Thanks for your first post on this topic. I had discarded body fat percentage from my physical fitness goals. I have reinstated it to achieve the high-end of ACSM fitness category (17%, i believe).

That site says they are "powered by Bod Pod" which you will find in my list and I believe in Lyle McDonald's also.

According to things I have read, the Bod Pod, while a quick, clean, cheap method of testing, isn't as accurate as underwater weighing while essentially measuring the same thing. This is due to the density of the air being lower than the density of the water. Both methods suck compared to DXA though.

Is this one of the things covered in your test?

www.getbodymetrics.com/

It's supposedly a dry method that's close to the accuracy of the water test. Or so they claim ...

It appears that Lyle McDonald has already written most of the essentials. I'll write things that add to his articles and state my opinions, but most of what I'm going to do for the moment is link to his articles. Seriously, read them and you will probably have a better story than I could have come up with.

I'm going to write a sort of meta-magnum opus here about ways to measure your body fat in general, and body fat percentage in particular. I'll reference the caliper article, and if I need to write articles about other methods I'll do so, though probably over time.

Like the caliper article before, this is going to take a while to complete. Therefore I am going to label it "in progress" and change it to COMPLETE when I consider it reasonably well done.

1. Why you should track your body fat and what are you really after?

2. Methods that track body fat without imputing body fat percentage
-Measurements
-Skinfolds

3. Methods to measure body fat percentage
-BMI
-measurements
-BIA
-skinfold testing
-displacement methods (underwater weighing, Bod Pod)
-scanning methods (DXA, MRI)
