aw, you guys are the BEST! Knowing that you all are checking up on my progress is helping me stay accountable. I'm a pro excuse maker, but thanks to you guys I don't feel like I have that option to fall back on anymore :).

I did talk myself out of my Pilates routine yesterday; we went most of dayshift without a nurse because the one scheduled was sick (upper respiratory infection, which Little Man absolutely can't be exposed to). Our two night shift nurses worked it out so that the one who was scheduled for that night came in early and the other relieved her around 2 this morning, and I could have fit the workout in once she got here. But I was tired and *really* didn't want to, so I allowed myself the pass.

But since I knew I'd opened my big mouth and told you guys about my goals, I made myself keep that Pilates routine on the schedule. I just finished it a few minutes ago, and once I post this I'm going to head back to the bedroom to get in my cardio :). No excuses!

Woohoo! I survived week 3, officially setting a personal record for the longest consistency in any "lifestyle change" I've ever attempted.

That's...kinda sad now that I think about it. But you know what? Who cares about those attempts. THIS time is the time that matters, and THIS time I'm killing it.

I had a little bit of discouragement this morning when I stepped on the scale and saw a three pound gain. I was so bummed out that I almost gave up for the day (which, knowing me, would have meant giving up for 6+ months). But that was the OLD me. I knew I hadn't done anything wrong this last week, so there was nothing to beat myself up over. I decided to keep pushing.

I'm glad I did, because it turns out that the dial which calibrates our scale had come loose. Just stepping on the scale was making the knob spin and adding on extra pounds. My husband discovered the problem when he went to weigh himself, fixed it, and convinced me to try again. With the scale corrected, it turns out I LOST three pounds last week! That brings me to a total of 22 pounds since I started on August 4th.

Now that I've gotten myself into the habit of exercise 6 days a week, I wanted to follow this week's advice and change things up a little. I tried to watch Sparkpeople videos, but I've been having technical difficulties since upgrading to Windows 10. Despite updating, my shockwave player keeps crashing halfway through videos. I thought about stopping there, but didn't let myself use that excuse; instead, I went to Youtube and found some Pilates videos to add in. I'm still using the Couch to 5k app for interval training on my recumbent bike 3 days a week, but I've replaced the bike with 30 minutes of Pilates and/or Yoga on Tue/Thur to add variety and strength training. Saturday is still 10+ minutes of whatever I feel like doing that day.

My progress is paying off, because it's given me the courage to do something I've ALWAYS wanted to do...I've signed up for a 4 week beginner's belly dance intensive starting in September. I ADORE belly dance but have never had the guts to try it outside of youtube videos in my living room. At 248 pounds, it still probably sounds crazy to most people. But I grew up with the instructor and I know that she's body positive and encouraging, so I'm going for it. Wish me luck!
