Went to bed at 12:25, woke up at 3:11. Fitbit did not record stats, too little sleep. I made the mistake of taking a nap yesterday, should have stayed awake until bedtime. Went swimming around 5:30 a.m.; hopefully by bedtime I will be exhausted.

I slept 8 hrs and 24 minutes. Was awake 9 minutes. Deep sleep was 2 hrs. 41 minutes, Light sleep 5 hours and 34 minutes.

Still doing a lot of coughing from pneumonia so surprised I slept that hard. Drinking hot peppermint tea this morning hoping to bring up the crap in my lungs. Have Dr. appointment tomorrow. Tired of this cough.

Hi I finished the first week and found that the only time I got more sleep was when I had a nap earlier. I stayed away from coffee or caffeine in the afternoon and went to bed around 11 each night and once or twice I would sleep 5.5 or 6 hours and the rest was 5 and sometimes less.

I haven't started a journal (my bad). What app do you find helpful? I know that the most important sleep is before midnight. Sometimes I go to bed at 9:30-10:00. I don't know what time I actually went to sleep.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Week 1 is working well for me and I am more alert and energetic on awakening. Last night I could not meet all of my "bedtime routine" goals because I went to hear a wonderful symphony orchestra concert. After getting home I had choice--meet sleep goals or miss goal of "computer off by..." time. I chose to enter remainder of tracking sections for the day but still managed to meet goals of bed time and use of CPAP. I think I will never make goals for doing something every day as life just isn't that certain.

Have been home two nights now and my sleep has improved. I have had 8 hours sleep with one wake up each night. My dog disturbed me both nights but I managed to fall back to sleep quickly.

The last five nights have been erratic. I was staying with my niece and her two boys. Jack, the younger one ( he's 5 months) was pretty chilled but his big bro Hugo (he's three) wasn't well and so was very unsettled at night with a fever and sore tummy. This meant that I didn't sleep as well as usual. It made me realise that routine is important to me and that sleep is an important part of my lifestyle.
Last night I slept in a motel and found that the window dressings weren't adequate for a good night's sleep. Too much light wS coming into the room. I'm really glad I have good blinds and a dark bedroom.
I'll monitor my sleep etc for the rest of this week to see if I can find a pattern.

today i was really sleepy. i was also in a funk with stuff at work, i got some projects that required a lot of reasearch and some computer problems. so it was icky. i also found myself getting mad at someone who did somethng stupid. of course by the end of the day i got some research results back so i can complete stuff on monday. still felt really lethargic all week

I caved and napped tonight. i slept/rested most of the day yesterday. after my massage, i felt the stiffness leaving my body but i was still sleepy. i have not been energetic this last week. i have been falling asleep pretty well though.

last week my average sleep per night was 6 hours and 15 minutes. my goal is to get closer to 7 per night. i did ok about getting myself mentally ready for bed. my biggest issue is training my hubby. he wakes up and wants to talk. it is hard to calm him down

I went to sleep at 10. I won't get a full 8 hours but it beats staying up to 11pm or later and having to get up at 530.

at night i am going to start turning off ALL SCREENS and some lights earlier. i will either read a book (not kindle) or write (on paper!) in a sleep journal. i want to get myself away from screens to help me sleep. i want to be better on my eyes and i look at a computer all day at work. so i am working for less screen time.

Sunday 5/22- I went to bed at 10. 8:30 got my children bathed up and ready for bed. 9:30 got my kids into bed and picked up around the house. 10:went to bed and read tell 10:30. Finally fell asleep at 10.

Monday 5/23 I went to bed at 10. Got my kids ready for bed at 8:30 and got them into bed. Then i went to bed and crashed .

Tuesday 5/24- I didn't go to bed tell wedsaday morning at 3:30. I was up drinking so i let my kids stay up tell they passed out tell 10.

Wednesday 5/25-I crash out at 8;30. i was to tired to get my kids ready for bed so i passed out early

Thursday 5/26- didn't do much. was my daughters last day of school. So went swiming then went for a walk. cooked dinner when i got home and then passed out by 9.

Friday 5/27-Got my kids bathed up by 6:30 an din pjs. They went to play with there friends and read to my daughter for a while then at 10 i went to bed.

Saturday 5/28- tonight gonna get my kids ready for bed at 8:00. Finish doing launderyy, take a shower. put the dishes away and go t to bed and read. be asleep by 10:30

This seems to be an inactive group....but I will jump in to get myself on track. I would like to sleep at least 5 hours for my first goal. I plan to start my journal this evening.

There have already been some major changes in my sleep patterns. I have stopped taking sleep aids & I am sleeping better & waking up easier & more rested.

Background - I had been taking prescription sleeping pills since right before my son died 4 years ago. Because of health warnings from the manufacturer, my doctor had cut the prescription in half about a month ago & then changed it to something else about a week ago. All times are according to my Fitbit.

Sunday 8/23 - went to bed at 10:45 after taking one of the new pills. I couldn't sleep so I was up for a while at 11:30, 1:20 & 3:25. At 3:25 am I sent an email to my doctor telling him that I was having bad side effects from the new pills & wasn't going to be taking them any more. I also told him that I was starting the Spark People Better Sleep Challenge. I went back to bed at 3:51 & went to sleep 24 minutes later.& woke up 12 times before getting up at 10:14 am. Slept 5 hrs. 44 min.

Monday 8/24 - since my goal was to go to bed between 10:30 & 11:00 I knew that I needed to get up earlier at least one morning to get the pattern started. I took my original sleeping pill in the original dosage & was in bed at 12:52. It took 47 min. to go to sleep & I woke up or was restless 22 times before getting up at 9:03 am. Slept 6 hrs. 52 min.

Tuesday 8/25 - first night in a long time with no sleep aid. Unfortunately my Fitbit wasn't charged so I don't have any firm numbers for that night; however, I do know (from my sleep diary) that I went to bed at 11:00 & woke up at 8:00. Don't know how long it took to go to sleep or how many times I woke up in that time.

Wednesday 8/26 - Went to bed at 10:58 & woke up at 7:05. It took 28 minutes to go to sleep & I woke up or was restless 67 times. Slept 6 hrs. 9 min.

Thursday 8/27 - Went to bed at 9:40 & woke up at 7:09. It took 30 minutes to go to sleep & I woke up or was restless 56 times. Slept 7 hrs. 26 min.

Friday 8/28 - Went to bed at 10:44 & woke up at 7:00. It took 44 minutes to go to sleep & I woke up or was restless 47 times. Slept 6 hrs. 53 min.

Saturday 8/29 - Went to bed at 11:09 & woke up at 7:10. It took 30 minutes to go to sleep & I woke up 5 times & was restless 19 times. Slept 6 hrs. 37 min.

I'm very happy about the progress I've made, even though some people wouldn't be. Considering that I started the challenge & stopping taking sleeping pills at the same time, I think it's great. The best part is I feel better as a result of both.
