I'm not feeling well, but I got 10 min in on the Kinect while my husband took the kids to the bus. I also went for a 1 mile walk after a breathing treatment. I expected it to take 30 min, but it only took 24! emoticon

Today I cleaned my yard, pulled weeds, fertilized the lawn and flower beds. It was a beautiful day and I really got lost in my outdoor chores. I feel great! I didn't want to stop, but my favorite exercise show was on TV. I did 30 minutes of Power Yoga, washed clothes, made the beds, did a quick dusting, then had to go to the mall. This is my morning. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Day 9... hard to believe I've worked out 8 out of the last 9 days!... hopefully a habit in the making... I did some kettlebell workout and some upper body weights... made a meatless "chicken" sandwich for dinner and a salad to take for my lunch!

Despite having crazy long shifts this week, I managed to try something every day. Fortunately for my workplace ( a small restaurant), the owner/head chef is a bit of a health nut. We've had pushup "contests" to start the day for the last few shifts! Great fun. We also had some off-site catering that was about 200 yards away from the restaurant, so I ran or power-walked over if the situation allowed. I got one of our prep cooks to wiggle-dance with me while we were washing dishes! Maybe I'll try to jog from the nearby public parking instead of walking.

This is the start of Week 2 of the 10- Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge. I usually don't exercise on Sunday. Its my rest day, to stay at home, read, cook, and get organized for the upcoming week. But today was such a beautiful and sunny day, so I walked for 30 minutes in and around the neighborhood. I also did 10 mins each of Fit, Firm, and Fired Up (Lower Body Blast and Strengthen and Lengthen workouts). Also I did 15 mins Cardio in a Crunch. Nice way to start Week 2. emoticon emoticon

I am ending week two. This week instead of using handicap parking, I would park a few spaces away. I stood and did my dishes and cook my breakfast and lunch. I added extra exercise time each day. So say this was a good two weeks of this challenge. Now to start week 3. LOL Wonder what challenges there will be??:)

Slow and steady will see me though to the end.

I have completed Week 1 and today starting Week 2. This challenge keeps me interested and quite eager to prove to myself that I can do a minimum of 10 minute exercises without fail.
Have a restful tomorrow and Spark On! emoticon emoticon

I've been parking farther from the entrance to the stores. I walk the whole store when I go shopping. I take the stairs when I can at work. I try and take the long way around at work when I have to talk with someone. I try to do exercises while watching TV.

I Play Wii Fit every night after I put the little ones to sleep, at least 15 minutes. Does not feel like real exercise but very convenient and fun. I add some strength training whenever I can but still find it difficult after 2 years of limited activity (twin pregnancy & first crazy year).
I also dance for 15 minutes with the babies almost every afternoon which is a lot of fun. I try to turn bedtime rocking into some stretches too :)
Read lots of comments about zumba & saw some cool stuff on utube, hopefully will try it out some time.

So far I have kept up with the 10 min streak challenge.. week 2 and increasing exercise where possible. I plan to use the stairs and work in a routine of exercise at my desk. This challenge has been very motivating.

Finished week 2 yesterday. Had a bad sore throat and cough for a couple of days that had me down & out - but knowing I had SP and this challenge to come back to helped me from wallowing around longer than I needed to! I still find myself working on that "exercise purposefully" thing, I occasionally counted things I normally do (like "housecleaning") towards my 10 minutes, and while I know that is activity I'd rather think of that as a bonus.

But I am glad that I: a) generally park in the far reaches of parking lots and walk to where I'm trying to go; b) have started to take the elevator to the 5th floor instead of 6th and walk up that extra flight of stairs; c) my building is BIG- when I have meetings, I try to take the long way back to my office to work in more steps. Looking forward to ramping it up in week 3, even though there is more business travel in my future this week - ugh.

Starting over ... but making progress again ... woo hoo!

End of week two yesterday. Have managed to keep the daily 10 minute exercise and was often able to extend it. Instead of phoning people at work I walked and talked face to face with them, also took the stairs even when I didn't feel like it.

Hi everyone. End of week 2 finally. My walk/run went really good today. I started a week ago for that challenge forum but all I do these days applies to how well I'm doing now. Well anyway the point is I finally can do the walk/run without wanting to fall over and pass out or be completely out of breath to the point I was getting severe headaches. But not today and I felt so good about myself. Small accomplishments have great effects and make me look forward to the next one. And between parking further away, sprinting through the store to shop I not only get some exercise in, but I don't allow for anything but what I went in for and thus have saved a bit of money because not just wondering mindlessly and leisurely through the store which I did many times made for purchases I really didn't need. So I'm getting fit and saving money this is excellent. And those ten minutes daily exercises are getting easier to fit in this way.

I am parking further away from work and walking instead of parking right next to the building, that was an easy one to do. I am working on cleaning my house in 10 minute spurts everyday instead of stressing to find a day to get it all done. I am also washing my dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher.

The end of week two is much better than the start! I'm walking more and enjoying doing exercise workouts whether its one from sparkpeople or a Wii workout. I've been doing squats and lunges during ad breaks, doing stretches at my desk at work and more. I'm feeling so much better for it. Week 3 here I come! emoticon

I'm almost to the end of week 2. I've been parking further away from wherever I go to get extra walking in. Sometimes I sprint through the grocery store. LOL people think I'm a bit off in the head I think cause they clear a path but I don't care. When I buy a gallon of milk I use it as a weight alternating hands and exercising til I get to the car. And whenever possible if I don't have an abundance of bags with me I carry them instead of rolling them in my cart to the car. You start feeling it by the time you get there believe me. I still haven't bought a pedometer but I plan to this week it's on my calender to-do list.

This is my first week back at work after 6 weeks of recuperating from spinal fusion and I'm tired -- I set the alarm on my cell phone to go off every 75 minutes and I get up and walk from one end of the building to the other -- so I AM moving and will worry about "real" exercise when I'm more healed. emoticon

So, now that week2 is over.. I'm glad I did the following:
1. Park at the end of the parking lot and walk (kind of annoying and embarrassing if you are with people, lol)
2. On commercials, do crunches, sit-ups, etc.. Every little bit helped.

I've only been on SP for a week and joined this challenge the first day I signed up. I am excited to be starting week 2 of this challenge. I have been exceeding the 10 minute daily exercise by going on 30 minute walks and doing Walk Away the Pounds videos at home (3 and 5 mile). I already feel a difference in my energy level and mood. I work a retail job where I am on my feet the whole time and the thought of doing any exercise outside of that used to feel impossible. Now, doing my daily exercise before or after work, I actually feel like I have more energy to tackle work and I bounce back quicker at the end of the day.

HI I'm just finishing wk 1 it hasn't been hard really considering I can do something for 10 minutes just about anywhere. I saw the suggestions on the things that are possible and adopted them and now I do my ten minutes or more anywhere. Wk 2 here I come.

Week 2 went by so fast! I did pretty well getting in a ten-minute walk on my work breaks and did some jumping jacks during TV commercials (that didn't go so well--got a catch in my getalong) so will do lunges or squats or push-ups instead. It wasn't that hard to fit that in, just hard to remember to do.

week 2 flew by - I can't believe I'm actually in week 3! looking back on last week I realize that not only did I exercise EVERY day and my ankles/legs didn't hurt anymore when exercising,I also have started to take the steps more at work and use drive thrus a lot less. just when I didn't think things would just "accidentially" happen as a result of everything else, when reading the week 2 suggestions for fitting more fitness in your life, I learned that I am doing better and having to try less harder.

I seem to be flagging a little this week. I have been getting the 10 minutes exercise in but its been more a case of looking back through the day to see if I could call anything exercise rather than making a concerted effort to do exercise so it isn't becoming a habit. I feel like I've cheated myself but instead of beating myself up I'm going to put the effort in to doing some proper exercising! I always feel better after I do it so I don't know why I'm having this battle within myself. Hopefully as time goes on it will get easier. emoticon

I don't have young children like a lot of you who have posted, but am a busy grandmother who takes care of my grands (age 3 and 1) 2-3 days/week! I joined this group as I, too, find it hard to squeeze in that few minutes to exercise. I do find that just 10 min sometimes, is enough to motivate me to do more!
I have been walking my 5k more, (had decided to do it at least 3 times/week and I've been doing that plus more when the weather cooperates. (I live in VT). so many days with rain lately but temps are cooler for walking and that's a plus as well.
I'm into week 2 on this challenge and happy that I am able to participate!

I'm still very motivated this week which is good for me! I exercise almost every morning but if there is a chance I can't I do it at night. It actually helps me sleep better. Doing just ten minutes helps me stay focused and helps me keep up with my 16mo old. One day I took a walk around the doctor's office while waiting for my grandmother to finish up with her appt. I was also pushing my son in his stroller on that walk. It actually worked out to be 20mins of walking. I found you can find time anywhere! Here I come Week 2! emoticon

Week two has been pretty good for exercise. Food, on the other hand, is another story. I went to a wedding on Saturday, and the only choice on the menu at the reception was St Hubert's (chicken, gravy, potatoes, and creamy coleslaw).

However, I spent a good portion of the evening dancing (and two-stepped through three songs - that is SOME workout!).

Other than that, I've been going on walks, using my stationary bike, and I have just started taking horseback riding lessons. :)

Today was day one of week two. Exhausted today since the baby still isn't sleeping all night and my 2 year old is sick. Didn't want to ruin my streak so ended up doing some impromptu aerobics for 10 minutes before bed. This challenge is really helping me stay focused.

I did pretty good at the beginning of the week, but fell off a bit in the middle. Started thinking about how to keep the momentum and decided to try some new stuff. Only 5 days of exercise in week 2, but I am going to be 100% for week 3. Found a new boxing workout in SELF magazine and I think I'm gonna try it. What could be better to work out the frustrations of my workday? emoticon

Week 2 is at an end and I must say I did pretty dang good :) Besides my usual workouts (all weekdays!) and 2k daily walk, I added simple things like doing leg exercises while sitting at my desk and playing tug of war with the dogs but while doing crunches. It was quick and simple to reach an additional 10 minutes a day :) Hopefully everyone had a good week like I did!

While making my bed I play with my dog. He thinks it is a game. He gets in middle of bed when I start to make it. I run around bed & throw his bone so he will go get it then run back around to get as much made as I can before he gets back. We do that until I get my bed made. Sometimes it takes a while. According to how fast he is that day.

Instead of feeling totally wiped out from doing hour long exercises, the 10 minute exercise plan has me actually wanting to move more so I've been doing some exercises while watching TV and watched a couple of inspiring music videos that got me moving, too.

I control my food. I no longer let food control me.

The first week I did fantastic, working out anywhere between 30 and 40 minutes for 5 consecutive days.

This week I started off badly -- I missed my workout yesterday. So today I dusted off an old belly dancing video and did that for 30 minutes. Just what I needed!

Looking forward to a good week!

I have been doing GREAT!! I've been getting ten minutes in on my stationary bike every second day, and taking walks almost daily during the work week. On Saturday I enjoyed a full day of spelunking (exploring a cave) and ziplining! Yesterday, a holiday, I went horseback riding for an hour and a half!! I am also following a strengthening workout DVD on the days I'm not on my stationary bike.

Keep this coming!

I have been doing well. I was doing 10minutes of walk/jog on the treadmill (2-3x a day)while my daughter played in the playroom. I set up the treadmill in her playroom/TV room so I could get more done. This week I have decided to up it to 15 minutes of walking/jogging.

My goals for week 2:
1) continue exercising at least 10 minutes everyday
2) walk/jog on the treadmill at least 2x this week. working on training for a 5k
3) do at least one day of strength training. not really something that i do right now.

I have found being part of this challenge gives me more motivation and helps to keep me accountable. I succeeded in exercising at least 10 minutes everyday of week 1! Now to just keep up the motivation and momentum. emoticon

1) i joined the jillian michaels' 30 day challenge
2) while i belong to a gym that offers a lot of classes, i find i'm more likely to go if i pay for a class. i've signed up for a bosu class, a rowing class and have a punch card for yoga classes.

i'm happy to have joined this group and having the accountability of checking in. 10 minutes often leads to more minutes!

Coach: This week I would like for you all to post 2 of your creative ways you are working in activity into your busy lives.

1. I begin my stretching exercises first thing in the morning while still in bed then just as I get out of bed. Seems to rev up the metabolism.
2. I'm using my fitness ball as a computer chair part of the time & since it's handy I do a little core here & there through out the day.

For week two I have been doing my work outs at the YMCA strength and getting my cardio in the pool. I have to psych myself up to go workout but once Im there i jump right in and feel much better and as far as the swimming part its not like exercise because I love doing it anyway.

a friend at work has been telling me to walk to work as i'm so close and i finally did it today! it was great and i still had 15min to relax before work started. definitely think i'll do that again. and it gets me my 10min for the day straight up. i also use the stairs at work. i only have to go up one floor but i am forever running back and forth to do small jobs, grab things i forgot. even the small amount extra of exercise i am doing each week as part of this group is making me feel more active :D
