my goal is to do at least 10 minutes of exercise daily. I used to walk up to 5miles a day, then I cut it down to 2miles because it was causing pain to my feet and I had to take Tylenol
before walking. But today I am excited to say that I will start walking 20 minutes a day so it won't be so painful. emoticon but i am excited

My goal is to do at least 10 minutes of exercise each day, and to increase that number as much as possible. This challenge is helping me be more mindful of my schedule each day and to be more prepared in order to complete my 10 minutes.

It is time to begin reclaiming a quality of life. I made a list of 10 minute exercises and commit to doing them at least once per day.

I have a tendency to work out at the gym and think that because I did this, I don't need to do any further work. My idea here was to use the 10 minutes to push myself just a bit more and do something extra. For example, today I worked out at the gym for 30 minutes but when I got home from running errands I decided to rake leaves for 15 minutes. It helps me look at the bigger picture too: just because I'm not at the gym, doesn't mean I can't work towards my goal.

This is my first time joining a challenge. My goal is to exercise in some form six days a week and develope a routine that I can stick with. I think by committing to 10 minutes a day, I feel less overwhelmed than by committing to 30 minutes everyday.

As I am restarting my SP program, my goal is to start small and get myself back in a routine here. They say it takes 2 weeks to develop or break a habit, so....for the next 2 weeks my goals are to do at least 10 min of exercise 5 x week and to drink 7-8 glasses of water per day. this is my 4th time trying to re-start SP and I REALLY REALLY want to be successful in staying with it this time. The first time I lost almost 30lbs. My goal is half that this time around.

I hope that whit this challenge I will be able to restart my working out routine. I had some health problems and I couldn't workout as much as I would whish to.

Usually I do more than 10 min/day, but I want to be motivated to do at least 10 minutes on the days when I don't feel like working out.

I'm also here to support you all and maybe help you reach your goal. emoticon

Here are my goals that were set for week #1 (1/8 - 1/14) :

1. First thing each morning is to workout with Coach Nicole using one of her short 10-minute clips. I am forming a new habit of consistency in the exercise department.
ONLY MADE 3 DAYS WITH COACH NICOLE DID GO HIKING ONE DAY AND BICYCLE RIDING ANOTHER...BUT...THE OBJECT WAS TO GET IN THE HABIT OF MORNING EXERCISE WITH SP.

2. Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Currently drink six glasses per day. The two extra glasses seem to keep me running to the restroom. I can do this!
GOT UP TO 8 GLASSES ON FRIDAY. A BUG SETTLED IN MY STOMACH AND I DRANK WATER TO KEEP FROM GETTING DEHYDRATED.

3. Schedule extra time for everything to allow for restroom breaks. I hate being in the middle of a project when the urge strikes. It's find a stopping point in the project, so I can make the mad dash to the "Ladies' Room".
AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK I DIDN'T DRINK ENOUGH TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. SINCE FRIDAY I'VE BEEN LIVING IN THE LADIES' ROOM!

5. Drop two pounds.
FORGOT TO WEIGH AT END OF WEEK. DID WEIGH TODAY AND I'M AT MY MONTH'S END GOAL....BUT I'M SURE IT'S ALL WATER.

6. Celebrate with a "WooHoo!"
WELL...I THINK I'LL WAIT ON THE WOOHOO UNTIL NEXT WEEK. ACTUALLY, I THINK I'LL START OVER WITH WEEK ONE ONCE I SHAKE THIS STOMACH BUG. (I WOULDN'T MIND IF I KEEP OFF THE 10 POUNDS I'VE DROPPED IN THE LAST 9 DAYS.)

I always wanted to workout everyday, but have never accomplished it. I'm up to 4-5 days a week, but have not been able to make it a habit 6 days a week. The 10 minute + concept will probably work for me. I have followed the SparkGuy on his daily 10 minutes a day of exercise and decided I can do it too. So here's to day one!

My goal is to start with 10 minutes a day and work up to 30. I tried the January Jumpstart but found it to be way more than I can currently handle, so I am going to start with 10 minute streaks instead.

Next month, I will do the Jumpstart.

My goal is to do the 10 minute challenge for 30 days. My history is that I do well at getting healthy for about a month, and then life comes in and crashes everything. This time I am looking to build life long habits. Right now it is important for me to get in the habit of getting up and doing something consitently.

I have a martial arts class that I attend twice a week, and I just signed up for an 8-week Combat Fitness class at my dojo. I love my classes and they're an awesome workout, but I don't tend to move much on my off days. I feel SO much better when I get up and moving, but don't seem to do that "just because I know it feels good".

I'm hoping that this challenge will be a kick in the pants to actually get up and do something every day.

Attitudes are contagious. Is yours worth catching?

my goal is to get atleast 10 min of exercise each day if not more, besides my 10000 steps per day, i purchased a pedometer to keep track of it, so far so good. Also, I jogged during the commercials and walked during my favorite show during the last 30mins. of the show. (man are the commercials long it seems). It seems to be working for me.

Great ideas, everybody--thanks!! I'm going to start by timing the commercial breaks during my news-and-Jeopardy nightly fix and, fingers crossed, they'll add up to 10 minutes. That way, I hope to have a daily cue to get up and move. Once I've got that conquered, I'll set another goal...but right now I just need to start ;)

My goal is to be consistent and push myself even on the days that I don't "feel like" doing anything. It takes approximately 8 minutes to walk to my mailbox instead of driving to it, so that's what I'm switching up to meet the goals of this challenge. This is, of course, on top of my already scheduled strength training three times per week. :)

Hi im new here but I hear you there. It is almost intimidating. But I read a article once that really hit home for me. I don't like to get sweaty or have to take a shower more then once a day. So in this article they say. 10 min. Exercise routines won't get you sweaty enough to take a shower. So i am going to try it now with this challenge. Good luck to you.

My goal is to do 10 minutes of daily exercise, which I do not do right now. It's almost hard to believe that this can be a challenge, but for me it is... to do it consistently, every. single. day.

No matter how slow you go, you are STILL lapping everybody on the couch.

In Week 1, I focused on three exercises.
In Week 2, I'm having fun, sneaking in some dancing, whenever I hear some
music that I like. Right now, I'm finding some good music, on the Weather Channel !
I just LOVE this Challenge !
It's fun ! emoticon emoticon

Anita, why would you feel guilty about not feeling well and getting needed rest? Hon this challenge is not to make us feel bad about what we don't do but amazed (for some) and proud (for all) about what we CAN do! Work out when you can; rest if you need to. Take care. HUGS

I dont want to feel gulity about this.. so I thought I would post it.. every day this week I have been getting up riding my bike (it is on a trainer) for 25 minutes I had made that my challenge streak. well this AM when the alarm went off I was so stuffed up and hacking away I said ohhh 1/2 more hour.. so I did not ride but tonight after work I am going to go to the basment and get on.
Love this challenge thank you it is keeping me going

Just started back to try to lose weight after a 2 year absence from sparkpeople. My goals:
1. Workout for at least 10 minutes each day
2. Replace junk food with healthier options
