to my old ways. I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl. I need to get more veggies and fruit in. I guess maybe I should start another thread...."How did you change your ways to live the TMW?" I think I will!!

Portion control and exercise! Going to try to stay away from sugar (or at least limit it) which is my main problem.

Elle, I was thinking the same thing, moderation and then some more moderation. I won't deprive myself of anything but if I keep portions small or have just a bite, I'll do good emoticon unless it's my triggger food (potato chips) which I will stay clear of, can't stop at one, LOL emoticon

I am going to try hard to keep "mindful eating" and portion control. I will not deprive myself. Sometimes just a taste of a treat will satisfy and stop cravings.
