Update yesterday was a busy day hubby came down sick. I did mange to get in my 10 core video from fit fired up video an a 20 min half mile walk with Ella whose 71 and walks a little slow but that's ok. Today I did a 18 min. mile walk outside total time 21 min 1.20 miles. I downloaded a runkepper app to my phone that tracks distance and time I wish there was a way to sync it to sparkpeople. If any knows would love to learn how to do it. emoticon

The problem is how to bump up the amount of exercise I'm doing in a day; so, this challenge is just what is needed: simple enough to achieve, and requiring a consistency I have found difficult to acquire.

I already walk 2 miles 5 days a week, but, at age 72, this is not enough to keep my weight down, even with dieting. My hope is that I can also increase the level of effort.

BTW, yesterday I noticed a Sparks article on geocaching, which has always interested me. I may incorporate this in the plan to get more exercise!

I have had Multiple Sclerosis for over 25 years, so doing spurts of 10 minutes at a time is right up my alley! I just have a hard time doing most forms of cardio, but I lift weights, walk on my treadmill, stretch.

My goal is to exercise consistently at least 1 10-minute session every day. I'll start with that, and I'm sure I'll increase later. Today is my Day One on this group. I've been on Sparkpeople for a long time, but haven't lost the weight yet. Maybe this is what I need. I also joined the SparkCoach group.

For myself, my goal was to create more opportunities for exercise, and start a good habit now before Texas gets unbearably hot.
* I've started a morning yoga practice with my kids between breakfast and bus.
* I've started a simple workplace walking program in tandem with the American Heart Association National Walking Day April 3. A shared calendar lets employees opt in for 10 min weekday walks behind the building before 8a/10a/3p and for 30-min lunch walks at a nearby park.

I just re-joined spark, and I'm working on several health habits right now. I'm trying to quit smoking, and start exercising. Quit eating at the drive thru and start cooking healthy meals at home. I'm also trying to convert my habits along with my boyfriend's and do it all on a budget.

My goals for the first week of this challenge are
-Work out 30+ minutes, 5x a week
-Make dinner 4+ times (not pizza, not hamburger helper, but a real meal)

My goal for week 1 is 10 minutes of walking a day. I know I can do more but I'm starting small so I don't quit. I'd much rather read a book!

My goal is to become more actve and increase my core strength. I plan to acheive this by 1) completing this challenge, 2) adding 5 mins to my exercise time after every 2-3 weeks--depending on what I feel my body is capable of (after I complete this challenge which will help me with routine), 3) getting an exercise buddy--this will help with motivation and keep me accountable.

I want to bike for 10 extra minutes every day, or run on the tredmill for 10 minutes! 10 minutes of running is really hard for me, so that will be a challenge in itself but I would like to at least try.

My goal of week one is not to be afraid of weights! I had excellent results, without bulk (like they say!), the last time I did some form of weightlifting 5 days a week. emoticon I follow my pinterest Mon-Sat workouts to tell me what I should be working out when. Today, my first day, was arms. (Yesterday I wasn't a part of this group but worked out my lower body) When my zuzka dvds come in, which will be week two, I'll start those emoticon 10 minutes a day is completely possible and I'm going to do it!

My goal is to get myself back into the habit of exercise, even if all I can do is 10 minutes. If I am able to do more I will.
Week 1 Day 1 walked for 30 minutes.
Day 2 racked leaves, did about 20 minutes of stretching
Day 3 stretches, walk for 40 minutes, yard work
So far so good

Every day is a new day with a new chance to do something great!

Good Morning Everyone!

My goals is to get in at least 20 minutes of physical activity each day. I feel a huge accomplishment when I'm able to do so. I also feel the motivation to keep going. Working on getting used to logging into Sparkpeople each day, though it is a little hard to keep that challenge up.

Wishing you all the best of luck in your goals! emoticon

I am able to workout 3 days a week for an hour each day. The rest of my week is hard to workout but I think this challenge will help motivate me to do at least 10 mins. I mean, 10 minutes isn't too long and I'm sure everyone could find 10 minutes somewhere.

Hi folks!
I just joined this challenge started yesterday and I am loving it. Starting out at 10 minutes a day is a good way to get moving for me. Yesterday I worked the upper body exercises from this site, and today I am planning on walking at my lunch break. Brought my Shuffle, and going for it! I am planning on 20 minutes today! :)

Have a good one!

I like the accountability of this challenge. Mine is simple. 10 minutes a day for 7 days. Anything I do over and above that is a bonus. I will build from there but first - the 10 a day for seven. Spark Cheers!

Hi everyone. The one thing I lack in my exercise program is consistency. I have always felt that if I didn't have an hour to commit that it wasn't worth the trouble. Changing my mind set to a commitment of only 10 minutes on a day when I don't have an hour will help me make exercise a daily routine.

Hello all. This is my first posting, so pls excuse any unintended mistakes. I am quite a bit older than most of your members. In my youth, I was quite a 'jock' (we called us Tom Boys then!). I played tennis, jogged, snow skied, etc. and was very active. Three years ago I became ill, and the resulting treatment left me with very little energy. So, my mind says 'do that 10-K' but my body and stamina say 'no way sister; have a seat!'. So, now my goal is to only expect myself to perform 10 minutes a day of walking, biking, or elliptical each day. Over time as my endurance progresses, I hope to build on that time, but for now I'll be content to just commit to the 10 minutes. Right now, I'm on vacation in Florida; the weather is beautiful so it's a good week to start my exercise commitment.

I joined this challenge to be held accountable. It's too easy for me to make up an excuse as to why I don't exercise. With this great support and a place to log in to hold me accountable, I believe I can do this. my goal is to start with 10 min. per day and work to 30 min per day.

My goal in joining this challenge is to get into the habit of working out at least 10 minutes a day and I am hoping that by joining this challenge it will give me the push I need to get up and get the workout in regardless of how I feel! I think my problem in the past has been setting too high of goals and getting discouraged when I didn't meat them so this time around I am starting slow!

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
