A weighted hula-hoop! That's awesome! I'll have to look into getting a couple of those!

Renee, you're absolutely right. You just have to keep your head up and keep aiming for consistency. Eventually, you'll see results. And sometimes, you'll see things go up even though you're still working hard. Just try to keep changing up the routine so you and your body don't get bored.

Try hula-hooping too...it's fun! I have a weighted hula hoop that makes you work harder but it seems to stay up longer than a regular one too. Good luck!

Thanks! Yah it's very discouraging. I did think maybe I should do more cardio than weight training. I actually bought the cardio dvd from this site and it just got here! So I'm hoping it'll help me do some more useful cardio than my norm. And just try to keep my head up! Won't get anywhere if I don't stick to something.

Ah, this is why I HATE starting workout programs. I always find myself gaining pounds and inches thanks to increase in muscle mass rather than watching myself slim down and lighten up.

To answer your first question, you can't target loss in a particular area of your body. I recommend moderate cardio workouts for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. You can only target specific muscle groups for tone.

For your second, muscle weight is good. More muscle means you burn calories (and therefore lose weight) faster. Trust me, I know how frustrating this is no matter how many times it is said. But don't be down on gaining muscle.

Eat good, wholesome foods. Find excuses to trade sedentary activities for more physically active ones.

Just give it time!

What's the best way to lose inches around the waist? Or some good ways to work on it?

I've had a little downfall after finding out I gained muscle pounds instead of losing and I need to get back into the right feel for things. I really want to work on waist inches more than anything. Please help! Thanks! xox
