see, I think matcha (and well, all green teas!) taste nasty. I decided long ago to always brew a black tea with a green tea for the health benefits. DD went to Japan and learned from a genuine tea master about green tea and brought back lots of special green teas that he blended and of course, lots of matcha. I won't drink it! (I TASTED them all, but sorry!)

But I will COOK with it. Lots of times, instead of broth or stock, I substitute some freshly brewed green tea. Examples: green or black tea or tisanes instead of stock when making soup or stew, or braising a pot roast or simmering chicken for chicken and dumplings. And a sprinkle of matcha is excellent sprinkled over rice and on certain fruits! I think matcha SHINES as a flavoring for homemade ice cream. And of course, tea leaves are wonderful when used to smoke poultry! Imagine a duck smoked with blackberry tea and sage... divine!

Everybody knows I drink tea not coffee and everybody and their dogs give me tea as gifts. I've got an entire kitchen cabinet over-filled with nothing but tea of all kinds! When it reached TWO cabinets full of tea, I had to get REAL creative about using it up! (and if ANYBODY here can think of a gentle kind way to say Pleeeease don't buy me tea for another 5 years to friends who mean well, I'd love to hear it!)

The powdered Matcha is to be put 1 teaspoon in a cup & whisk it with a tiny whisk with about 2 teaspoonful of water, it is suppose to turn foamy when you do this, some dollar stores have them. You then add the remaining boiling water to it. The so called bamboo Matcha whisks are expensive, you can get special Matcha cups that are like soup bowls, but it is not needed. you can look up sites online that show information and pictures on it. It is cheapest from Amazon.

Green Matcha tea is the only real green tea available. It is made in China or Japan and is the only powdered real tea you can get from anywhere. It is a lot better then cheaper green teas and it can be bought at Amazon cheaper then any stores. It can be added to any food, or your bath, used as a face mask and many other things. It is a lot stronger then other green teas and you need 1/2 teaspoon of the powdered kind per. cup of tea.

Carol I love my kale chips and at the same time I usually roast gabonzo beans with evlo and spices. Get it all done in one oven heating. Right now not using stove at all if possible. Too hot here. If it cannot be on the grill out in the horrible heat it is not done. I will be trying your tea recipe. It sounds good. I have never mixed the different teas at once. I always used them seperately. But each has a different healthy property and should work well together.

Yes, I use extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). I wonder if this would work in a pan on the grill emoticon I hate to turn my oven on in our AZ summer and I know you can do pizza and other types of veggie recipes on the grill. Might give that a try and see what happens emoticon emoticon

Glad I could help you out. After I read your post and looked at what I wrote I realized I forgot to tell you to turn the kale about halfway through. I have always just checked it at 5-7 min. but keep an eye on it because everyone's oven is different.

I was commenting on a blog and thought I would post this here.

We make our ice tea by using 4 white tea bags; 4 green tea bags; and 5 black tea bags. It makes a really nice brew. We also use slices of fresh lime in our tea instead of lemon for something a little different.

On the healthy veggies: try roasting kale. Cut out the middle spine, wash and spin in salad spinner to get out all the water. Put kale in a bowl and drizzle about 1 TBSP EVOO over it and some sea salt or kosher salt to taste. Mix it all up and lay out kale on a baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees until crisp. Really delicious and healthy.
