Another thing I've learned along the way: If you get the Pom tea at Ruby Tuesdays, order it unsweetened. You'll save 110 calories. Yes, 110! all sugar. Use Splenda or other or nothing. I've even had it plain and it seemed okay to me. Stay away from the specialty teas unless you can get them unsweetened. Hidden calories can compromise your total at the end of the day.

My husband and I like to go out to eat, especially on the weekends. After grocery shopping and errand running, we like to settle back and relax in one of our favorite places for a good meal. Ruby Tuesdays is just one of those favorites.

What I've learned to do before going out to eat is to go online and check the restaurant"s nutrition information. This doesn't take long and I find I win in checking those calories BEFORE I enter the door so I have a pretty good idea what to avoid.

When my order comes, I cut everything in half. I gave up eating desserts. It was one of the hardest things to do since I have more than one "sweet tooth"!! But discipline, I found was the only key that worked for me and even when my husband would comment and I'd get a little upset with him, deep inside I was really grateful that he stopped me. Now it's not as hard; in fact, I rarely even think of dessert. It's like giving up an old habit--practice makes perfect.

I have also experimented with various bran muffin recipes and came up with one of my own that we both love. As soon as I figure out the calories, etc, I'm going to submit it here because it's a very moist muffin something you usually don't find in bran.
