Today I wanted to test my walk/run distance & endurance becaused I signed up to do a half marathan in November. I am happy to say that I did a 8.46 miles in 180 min. = 21min/mile. I have 11 weeks to train to improve my time. Now I feel more confident that I would finish the race.

Reporting from NYC. Hurricane Irene didn't stop me from my walks. I walked the afternoon before the hurricane hit NYC and the mornning after. The rain didn't matter, it was nice and cool and I enjoyed by walks. Glad the hurricane is over and didn't do as much damage as predicted.

See? Anything that increases your resting heart rate counts! Trust me...30 minutes outside or in the gym with that little "tribe of mine" will surely increase a heart rate (and makes me SO thankful for teachers!)

Yay!

WTG, NEW-CAZ for getting the first day done already!

I am either going to try and take a short lunch and get to the church early and hop on the treadmill (it's going to be 108 today and that's not including the heat index and I refuse to go out in that).......but I'll probably end up exercising after VBS--much less chaotic that way (and I get to keep the hour of lunch...)

I'm in - I have done well with the weight loss but find it is better if I exercise. Really concentrating on the trunk and core area. Will do the elliptical for 30 minutes and then strength exercises for the trunk.

I DARE You to work to get in 30 minutes of CARDIO activity 4 days per week. Anything just get your heart rate up. Hula hoop, jump rope, jumping jacks, swim, let your toddler or preschooler chase you, let the dog walk you, sing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" as you walk through the neighborhood, power walk in the mall, do lunging squats, Dance Dance Revolution....
The 30 minutes doesn't have to be all at once--10 minutes 3 times a day OR 15 minutes 2 times a day counts too....just do what works for you and then tell us about it.

This just meets the basic requirements for fitness. Keep your nutritional matters in check, add these 2 hours of fitness into your week and you'll feel better and be more healthy! This is 540 (30 minutes X 4.5 weeks) minutes dedicated to cardio. CARDIO helps keep you heart healthy and burns off the fluff covering those nice muscles you have from your strength training.

Check in here when you do your cardio. You can just say "hey, I've done my cardio for the day" or you can say "hi" and tell us what you did. I'm hoping for peer pressure here--ya know? All your friends are doing it and you don't want to be left out. Just be sure and tell us what you are doing.

AND don't forget to log all of your hard work on your fitness tracker.

August 1st is MONDAY but you don't have to wait. NOW is a great time to start. Oh and the key to meeting this challenge? STARTING.
