Thinking of joining a gym. It's about 10 miles from my house and is open 24/7. The gym I currently go to is closed on the weekends. I have discovered that I enjoy walking on the treadmill. I can measure how far I go and how fast I go with ease rather than just walking and guessing. My goal is to walk until I can run for at least one mile. I want to run. I want to be one of the skinny girls who jump up on a treadmill and run to their hearts content. I'm gonna need a good sport bra, though. emoticon

Okay, Okay! I hear you all. I am getting back on track TODAY! First of the month and all.
I have been walking a lot, but my goal was to exercise all of my muscles with 10 minutes a day of various combinations of yoga, balance, and strength. emoticon

Now here's what Dwayne was talking about, with a kick in the "TUKAS!" Why do you have to wait for the storm to pass to get your 10 minutes in? Power walk through the house, or just do a casual walk. do jumping jacks, side steps or even dance for 10 minutes. Girl, I don't want your muscles to atrophy, and if you don't move, they will! Come on kiddo, MOVE your feet to the beat!

Dwayne I'm doing very well, and it's good to see you're still getting your cardio and body work in. I was on a plateau for 3 months, and I finally took the SparkCoach Plateau Busting program, and it sure did bust it! I pray yours doesn't last as long as mine did.

How's everyone doing? Welcome LILITHD to the group. Encouragement is something you'll get plenty of here...also a kick in the "TUKAS" if it's needed. Just keep on working it and doing your 10 minutes plus every day. It does go by quickly and in time you'll be doing far more than even you thought was possible.

With that I'm off to the gym for some cardio and lower body work. Trying to break through a plateau I've been stuck on for about 8+ weeks. It's really frustrating but I know I won't get through it sitting here wishing I would...so I'm out of here.

Remember Lilithd...together we can do this and together WE ROCK!

Wow, thanks everyone, for the encouragement. I may need it in the days and weeks ahead. I'm lazy by nature and I like to sit in front of the computer all day and not get up except for food and drink. I haven't done my exercise for the day yet, but I will here shortly. I'm waiting for the storm to pass. Wouldn't want to get struck by lightning.

Girl, you can do this!!!! Just start out with baby steps, until you get your sea legs, so to speak, and then take off from there, but still baby step it. Baby steps will get you to your goals faster than anything else! Once you start this and make it a habit, your body will let you know when it wants more and I know you will gladly say, "YES!"

There are so many ladies and gents here that are willing to give you a hand up, and all you have to do is ask! It's fantastic that you're here and wanting to give this another try. You've got this, and you already know that this lifestyle change will be something that you will do for the rest of your life, to keep God's Temple in Divine Order. However, you won't mind doing what needs to be done and that's a HUGHE PLUS!!!

Enjoy yourself and let's get walking, as I'm walking with you!

as i have a big dog and no fence in my yard i have to walk her on the leash so i walk with her at least 3 times a day if not 4. Raining hard this morning and she said no thanks so we went later but a shorter walk as it started raining again. So i know i will walk over 10 minutes right away in the morning and go up from there. Now chiropractor gave me the go to get back to exercises as well as the exercises i learned in PT. Now if I can cut the calories as am on prednisone and I seem to always be hungry, that is a side effect i can live without!!

Glad you're back and want to walk again. I have not done well either but am trying for 10 to 20 minutes a day on my treadmill. i can break up the walks in 2 ten minute sessions. I wish you all the best. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I started this challenge the last time I was on SP, but gave up on it. I'm trying it again. I started using the gym at school, which is free until the end of June, so why not? Gotta get started somewhere and the doc told me WALK! I've already been Wednesday and Thursday this week, and am enjoying myself tremendously. If I don't make it today (I don't have classes on Fridays and Mondays), I will probably walk outside for 10-20 minutes.I want to get healthy, but, more than anything, I want to lose this weight. I've gained over 100 lbs in the past decade and I'm tired of it. I'll never be as thin as I used to be, but at least I can be normal for a change. I just have to keep up the mindset that I'm in this for the long haul and not give up so easily.

I used to walk every day for 2 miles, until I had to sit with my mom while she died. I was in a strange place, for a month and a half, that she told me was not safe for walks, so I didn't walk and I got out of the habit. I regret that, but I'm back now and hoping to make it a habit again. Gotta lose this poundage. Day three, here I come!
