I love doing planks Becky
A trick I have to lasting longer is to try to hold the position for the lenght of the song on the radio at the time.
Man you can feel it afterwards but it does take your mind of the time you're doing it.

I spend much of my time on the Internet searching for interesting things, but today... this exercise has shown up just about everywhere I've turned. It must be telling me something!

Elbow Plank (or SP Modified Plank)
You can do this! See increase core and low-back strength in as little as two weeks!

1. Start by lying face down on the ground or use an exercise mat. Place your elbows and forearms underneath your chest. Elbow should be right under your shoulder.
2. Prop yourself up to form a bridge using your toes and forearms
3. Maintain a flat back, don't allow your hips to sag towards the ground.
4. Hold this position for 60 seconds

If you cannot hold this position for 60 seconds at once, do as much as you can rest as long as necessary and continue until you have held it for a total of 60 seconds. This is one rep.
You will do a total of 5 reps or 300 seconds.
