I got sidetracked, so I've started back at week 1. My challenge goals are:

1) To get my kitchen really clean, so that it's easier to cook healthy foods in there

2) To take my lunch to work at least 4 days a week (sometimes the office goes out on Fridays, and I still want to do that sometimes)

3) To cook all "7 Super Soups" by the end of the year. I did one already: www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu

My goals for this week:

1) Go through everything in the pantry and throw out anything that is too junky, too old, or unlikely to be used in a reasonable time

2) Cook a large pot of brown rice this weekend and portion it out into two-cup quantities to use in quick meals (freeze some, refrigerate some).

3) Menu plan for the week (already done and blogged about)

After many years on Sparkpeople I I've already done most of these action steps. I make up my weekly menu on on Friday night or Saturday morning so I have my shopping list ready for Saturday's shopping. I do need to overhaul my kitchen, put everything back in place, and restock many of the basic superfoods. (For the past 3 weeks I've been stuck in a chair with my foot elevated after a foot operation.) My goal for the next 4 weeks is to learn a new recipe each week.

Over the next four weeks I want to have my cabinets and fridge completely switched over to the healthier alternatives. I want that I can reach in for a snack for my kids and it not be cookies or candy but something they will enjoy.

I have already started this part, but I need something to hold me accountable for doing it quicker.

I hope to have meals planned weekly so that I can buy and bake ahead of time to save on time in the kitchen so we can eat quicker for more family training time!!

My goal is to clean out my cupboards and my pantry. I don't have a lot of junk in my cupboards but it's disorganized. Another goal is to not waste food, so to take stock of what I have and incorporate it into my menu planner.

My goal is to plan my home-packed meals and snacks better.

I was doing so good in the summer, when I could really focus on my food and make it a priority. Now that my job is taking a lot more of my time, I need to organize better to be able to shop and cook healthier in less time.

I want to do several things. I plan to have mostly home cooked meals. I also want to redo some of my regular recipes to make them healthier. My big problem with planning ahead, is that I will have a meal planned, and my husband comes in and says "Why don't we have _______for dinner?" I don't like having to do two different meals.

I already plan out our dinners every two weeks, but my goal now is to use the recipes on this site to find some new ones to try, especially crock pot or easy weeknight meals that are healthier for me and my family. Also, I plan to take my lunch to work more often.

My goal is to create a stock of go-to quick meals so that we don't fall into the "it's faster to just go out!" trap. I love the idea of creating baskets in the pantry to save time on gathering recipes and ingredients, I think that will really help. I'd like to create two baskets for meals we always like, and then another one or two for experimental meals!

My main goal this week is to plan my menus and stick to them. I have been at this thing of weight loss for a long time, losing gradually, but I get stuck because of boring menus. I see lots of interesting recipes here on SP and look fwd to trying them.

I must get to the food store and shop wisely. correction: I WILL GET TO THE STORE and shop wisely.

I am determined to make this work.

Secondary goal--get control of my sweet tooth--my lifelong diet crasher.

My goal is to introduce myself to more foods by the season. This should save money. Any food I may want that is out of season can be canned for the time I want it. I noticed there are some great recipes and suggestions included with this team that I plan to take advantage of.

I may be using too many apps for this weight loss stuff. What I really like about SparkPeople is that is creates menus for me and develops the grocery list. I hate grocery shopping! I've been wanting to use this feature of SparkPeople for some time but it seemed like the earlier menus were not pleasing to my eye or stomach. I hope and plan to be more of a success this time around.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Journey into it with vitality and curiosity.

My goal is to cook healthier. I love all the recipes that are available in Spark. My kitchen is in pretty good shape but need to get the unhealthy snacks off the counter and replace them with fruit - maybe my husband would take an apple if it were staring at him.

One of the best tools is a crock pot. Put everything in before you go to work and leave it cooking on low all day and it will be tasty and done when you walk in the door in the evening.

I can't plan meals in advance because my husband hates it. Instead, I am going to make each meal the healthiest it can be by adding veggies and choosing lower calorie dairy and sauces.
