Today we completed week 1 of the challenge. Yay!

emoticon Screen Time - I have always tried to keep our screen time to a minimum, but it was a fun challenge to actually track the minutes we spend in front of a screen. Everyday the children had at least 30 minutes. This "tech time" is their reward for completing all their chores and homework (or summer school work). Their times varied between 30 minutes and about 90 minutes. As for myself, I spend about 2 hours on my computer - this time has increased dramatically since joining SparkPeople, but I think it is worth it. I have a standing desk, so at least I am not on my bum the whole time. I am sure there are weeks when we do more, especially in winter and the rainy season.

emoticon Family Meeting - I had planned to do our family meeting at the end of the first week so I would have time to observe and develop a game plan. I came home late after a meeting to find the children drinking sugary sodas at the dinner table (something I am not okay with) and that dinner became the meeting. We discussed the goals for myself, as well as our family, and everyone seems on board with making healthy changes. Decreasing the times we eat out seems to be the biggest challenge in front of us.

emoticon Setting Myself Up For Success - I meal planned the entire month so there is no excuse for "needing" to go out and eat or picking something up on the way home. I am sure there will be moments of weakness, but it should help. We do not have an activity calendar right now, but we are pretty active during summer break. I made a note in my planner to make one when school starts back up.
