OK- put the brakes on ..... what is happening.. I have worked so hard getting in 30-35 min of cardio everyday since tuesday and I started getting so hungry -- I ate more than normal at dinner and still was not satisfied.. had more than I should of a snack too-
today my cals are 2003... carbs 291 !!
lunch at the senior center was 723 cal and I did not eat the banana..
Dinner I ate 2 large slices of my sourdough bread and that was 526 cal...alone...
but my blood sugars are great.. 2 hours after dinner 98.
this afternoon it was 81... confused???
and I have gained a pound back..

This has been way harder than I expected it to be. I have been exercising regularly for years but for the past couple of months have really been struggling with illness and a knee injury. Still, I have made it at least 5 days a week for the past four week and I am very proud of myself for that.
I think I will stick with a long term goal of at least 100 minutes of cardio a week and 2 sessions of weight training.

I did it. 4 weeks, adding just 10 minutes per day and I feel great. Not super toned, but the weight has been constant, and I have more energy.

Finished week four on a high note. Fit in 5 days of exercise, including 2 strength training workouts at my local YMCA, and 3 training runs in preparation for a 5K on April 9. I'm pleased to say, I managed to hit 5 days of 10 mins exercise for the whole four weeks! And found it's not so hard to do when you find exercises you enjoy!

Wouldn't you know that I would get sick Thursday of the last week of the challenge. I have made myself do a minimum of ten minutes everyday anyway! Without this challenge I wouldn't have.

emoticon to all my team mates for reaching their goals!! emoticon

This has been the perfect challenge for me. I had fallen off the exercise wagon and needed to get back on. I am exercising anywhere from 30 - 50 minutes a day. I am running at least 3 days a week again when the weather cooperates. I am parking farther away from the school's front door and while I work I walk to the office or other classrooms to ask questions or deliver things rather than sending a student or email.

My goal it to not only continue the streak, but to up the amount of minutes for ST, that isn't one of my favorite activities. The cardio is much more fun for me. At some point in my life I would like to run a marathon and participate in a triathlon. The plan was for me to do the triathlon next year for my 50th birthday with my daughter. I would like very much to complete that goal.

Congratulations again to all of you who have kept the streak alive.

Thanks for this challenge! I only had 2 days that I missed during the 4 weeks. I have resumed ST three times a week and walk every day for at least 10 minutes. I'm currently on track to reach 1000 fitness minutes in February!

This challenge has helped me set the foundation for more consistency in my workouts.

Week 4 is done. I have felt a bit more energy and feel pretty guilty if I don't want to do at least my 10 minutes a day. Been sticking to it for the most part.

Now, to continue with at least 10 to 15 minutes a day and increase the time, continue to look for fun ways to exercise and add some strength training.

I started off at 10 mins, and climbed to 30 mins of DVD with Richard Simmons or Zumba (LOL That's sooo much FUN !) and am now doing THE WHOLE 50 mins ! Woooohoooo! I sometimes break it up by pausing it and that works for me. I think it's better for us. I just bought "The Spark" and am waiting to read whats the best way to get the most benefit out of excerise. Is breaking it up better?

I am PROUD of myself ! That's 5 times a week consistantly, on weekends my granddaughter is here and she gets me off tract, NO I've learned on this site, *I* ALLOW myself to not follow through, that has to STOP ! Ahhh yes ! BINGO !

I skipped over my fourth week of exercise. Was taking care of a couple of sick family members this week. My exercise buddy, my daughter was down with a bad cold and did not feel up to exercising this week. I did manage some cleaning this week and I got a workout that way. Will be doing week 4 over again so I can get back into the routine a bit.

Because I had committed to exercising a minimum of 10 minutes a day, I almost reached 1000 fitness minutes in January. My immediate goal (besides finishing week 4) is to earn the 1000-fitness minutes award in February.

Week 4 went great, and I am now finding that I work out everyday without even thinking about it. My next goal is to add some strength training to my routine 2-3 times a week.

Great challenge!

This challenge has kept exercise in my forethougts. I find that even when I am cooking and the radio is on I want to move. Seriously, I have always enjoyed my 3 days at curves and now the are doing Zumba, I really enjoy it. Then for 3 other days I try something. I have been doing different things. I have a Zumba video, I have tried strength exercises off of SP and I have a Pilates video which I have had for 4 yrs. now and hadn't used. I have now dusted it off and am using it for 30 min. I am thankful for this challenge because it got me to MOVING!!!! Thank you SP emoticon

You can tell yourself that you have already decided, that nothing now can stop you, but if that step backwards is so much safer than step forwards, what will hold you true to your path when the going gets tough? Sometimes, the right thing to do is to take that first irreversible step, the one after which you cannot go back. And now, for you, is one of those times.

This challenge has been a real help to me by putting fitness more to the fore of my thoughts. Because I had something to check off on my program I looked for more ways to fit it into a busy schedule. I work midnight 12 hour shifts and some days only have enough time to clean up, eat sleep and get back to work. I constantly tell myself I don't have enough time to exercise. Turns out 30 minutes with Nicole isn't the only way to do it. Thanks for the heads up. My husband got us a gym membership and besides my Sparks program of strength training and cardio we will be going to the gym together for an hour or so 2 times a week.

My long term exercise goals are Zumba 2x/wk, Full-body Strength class 1x/wk, Pilates 1-2x/wk, walk most days 15-30 minutes, working in intervals in 1 walk/wk, 10 min at home w/DVD's most days, especially days I don't do much other exercise, good stretching session 2x/wk. Once I get more stable, yoga 1x/wk.

That gives me a class each morning M-F for consistency, and I can add a walk in before/after most of those days plus weekends. The 10 minute video at the end of the day is a bonus.

I am glad I did this, I realized I don't have to start thinking about working out for an hour, I can fit exercise into my day a whole lot easier and more willing to do it when I think 10, when I start working out I always keep working out for 30. It's a great motivator to keep me exercising for life and when I don't want to exercise I just do 10. A new me is coming on strong. YEAH for SP. emoticon

I've enjoyed this challenge. It helped me realize I can fit in at least a little exercise each day, and I'll feel better because of it. After a stressful day, cardio kickboxing is just what I need. I'm going to continue with my streak and try to add in more variety and longer workouts.

enjoyed challenge and know it helped me just continue to focus on consistency. I will work to reach my 204 goal be my Birthday 2/5/11. One thing I did notice during the challenge is that I need to make sure I take my days off from hard workouts and this intern make me have better work outs over the long run.

Thanks for the Challenge!

I have enjoyed this challenge. It has been great to really develop that habit of exercising consistently AND breaking the mindset that a small amount of exercise isn't effective.
My long-term fitness goals aren't detailed Yet. Short-term, I'm training to be part of a relay marathon in 6 more weeks.
Medium goal- I plan to run a half marathon in October for my big 4-0 birthday.
Thanks for the help!!!

This challenge has helped me by keeping me committed to fitting something in every day. yesterday I actually did 50 crunches and 30 knee to elbow crunches and 30 half (on my knees) pushups. I felt GREAT and this month so far I have lost 11lbs. yeahhhhhh Blessings and hugs to everyone

This challenge has helped me to be SURE I get my 10 minutes a day of exercise. Lots of days I got more but I made sure to do at least 10 minutes. I am started Stage 2 again--I need to get re-committed to exercise and nutrition since I have hit a plateau. I want to lose at least 6 more pounds--16 is my long-term goal but I am setting small goals and working toward them. Thank you all for your help--knowing lots of others were working with me helped!

This challenge has really helped me. I usually exercise between 30 and 90 minutes a day - but when I didn't have time for at least 30 minutes, I wouldn't exercise at all. Now I'm learning to do at least 10 or 15 minutes, and usually, later in the day, I can get in another 10 or 15 minutes, or even more. And having done even a little makes me feel happier with myself, keeps my metabolism up, and encourages me to exercise the next day!

I am getting better at squeezing things in! And I "bounce" more in my housework--trying to pull a little more motion out! So--it is happening! I also miss my exercise if I don't get it early in the day. So hopefully I can continue at least 10 minutes a day.
