I gave up 1 glass of soda a day; going from 20 oz to 12 oz per day. I also picked a piece of fresh fruit instead of a fudge-covered granola bar.

Congrats on the good days. I've been trying to go to bed at a set time and get up at a set time, but today i took a nap. So guess what it's my set time and I'm not sleepy. Tomorrow is a new day. Good luck!!

I love soda. Not just one sort, but nearly all of them. I drive a lot with my car and every time I got gas I bought soda for the drive. I won't do that any more from now on. So far I didn't drink soda for 8 days and I'll try to go on with drinking water instead!

I've been doing well with going to bed between 10 & 11. Only one day I went to bed later (2:30 am) and it was due to insomnia but it's definitely been better this week due to me being motivated to go to bed on time.

You can do it AuntRachel!

I was doing great at going to bed earlier until tonight. I didn't get to bed until 2am. There was so much going on and I just wasn't tired. Even after I got in bed I was awake for a long time. Hopefully tonight will be better.

My frist night of intended going to bed at a reasonable hour went great. In bed before 10:30! Last night was terrible. My husband was on call, and I hate going to bed when he's not home. Anyway, I stayed up late and watched the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Luckily despite a 5am waking the little one went back to sleep and both girls slept until 6:30 so I got almost 6 1/2 hours of sleep!

It has been worse. I'll jump back on the horse and try to get bed early tonight.

What if instead of going straight to the FF ranch, ease in with Hidden Valley Light - it's not as sweet as the FF, and is still creamy. Or mix your FF equally with the Full Fat- over time the Full Fat will start to taste heavy.

Great job, throwing away the donuts! I remember from when I quit smoking that it's much much harder to avoid a behavior than it is to replace it with something else. Your donuts after a long night's work were your reward. Can you find something else to replace that with? Another treat that signals the end of the work day? Maybe a big fruit smoothie? A pot of herbal tea with splenda if you have a sweet tooth? A low fat latte? A slice of banana bread? Just some thoughts.

I'm trying to instill the same sort of "good treats" as a habit with my daughter. When she is really good and deserves a "special treat" I reward her by taking to the green grocer (we have a specialty fruit and vegetable shop in our village) and letting her choose anything she wants from the store. Blueberries, cherries, apples, anything at all. It's a fun way to reward her, and good for my diet too!

AuntRachel ... try mixing the fat free and the regular together (half and half or whatever) and work your way to the fat free.... that's how I've switched over to a lot of things where the taste was off to me and I didn't like it, so I mixed it until gradually the stuff I wanted to switch to was the dominate flavor and eventually the old was gone!

I'm also going to use your suggestion ... I really don't have much food wise to give up that's not healthy but I do need desperately to get in bed at a decent time. That starts tonight, right now!

Good night all =)

I usually have donuts when I get off work, ( I work nights) and it has been a long week without them. I bought three this morning and tried to reason I would save them for my son!!! But when my mouth watered as I walked out the store I Knew better and I tossed them in the trashcan outside the store cause I knew I would eat them not saving them for my son. ARGH!!! lol

Hmmm.... I've jumped in with both feet, so I don't have much to give up at this point! At least when it comes to food and drinks. I'm not giving up my morning coffee, that's totally off limits! Maybe I'll try to give up staying up late. I could certainly use a little more sleep.

My goal this week is to stay within my calorie range...it may be hard as we have company visiting and we are traveling. Still I'm going to eat small portions of fattening stuff and snack on lots of fruits and veggies.

I'm going to give up my 5:00 TV news time (couch patato) ,instead I'm going to take me and my dog for a walk. I figure it would be easier to do this when I get right home from work before I can think of reasons not to, like watching the news! Besides the news comes on at 6:00, 9:00 and 10:00 emoticon

Hmmm....I'm one of those people that something sweet signals the end of the meal for me. So I'm going to reduce it down from a full on sweet to 1 hershey's dark chocolate kiss. If I do away with it completely, I'll keep munching. I know it'll sabotage my new lifestyle, so I'm going to lessen the degree of the sweet. So instead of a nutty buddy, or a cupcake, I'm just going to eat 1 kiss after a meal and ACCOUNT for it!

Rachel, try just eating 1/2 a serving of the full calorie ranch dressing that you like instead of switching to the low fat. I dip my fork into the dressing and then spear the salad. That way I get a taste of dressing in every bite and I'm not drowing my healthy salad in fat.

Well, I already failed at what I was going to do. I couldn't stand the taste of the fat free Ranch Dressing. I guess I'll try to go to bed by 1am. That will be giving up the late night staying up instead of staying up all night and then also I will get up earlier giving up the sleeping in all morning. This will be tough for me but I'll give it a try. I couldn't think of anything else to do.

My wife has already given up pop for other health reasons but I've still been drinking one every once and awhile. I think I'm going to try to completely get rid of pop and simply drink water. I like water so that's a plus.

I'm trying to eat more "real" food instead of canned or boxed whenever possible. Already gave up the diet sodas for water. It's kind of funny, but the only times I miss the diet sodas are when I'm eating something I shouldn't be eating anyway such as a burger and fries or pizza.

Merry Christmas!

I will replace my one Coke Zero a day with water. I really don't like it all that much I think its the one last thing I am holding on to like a security blanket. Today it will all be gone.

The thing that I have decided to do is Use Fat Free Ranch Dressing instead of the regular. I hope that I can deal with the taste difference. It will be nice to know that I can have it without having 140 calories per serving. It only has 30. Now I can have Ranch Dressing when I eat my vegetables and not feel like I am eating a ton of calories.

Congratulations all on the beginning of your Spark Journey! Great start everyone! Your week 2 challenge is to give up something that is not so healthy and replace it with something that is better for you. For example if you normally have more than one can of soda a day, I want you to give up one can and replace it with water. You can add fresh squeezed lemon, lime or orange to make it more palatable, or you can use crystal light if you can't live without flavor. If you are not a soda drinker, but you love your coffee, replace your afternoon cup with an iced green tea. You get the picture! Small changes reap BIG rewards. Spark on!!! Libbie
