I joined this challenge to encourage myself to keep up with a routine. My goal for the next 4 weeks is to stay consistant and lose 5-6 lbs.

I hope to use this to help me develop the habit of daily exercise. It I can do it for at least 10 minutes a day, I think I will be able to sustain daily exercise for the rest of my life. I tend to plunge into exercise (60 minutes a day) and then drop it when I can't do that level. I really need to stop my exercise binging & develop healthy habits.

My goal is to regain the ground I have lost over the past year and a half.

My favorite strength training program has a section for upper body, a section for lower body, and a section for balance. Since strength training is not supposed to be done on consecutive days, and since it's easier to establish a habit if you do it every day, I am planning to divide the program, using appropriate cardio to warm up the portion of my body I will be focusing on each day, as follows:

Monday and Thursday, I will focus on my upper body, doing 2 sets of 8 reps Alternating Chest Press with Dumbells, 2 sets of 8 reps Overhead Press with Dumbells, and 2 sets of 8 reps Upward Row with Dumbells. I will start with 1 pound in each hand and increase as I determine that I need to add more weight. I will warm up using appropriate WiiFit exercises.

Tuesday and Friday, I will focus on my lower body, doing 2 sets of 8 reps Back Leg Lifts with Ankle Weights, 2 sets of 8 reps Leg Extensions with Ankle Weights, and 2 sets of 8 reps Side Leg Lifts with Ankle Weights. I will start with 3 pounds in each ankle wrap and increase as I determine that I need to add more weight. I will warm up using appropriate WiiFit exercises.

Wednesday and Saturday, I will focus on balance, doing 2 sets of 8 Heel Lifts and 2 sets of 8 Toe Lifts. I will also do WiiFit balance exercises.

I have noticed in recent months that I'm wobblier than I used to be...guess I've been busy proving the truth of "Use It or Lose It!"

In the past, I would have waited until Monday to get started, but I will re-start tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 6, 2011.

Pat
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Dear God, please help me to remember that there is nothing that can happen to me that You have not permitted, and that if You have permitted it, You are right with me as I make my way over, under, around, or through it.

This is a great first challenge! I just had back surgery, so there isn't much I can do, but I've been using that as an excuse to do nothing. That isn't the case - the doctor told me that I CAN walk on the treadmill, and I should for at least ... 10 MINUTES A DAY!

Perfect challenge for me! ;)

Gayle do you have any resistance bands? There is a 20-minute resistance band workout it covers you from toe to head and it's all done while sitting down, It's great for beginners. Keep up the good work! emoticon

OK, I start this challenge today. I want to add an additional 10-minute exercise to the walking that I currently do. I try to walk 2 miles a day, 4 or 5 days a week, but I need to start getting more strength training because I know it helps to make the bones stronger. I have osteoporosis so I need to do everything I can.

Goal for Week 1 - get a 7 day exercise streak with AT LEAST 10 minutes of something - walking, pilates, aerobics or something different.

Day 1 - July 4th - walked at park with BBF, 30 minutes, moderate. emoticon
Day 2 - July 5th - combo of aerobics, abs, and Stroga - 60 minutes, moderate. I enjoy this workout. My challenge will be to make myself work out when there isn't something structured.
Day 3 - July 6th - walk with BBF, 50 minutes, moderate! Pedometer reads 9000 plus already!! But knee hurts a little too.
Day 4 - busy busy day - but will fit in a late walk in neighborhood with DH when sun sets - 96 degrees this afternoon!
Day 5 - July 8 - walk at park plus Pilates - made for a tired me later, but a great sleep!
Day 6 - July 9 - I have to be a self-starter today - I think I can, I think I can!

This weeks goal for me is to work out at least 20 mins, go on a daily evening walk and to continue drinking my water.

I get 10 minutes a day or more now just walking my dog, but we tend to stroll rather than really give it our all, and trust me, Buddy needs his own Spark Page. emoticon

Our goal for this week is to go our usual strolls for him to be able to leave and read pee-mails, but then to have at least 10 minutes where we're going at an aerobic level.

I want to make exercise a habit in my life. Short bursts of time seem a great idea as I waste a lot of short periods of time, I could be making good use of, while I set around trying to figure out how I can budget one hour blocks 2 or 3 times a week that just don't seem to happen. emoticon

I had a baby in March and must fit back into my professional wardrobe before school starts again in the fall. I know exercise with help me achieve that goal so 10 minutes per day is a bare minimum for me. I'm doing my best to vary my exercises as much as possible...walking, cadio machines, strength training, biking,etc...

My goal is to do at least an hour a day! I have been doing really well, and feel so much better now that I do it. Its not always easy getting started, but afterwards you feel so accomplished. It is also my goal to push myself when I feel comfortable, right now I am down to a 17.5 minute mile (not great, I know.... but better than my starting time!) I want to get it down to a 15 minute mile! Thats my next goal! emoticon

Good luck and God bless to all of you!

I'd like to find opportunities to be active every day even if it's only for 10 minutes, but hopefully I'm motivated to do more! By the end I'd like being active every day to be habit and not something that I negotiate with myself.

My goal is consistency in exercise. Hoping this challenge will help motivate me each morning to get up a little earlier and just do something! I do really well on my off days ( I work 4 - 10 hr days, but by the time I get home after working 10 hours I don't want to do anything. Plus 2 nights a week I go by and visit with my Mom. So it has to be mornings for me.

Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible, and suddenly, you are doing the impossible.
