My main goal here is to learn how to make good, tasty, healthy foods. I don't want to be eatting the same thing all the time and get burned out. I know what foods are good for me and portion sizes but actually putting those foods together and making a dish out of it for dinner...not a clue!

Each mile begins with the first step.

My challenge goals are

1) Be a better meal planner.
2) make food that will truly fuel and nourish our bodies.
3) put healthier foods on the table to stop the cycle of obesity in my family, and get myself back on track, and prevent my daughter from every being overweight in the first place.
4) get the junk food out of the kitchen

All things are possible with God.

I've never been one to plan weekly menus, so that will be my biggest challenge. The pantry has mostly healthy foods, and I'm already cooking nearly all of my meals at home and packing luches for work. I can see that I need to add more vegetables though. I'm hoping that by preplanning, my food budget will be reduced.

My plain this week is to use my groceries i bought today. According to my list. My one thing i got that was on my list was more than i had plained simple because i had firm tofu an silken tofu on my list but to get it cheap it was 4 for $5 other wise all was on my list. I do plain to try to add more to my pantry this week. Iv got plenty of dried beans thanks to my mom in alabama. But i need to add more grains. I plain to set down tonite an attemp a menue for this week. I always prepackage my snacks if they dont come in servings already. I will pack snacks for the next 2 days for my outpatient surgery trip. Once its over i have always taken snacks to hold me over till i get home for a meal. One of my goals this week set at table to eat not in front of tv. I will no longer use it as a crutch for company.

I have a master grocery list but I haven't been using it. The local pizzeria knows my voice when I call and that's about to change.
Goals:
1. Shop once a week.
2. Prepare lunch the night before work so that I am not trying to do this in the morning
3. Stick to the "no food after 7pm" rule
4. Work out at least every other day
5. Remember that I always feel better when I stick to this plan and I always feel waaaaay worse when i don't
6. I am worth it!

Makin it happen!!

Cook healthier by:
1. Actually cooking at home (as opposed to soup/frozen meals)
2. Use more fresh vegetables
3. Experimenting by trying new recipes
4. Learning how to modify existing recipes to be healthier
5. Making menu plans and grocery lists every week and therefore having the right stuff in the house to make these healthier meals. (This is the hardest one I think)
6. Packing a healthy lunch most days

Hi all,

I'm an avid cook but rarely find the time as I have my own business which takes up, well, pretty much my entire life. However, I am trying to eat more regularly, watch my portions, and not mindlessly snack between meals or eat out of boredom or comfort.

My goals in this challenge is to make time to make an early, healthy dinner for myself and my BF and find new and exciting healthy recipes to continue on with my foodie-passion.

Hi all,
I already cleaned all the junk from my kitchen (my adults shopped here that week lol)
I already cook 3 meals a day 7 days a week at home
I cook healthy well balanced meals
I cook a variety and try not to repeat the same meal in a weeks time
My problem is the planning
I do plan every meal for a week. I have 1 drawer in my kitchen where I keep the weeks meal plan, recipes, pen, paper, and calculator. But I can't seem to stick with the plan. Yesterday I ended up changing two of our meals that lead to an extra trip to the grocery store and thats what I want to avoid.

So my goals are:
Stick to meal plan
Make 1 trip a week to grocery store

my goals are:
1.keep my kitchen clean so i can cook (i hate clean up which is usually what prevents me from cooking the next day)
2. keep healthy foods to snack on
3. cook at least 4 meals a week to start and end up cooking everyday by the end of the challenge
4. make a weekly shopping list so i don't go and just "improvise" when i get there

I've never been goal-oriented until now! It is very helpful to pick a goal and decide a plan of action. This step has been so rewarding - I give a lot more thought to what I eat plus I'm forcing myself to get physical. Already I notice less discomfort in my legs and an overall better feeling.

I want to eat healthier, and it's more cost efficient to eat better than I am inclined to. As a college student, I need to plan my meals better than I have in the past so that I use the time I have to eat well and don't spend my money buying fast food all the time.

I also want to add more variety to my current meal choices.

Last night as I was driving through McDonald's, my husband made the comment about how lucky my children were. He said his mom never got him fast food whenever they requested it. Then I thought about it... neither did my parents.

Hmmm....this isn't what being a good parent is about. I'm just setting my children up for a lifestyle of unhealthy choices.

I've decided to join this challenge to offer my children a chance of growing up healthy and passing their healthy lifestyle on to my grandchildren.

When I was younger, my dad would grocery shop on Saturday and we would spend the day Sunday after church cooking Sunday dinner AND cooking meals for the entire week. He would then freeze them.

This week I've decided to try to be a better mom. emoticon

I made a menu for the week now I have to make the shopping list. My goal is to do this every Sunday. I want to go through my kitchen again being I was not able to go through it all the first time.

I want to start cooking on the weekends and freezing some meals. There are times when I do not have time to cook.

I'd like to plan more meals ahead of time and learn how to make my favorite meals more healthy.

I have already completed this challenge but I decided to do it over again. This was the first challenge I did when I started Sparks. I know the site better now so I am going to go another round.
