I'm just starting week 2 today and I have to say that I love the calendar. There are several ideas I want to try this week. I can't wait to see how I do this week. I know I can do it!

2 activities from the calendar:
- 5-10 minutes of exercise (dance to music) before my shower
- do some exercises at my desk

Plus I'm going to try to do one other activity on the calendar each day and record it. I already do quite a few of those things. (I always park far from the store entrance, and frequently get up and walk across the office instead of shooting off an email when I need to communicate with an office mate, to give just two examples.)

PLUS I'm going to continue to do what I did last week, which is do a 10 minute stretching workout each day.

I can do this!

I've finally learned not to sit down when I get home from work. I have to change into workout clothes and get right into exercising or it won't happen.

I bought (and have used!) a stability ball, a medicine ball, 4 workout dvds, and an exercise mat. I've gotten up to 2 miles/walking daily, and I've been adding little bursts into my day. In addition to my 2 miles and strength training today, I just did some wii boxing/bowling. Lots of fun!

This week I took the extra steps... I made more trips to the car from my 3rd story apartment taking my groceries and such to the house... when there was things to do at work instead of sending my assistant to go do it for me I did it myself :) I know spoiled right? And when I was walking I did arm exercises with weights instead of just walking... actually was kind of fun... and I loved the 30 days to fitness calendar... Great ideas on every day things that we do... wonderful!

Remember who you were yesterday makes you who you are today that's what leads me to believe everything happens for a reason.

This week I kept up with my (stationary) bike and Wii workouts. I carried a basket one time at the grocery store. The other time I was buying 40 lbs of kitty litter - NOT carrying that around in a basket! Parked farther from the store entrances and did just a whole bunch of wiggling around the house. Woo hoo! Feeling so much energy!!

I did 10 min a day on the restorator while watching tv.
Since joining the YMCA, I got out of the habit of walking the dog, so I took an xtra 10 min daily to do that.
washed pots & pans instead of putting them in the dishwasher.
did 10 cabinet push-ups before & after washing the pots & pans.
Reflection: I did get in more excercise but don't think this will be something I will continue with.

Week two has been great. I visited my oldest in Portland and we walked everywhere. Getting in my 12K step goal was a no brainer. Plus he lives on the 5th floor. So unless I was lugging suitcases or packages I climbed the steps... At least 400 stairs a day going both ways... emoticon
Now I just have to to keep it up since I am back home in Boise! I will start by tending to my neglected garden! emoticon

Week two ended yesterday for me and I feel really good about it. I walked for over 3 hours non-stop yesterday. My knee and hip gave me a little trouble last night, but I sure did feel good mentally when I was done.

I have been adding about 5 minutes more to each walk during the week. But it's the weekends that are still knocking me out of the getting the whole week marked off.

Almost forgot! Things I tend to do which sneak a little fitness in are using a basket at the grocery store and when I clean the floors I actually get on hands and knees (when mine isn't injured LOL!) and wash them by hand. I also tend to try and improve my posture when driving, sucking my stomach in for as long as I can.

My week 2 finished yesterday, 7/27. It was not a very good streak week in any stretch of the imagination!

On Wednesday, 7/20, I pulled & strained my left LCL in my knee. I went to the Dr. on Thursday who told me to rest as much as possible and then after a few days I could ride a stationary bike or swim. Between the resting per his orders, the fact I always take Sunday's as an "off" day from regularly scheduled exercise, and my son and husband were both sick it didn't leave many days left. I did manage to do a little something with our son last night at the park.

Hopefully 1 out of 6 ain't bad due to the circumstances? I am going to ride my bike or do Pilates or something tonight and get back to it. If anyone feels I should "disqualify" myself from this challenge and re-join it when my knee is better up to it I completely understand.

Thanks!

@ LMAC1968: Congrats on your success with the Wii Walk It Out game! I have the regular Wii Fit and do the Free Step sometimes when I can't get outside to walk. It's not very intense, though, so it's good to hear that Walk It Out is a good workout. I may need to invest in it.

Now that I'm in Week 2 and know that I can fit exercise into my schedule, I realize that I'm going to have to up the intensity if I hope to reach my goal of 14 pounds lost by late November. I need to buy heavier weights for my strength training, and I need to walk faster during my cardio sessions. And I must be more active on weekends because I've noticed I eat more calories then.

My small success for yesterday was doing my strength training even though I didn't feel well. I couldn't bear the thought of breaking my ten-minutes-a-day streak!

I am kicking some butt this week! Combo walk/run on the Wii Walk it out game - I highly recommend this!! Strength training also.

I thought I slipped up over the weekend and could not count anything, but after lugging hockey equipment in and out of an arena (and all the walking and stairs) for two boys for eight hockey games and helping them get dressed and undressed, I guess that counts as exercise!!

I've started doing Biggest Loser Power Walk DVD, each walk is 16 minutes/1 mile long. Very nice! it comes with a schedule to get you up to walking a whole marathon within 3 weeks!

I've also started doing a pilates dvd, averaging about 30 minutes each. I'm now up to about 45 minutes/day Mon/Tues this week!

These past 2 weeks have been great for me because I have learned that no matter what there is in your way, you can go as far as you want. I have joined a gym, exercised everyday for 2 weeks straight and now I workout at home for 10 minutes each day and everyday. I use sit infront of the tv and watch it all the time now I will be lucky enough to watch one to 2 shows per day if that. I go for bike rides, walks with my dog and go and sit in the sun and meditate. I am so lucky that I can finally do that after all.

Week 2 has been tough - but I'm trying to figure out a way to keep on track when unexpected situations arise. We had to go on a road trip do to a family illness. Even still, I did keep active, walked and then on our way home we camped which took a great deal of effort. It was quite a workout to setup camp. It really illustrated how out of shape we are and I told my husband - "we're pathetic."

But we did it, and we both got quite the workout out of it.

I'm glad we're back home and I can get back into my routine which should make the next time (if there is a next time) camping easier since we'll be more fit! If you keep expending more effort in mind, it is really quite easy to build it in more.

I've been walking to talk to co-workers rather than sending emails, And on our next date night, I'm gonna suggest miniature golf instead of something more sedentary.

I'm coming close to the end of week 2, July 28th, and I'm making progress. However, I haven't increased my workout time and still remain at 10 minutes. I have increased the amount of time, two 10 minute workouts on the treadmill instead of one, and trying to keep moving instead of sitting. So I guess that's an overall improvement and I'm happy about that. As time goes by, I'm sure I'll be increasing the duration of time on each workout. This is a great challenge. It seems to motivate me to do better.

Just starting Week 2 today, and I'm off to a slow start. I chose to sleep longer this morning instead of exercising, and I can't do my usual lunchtime walk because I have a doctor's appointment. So today will be a test: can I go home from work tonight and do Wii Fit for 20 minutes to get my cardio in? I am feeling motivated, and posting here should keep me honest. I promise to do it!

For my week two challenge of trying to find the time to exercise and to be creative about it, creative well its hard but I sure have fun with it. My 2 year old daughter loves to exercise with me lol. when I do jumping jack she tries to do them then its I did it mommy I did it. too cute. then me and my 9 year old try to out do each other on the Wii. I get a high score on hula hoop then she will do better than me so then I have to do better than her its so fun and this way I am including my kids in it to where they will continue with it growing up

I have been more aware of my non-exercising more than ever. I have been with SP for quite awhile, off and on, due to other "life" issues. I have come to the realization that if I don't do this for me, I will not be physically able to care for the ones who depend on me. So, the stairs when possible, parking farther from the door and wall pushups when I take a break at work. So far, it is a positive plan, doable!

I've been exercising every day for the past couple of weeks and find that I already have more energy than I use too. I've lost a couple pounds in the last two weeks. It has been nice to see the scale going down instead of up. I read on my indoor cycle and do some strength during commercials while watching tv. I already wash dishes by hand. I have also tried to do squats, lunges and calf work while doing laundry or while preparing dinner, especially while stirring or chopping.

Been keeping up with the morning exercise for almost 2 weeks now! I'm finally starting to drop some pounds, and wake up naturally before my alarm clock does. It's an odd feeling, but I like it. I had a mini celebration today by putting on a skirt and some comfy work-appropriate sandals for the day. Everyone at work loves the outfit, which makes me feel good about myself all over again! :-)

I have already been parking my car at the far end of the lot and walking to work for a good month now - but I have been using the elevator to get up and down when I could be using the stairs. It's only 4 flights down, then 4 flights back up to where I work, so I don't see why I couldn't start doing that as well! That's 16 flights every day, if I can stick with it. I'll begin first thing tomorrow!

I am late in posting this too but I chose 7 and 17 from the list and did both. The most important thing for me during this week was getting ready for an 8 week challenge. I organized my schedule and got everything ready for the start.... When the week began I was hauling.

I am late posting this, but week #2 was easy for me which was surprising to me. I did the parking furhter away thing and washing my own dishes from the June calendar in addition to working out for longer periods of time. I even did my own version of water aerobics while on vacay in Mexico.

My friends say I am a health nut. In the past that would have been offensive, but now, I take it as a compliment.

I'm doing WAY better than I expected! Week 2 went off with only one small hitch--I got some unexpected strength training in when Buddy decided he'd had enough and we were still about 1/2 mile from home--so I got to carry him the rest of the way! Fortunately, he'd already gotten his 10 minutes in, so we're both still on track! emoticon

I'm still not motivated to log stuff daily though...it's almost like I can either do it or l can log it--any suggestions or similar difficulties out there?

Keep up the good work everybody!

Two weeks done. 7lbs down. From hating to exercise, I am now beginning to enjoy it.! I am now cycling instead of taking the car. Daily walking and going to the gym 3 days of the week.
I even cleaned my kitchen out of all non essential food and that took 2 days work to get it sorted, but it was worth the effort. Welcome week 3. emoticon

Week 2 went really well! I made a habit of climbing our offices back stairs. Good workout I don't get at home or the gym, and it allowed me to get it done before getting home for the evening. Still also trying to get my evening walks in! Hope everyone's doing great!

Hi, everyone. I'm just beginning week two. I already go to the park to walk 2 miles every day that it isn't raining, but this week I'm going to try to make housework more fun by incorporating exercise into it. I'll let you know at the end of the week what I did. Looking forward to week 2.

Hi I am doing more housework now than relying on someone else to do it. Dancing in the car is easy to do for me, because I love to sing and dance anyways. That is only a couple things at the moment and I know I can add more later as I go.

I just started week 2 and my goals are to exercise in the morning and dress more casual. These work well for me as I am trying to incorporate a daily plan from a book I recently read that calls for exercise first thing in the morning and I am purchasing new cloths (reward for loosing 30 pounds) and can focus on a more casual look at feel for next year. So... week two here I come. I will up date this with my results at the end of the week.

Really starting to enjoy my morning workouts! I am still primarily using my stationary bike to keep my back from hurting, but I'm also working on sneaking in more daily activity through walks around my workplace, always taking the stairs, and being extra vigorous in housework.

So far, so good -- my energy level has skyrocketed! Looking forward to kicking off Week 3 strong tomorrow. emoticon

So far this week I'm trying to get at least 10 minutes a day by walking at work during lunch. I'm also trying to add a few minutes of stretches and strength exercises at work too. Today I didn't get to "exercise", but my family visited Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich, and my pedometer says that 18 minutes of that walking today was at 3METs or greater exertion, so I won't complain. Tomorrrow I'll be back to a more standard exercise program, but I suspect it doesn't hurt to have an active non-exercise day. emoticon

This week I have been playing with my nephews, walking 10 minutes (sometimes more) in the evening, not to mention walking around a lot while shopping. We have been doing quite a bit of shopping around (not buying yet) because we are going to be redoing a bathroom (first project) in our house. Been walking around Lowes and Walmart quite a bit LOL. Also been having to be in the car quite a bit lately so I have been practicing my posture which has been working my abs. I have always been a perfect example of someone with BAD posture so it is a workout LOL. I held my stomach in for over 1 1/2 hours on the drive home today. I'm feeling it LOL.

Starting week 2 I have already started parking farther away in the parking lot, and I ordered a pedometer online which I will use as soon as it arrives. I gave myself some nasty blisters on the 4th (trying to look "cool"), so I am having to forgo my usual 30-60 minute walks, and do indoor things so I don't have to wear shoes, but I am managing to get 30-45 minutes in anyway.

At the start of week 2. The 2 things from the list that I will incorporate into my routine is I will park on the lowest level of the parking garage and take the stairs all the way up to work. It's 6 floors total, so NOT the huge deal that I talk myself into it being! The second thing is I want to be more consistent in wearing my pedometer, as in EVERY DAY!!! It's still not a habit yet, and that needs to change. WOOT! Looking forward to WEEK 2!!!
