We made it through week two! Actually, that makes it sounds like it didn't go well, but it did.

emoticon emoticon Eat More Fruits and Vegetables: I have always been good about pushing the produce on our children, but I tend to do not so great myself. Usually I am good right after the monthly shopping trip, but as the supplies of fruit and vegetables dwindle, I tend to quit serving myself to save more for our children. I have made a vow to quit doing that. It took some creative budgeting to shuffle funds around, but I was able to do an additional produce run on Friday. Not sure if I'll be able to pull it off again before the end of the month, but I am going to make the effort. Before next month, I need to take a hard look at my grocery shopping habits. I got in the routine of once-a-month shopping several years ago to save money, but it is not conducive to the fruit and vegetable situation. I need to figure out how to budget more trips to grocery store without increasing cost.

emoticon Make the Switch to Whole Grains: We switched our grains over to whole grains a few years back when I took a nutrition class, so this was my freebie this week. =)

emoticon Makeover at Least One Recipe: I have struggled all week to find a recipe I could makeover. It actually wasn't until this morning that I found one! For Father's Day, we are having a Thanksgiving-type dinner. We are roasting game hens in the slow cooker with corn and sweet potatoes as the side. My sweet potato recipe is terrible: large quantities of butter and sugar make it one of my children's' favorite dishes, but also ubber unhealthy. Well, I went for a hunt this morning to find a healthier a version.

emoticon From Last Week: I have managed to continue monitoring our screen time and we are still averaging between 30 - 90 minutes. We had a very rainy day this week, which usually turns into a movie day, but I made limited screen time a priority. We have not had anymore family meetings, but I have also not had any major concerns. Lastly, the steps I made when setting myself up for success seem to be working.
