I incorporate helping with the laundry after dinner as "Laundry and a Movie Night" ~usually Friday or Saturday night or whenever I get all the laundry done{Sometimes, I have it done as early as Wed.~once!}
Here's how it works ~one person gets to select a family movie [We rotate weekly who gets to choose the movie.] I hand each person their own personalized laundry basket with their name on it and their clean laundry in it, and we FOLD clothes and watch the movie.When we are done with the movie,all the clothes are taken to each person's room and each person puts away his/her own clothes!
I started this two years ago when both myself and my DH retired. My DS is old enough to help and though he did not like it at first,now he sees he is helping,being a part of our family team and we get to enjoy each other's company and do something FUN {watching the movie} while paired with something NOT FUN {folding clothes}. It works for ME!
NOTE: I DO periodically check his bureau and help him if he stuffs everything in one drawer!

That is a good idea for your family to spend time together. We do this in our home. It works for us. We also use a wii game. When we play the wii game we get up and move with it while we play instead of sitting down while playing. Did movie night work with your family?

I have noticed my family spends way too much time online or zoning out on their laptops and tablets and not really interacting with each other ...

So I was wondering, instead of No TV\Screen time, what would the group feel about a Family Movie night ... No Laptops, No tablets, No Electronic or Paper Books ... just the family enjoying a night spent together watching a movie ... each week one member would get to choose the movie and as long as it is family friendly we all would watch their movie ... I feel this will also have the positive effect of broadening our exposure to different subjects and things other family members enjoy and find interesting.

Would love to hear opinions or ideas about my idea?
